No side effects with Astra Zeneca!

Had AZ at the weekend. Was told side effects are very common!

Also I know a quite a few people who have had it and the vast majority have had side effects. Some feeling very ill.

I’ve not had a single side effect. I’m grateful I’m not feeling poorly but worry it’s not been as effective as it should be.

Literally everyone else I know who’s had it has had side effects.

Anyone else not had any side effects at all?

I had mine on Saturday and felt hungover all day yesterday. Needed a nap, skin was tingly and cold/hot/wrong, and I had a banging head. Totally fine today :)

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 15/03/2021 19:01

I had fluey like side effects the day after (which was a Friday) and then pretty tired with a sore arm all weekend. I’d never realised how welded I am to sleeping on my left side!

Apparently the older you are the less likely to get side effects frommAZ. So I’ve heard.

Just grateful for having had it tbh. And I’m not someone who says #grateful about everything!

Umbivalent · 15/03/2021 19:02

DH had it two weeks ago. No side effects at all.

Whenthesunshines · 15/03/2021 19:04

Really glad to hear that effects are short lived.

Serin · 15/03/2021 19:09

My 87 year old mum and 20year old son both had the AZ vaccine and neither had the slightest after effect.

Ludoole · 15/03/2021 19:10

I had achey bones, sore skin all over and a headache. They came on 6 hours after the AZ vaccine and lasted about 36 hours.

Lindy2 · 15/03/2021 19:11

I had it on Saturday morning. That night I had a few hours of feeling very very cold and shivery. Then a few hours of being very hot and sweaty.

On Sunday I just felt a bit hungover.

Today I'm absolutely fine apart from a slightly sore arm.

I've also had Covid where I had 3 weeks of feeling absolutely awful. 24 - 48 hours of vaccine side effects is definitely preferable to suffering from the actual virus.

Parkerwhereareyou · 15/03/2021 19:14

Sort of achey arm. Just feel sleepy and a bit zoned out.

Quite nice, really!

A bit of champagne helps with the symptoms ; )

I'm interested - if you've had Covid, do you get less/no reaction to the jab?

CatBumJuice · 15/03/2021 19:42

My mum had AZ and was properly ill for 10 days, and my sister's arm round the injection site swelled up so much she needed antibiotics. Still looking forward to getting mine this week, whichever one it is!

Dizzy1234 · 15/03/2021 19:55

I had this vaccine on Saturday and feel pretty rough, flue symptoms, nausea, crashing headache and so tired.
Wfh but have seriously struggled today.
I'm telling myself it's a small price to pay for whatever level of protection it will provide

alphabetti · 15/03/2021 20:04

I had AZ on 28/02. I was ill afterwards with nausea, abdominal pain, feeling hot then shivery cold. Im breastfeeding baby who was 12weeks at time and she wasn’t well for days afterwards too.

Clackyheels · 15/03/2021 20:32

Me. No side affects at all.

Theluggage15 · 15/03/2021 20:36

I had it on Saturday, no side effects at all. My husband had it last Monday and had a bit of a temperature that evening and felt a bit rough the next day. All good here!

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/03/2021 20:37

I had the AZ vaccine with no side effects, not even a sore arm. I was surprised as I'm a current cancer patient. I am just glad to have had it and grateful that it was OK!

Rewis · 15/03/2021 20:40

Haven't had mine yet but FIL had no side effects other than a bit of soreness. Bf got it on a friday and was sick all through saturday and sunday. Shivering in bed, feeling fewerish, sweating and cold, struggled with a mile walk. All the fun things.

Remona · 15/03/2021 20:44

I had the AZ jab Friday evening. I felt fine immediately afterwards. Almost exactly 24 hours later I felt dreadful. Banging headache, aching all over, shooting pains in my limbs and I felt feverish and couldn’t stop shivering. I went to bed early and felt fine again by about lunchtime the following day. I’m just relieved to have had it and that the side effects were short lived.

@demelza82

Thank goodness that everyone who has covid is just sailing through then....Confused

People really overuse "Jesus wept" on Mumsnet

Can’t work out what you’re cross about? Aren’t we allowed to have a discussion about side-effects or is that disrespectful to people with COVID?
notaflyingmonkey · 15/03/2021 21:03

I had mine on Saturday morning. Woke up Saturday night with a thumping head, drank some water and took a couple of paracetamol, then Sunday felt tired and hungover all day. Feel fine now, and obvs, a very small price to pay.

I wonder if drinking loads of water the day of the vaccine stops the 'hangover'?

blobblob · 15/03/2021 22:00

Felt dreadful, flu-ey - for 12 hours and then a bit under the weather for the next 12 - but have been fine since.

JiggeryWokery · 15/03/2021 22:13

Had mine Friday, arm still tender. Felt tired enough on Saturday to need an afternoon nap, but back to normal by Sunday morning.

ALongHardWinter · 15/03/2021 22:33

I had my first one 5 weeks ago,and can honestly say that I had no side effects at all. My Dd on the other hand, was not well for 3 days afterwards! Bit of a fever, ached all over,a splitting headache, felt nauseous and was actually sick several times.

BMW6 · 15/03/2021 22:43

Had 1st AZ 2pm yesterday, woke up around 3am feeling v achy all over. Took 2 paracetamol and again this afternoon, feeling normal now although injection site still a bit sore.

No big deal

MrsElf · 15/03/2021 23:04

I had no unpleasant side effects. I was a lot more thirsty than usual, did anyone else notice that? Notaflyingmonkey might be onto something, maybe drinking lots helps? I do get headachy when I’m dehydrated, and a couple of times I felt I was on the cusp of that, but had lots of liquid (nearly 3 times as much as normal, that day and the next 5, frequently feeling properly thirsty with dry mouth and everything) and it never came to anything.

NoseinBook3 · 16/03/2021 04:49

My OH and I were pretty ill with fluctuating temp, headache and sweats for just over 48 hours when we had AZ. The sore arm persisted for a good week. Still glad we had it.
