No side effects with Astra Zeneca!

Had AZ at the weekend. Was told side effects are very common!

Also I know a quite a few people who have had it and the vast majority have had side effects. Some feeling very ill.

I’ve not had a single side effect. I’m grateful I’m not feeling poorly but worry it’s not been as effective as it should be.

Literally everyone else I know who’s had it has had side effects.

Anyone else not had any side effects at all?

@MrsElf

I had no unpleasant side effects. I was a lot more thirsty than usual, did anyone else notice that? Notaflyingmonkey might be onto something, maybe drinking lots helps? I do get headachy when I’m dehydrated, and a couple of times I felt I was on the cusp of that, but had lots of liquid (nearly 3 times as much as normal, that day and the next 5, frequently feeling properly thirsty with dry mouth and everything) and it never came to anything.
I haven't had my jab yet, but I have long covid, and one sure sign a fatigue episode is coming on is drinking pint after pint of water.
Parkerwhereareyou · 16/03/2021 07:09

Five of us had it. One of us - arm doesn't even hurt. One had headache 24 hours after jab, for about 12 hours. Two of us had sore arm, exhaustion 24 hours after for 12 hours.

I had on Sat at 5pm.
Sun a bit tired.
Sun around 5pm v tired. Snd arm suddenly started hurting loads more.
Monday super tired - went to bed.
Mon 5pm felt suddenly a lot better and by 7/8 on like was fine.
This morning arm doesn't even hurt snd fell totally good.

The other person had exactly same as me, same time frame.

The fifth person - she felt worse. Same time frame but she had painful back etc. Took paracetamol and was ok.

Typos 🤦‍♀️

Confrontayshunme · 16/03/2021 07:14

I have a sore arm but that's it. Having covid would again be WAY worse, even if I had pretty severe side effects. Everyone I know agrees with me too. Funny how that works.

fishonabicycle · 16/03/2021 07:17

I work in a doctor's surgery. We have had one person call severely ill after a covid vaccine (and she was very elderly and it could have just happened anyway). So please don't worry.

Whenthesunshines · 16/03/2021 07:18

That’s interesting parker. That you started to feel more tired 24 hrs later.
My jab was at 4pm yesterday. I took paracetamol and drank a lot of water yesterday evening and slept like a baby last night. (I usually wake up several times in the night).
I have woken up feeling heavy but really rested.
I’ll see what today brings!

Iwillgotothegym · 16/03/2021 07:21

I had no side effects. Quite relieved to find this thread as I wondered if it meant it’s not working as well.

sixthtimelucky · 16/03/2021 08:01

No side effects at all, not even sore arm

CriticalWoman · 16/03/2021 08:09

Me - slightly tender where the needle went in for a couple of days
DH - shivery and feverish for a couple of days after

CriticalWoman · 16/03/2021 08:11

And 2 colleagues
One, female, felt fluey the next day; the other, male, sore arm for a day or 2.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 16/03/2021 08:11

Probably 50/50 amongst friends and colleagues that I've asked - a lot higher than people that had Pfizer.

There was an interesting program on R4 last week that said AZ reactions were typically a lot less with the second vaccine.
They also said more severe side effects if you'd recently had covid. I had my vaccination on day 29 after testing positive (you have to leave a 28 day interval) so I'm really cheered that round 2 should be a lot smoother. Smile

Still glad to have had it as soon as I was able.

Whatafustercluck · 16/03/2021 08:14

If you read the leaflet they give you 1 in 10 people have some mild symptoms, which is quite high.

Felt slightly under the weather for 24 hours, not debilitating - I didn't need paracetamol. Most of the other people I know who have had it reported the same - sore arm, bit heady, carried on as normal.

CriticalWoman · 16/03/2021 08:21

It will be interesting to see how people react to the second dose compared to their first dose.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 16/03/2021 08:23

I had mine about a month ago, arm ached a bit - like the flu jab - and that was it.

DahliaMacNamara · 16/03/2021 08:29

No noticeable negative side effects, but like @Whenthesunshines I slept without interruption, which is very unusual for me. No bother getting off to sleep either, 3 nights on the trot. I should get the AZ jab every week.

Nith · 16/03/2021 08:30

My arm was sorer than I normally experience with vaccinations for a few days, and that was all. DH had no side effects at all.

Inaquandry19 · 16/03/2021 08:33

I had mine yesterday morning. Was fine till 2.00am when I woke up cold sweating. Feeling a little better this morning but very lethargic.

Chloemol · 16/03/2021 08:35

I think you will find that people tend to talk more about it if they have side effects, but it’s down as 1 in 10. So actually most won’t have any

I had it Saturday, no side effects at all

Echobelly · 16/03/2021 08:39

Haven't had it yet, but it seems about a third of people I've known who've had AZ have had side effects. Anecdotally, looks like Pfizer doesn't cause them quite as often. Well, looks like I'll find out for myself some time next month

Whenthesunshines · 16/03/2021 13:57

I was thinking the same this morning!
hansgrueber · 16/03/2021 14:39

I had a bad side effect, I felt the need to call off for cream cakes on the way home, apart form that, nothing.

notaflyingmonkey · 16/03/2021 17:53

I bought myself some lemon puff biscuits, just in case I needed them after my jab. They were rank. Sad

Just reporting in: flu jab-type tenderness in my arm and quite a bad and persistent headache the day after,
but really not extreme. I've been taking regular paracetamol.

junecat · 20/03/2021 08:00

Had mine 4 days ago. Nothing at all until the morning after when I woke to a sore arm and a fuzzy head. Took a couple of pain killers and was fine. Arm still a little bit tender now but not enough to be bothered with pain killers or anything
