What are your opinions?

I feel that her dual heritage has been used against her, to push her towards Bangladesh.

However, I do feel she is a threat to the general public and it would be incredibly difficult to control/monitor her actions. Which may put the rest of the population at risk.

This is just an open debate. Let’s try not to rip each other apart, more of a healthy debate

Civilised countries do not run terrorist organisations. Terrorists find a way of getting where they want to illegally.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Have you ever read the history of Saddam and Taliban? Just those two will be sufficient for you.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 27/02/2021 00:20

I do not see any sympathetic musings. I see acknowledgment she’s a UK citizen and as such need to return to UK

littlepattilou · 27/02/2021 00:20
@littlepattilou I can't understand why and how anyone could defend her and feel sympathy? She knew the consequences of fleeing to Syria to join ISIS! Did she think we British citizens would welcome her back with balloons and banners and open arms?
Exactly - it's baffling!

It's because of the liberal-lefties like the ones supporting her on here, that we have had so many problems with terrorism, over the last few decades in the UK...

We don't want her. She can stay in Syria and die there for all we care 🤷‍♀️

She has no care or loyalty to the UK and its people.

@NoMackerelInSwindon

What bollocks you spout @Thewithesarehere

Hot off the press.

You come across as a bit of a fool.

Agree. ^ There is some shit being spouted by the Begum fangirls on here! Wink

Thewithesarehere · 27/02/2021 00:22

For all my care, She can rot in a British cell for the rest of her life @littlepattilou.
What you can’t be allowed is to bully other countries into taking her when they didn’t create her in the first place. She is our responsibility.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 27/02/2021 00:23

@littlepattilou agree!

I think it is also a case of people being scared of the "R" word being thrown around.

It is not racist to hate a terrorist.

VinylDetective · 27/02/2021 00:23

There certainly is.

Thewithesarehere · 27/02/2021 00:24

@littlepattilou
Don’t be obtuse. I am not a fan girl as you can see from the dozens of posts I have written here. but you are selectively ignoring the points I made so I don’t blame you. Smile

jamidays · 27/02/2021 00:24

@AnitaB888

She was stripped of British Citizenship on National Security grounds.

She chose to join an organisation committed to the annihilation of 'infidels' and the destruction of western civilisation, so of course she can't come back to UK.

And she never expressed regrets for this as an adult
Dannydevitoiloveyourart · 27/02/2021 00:25

Because right wing countries have never had any problems with terrorism...Hmm

I’m happy to be a leftie liberal if it means I can think critically, abhor institutional racism, and have respect for due process, and for consistent and just legal application.

Thewithesarehere · 27/02/2021 00:25

So @VinylDetective, have you thought a bit over my question? Are you that neighbour who dumps their bin on an elderly neighbour’s garden cos she can’t defend herself?

ChristOnAPeloton · 27/02/2021 00:26

Do some of you not understand the difference between Syria and ISIS? Serious question. She didn’t “fuck off to Syria”; she went over there to join the Islamic State- who were committing terrorist acts against the innocent Syrian civilians and the not-so-great-themselves Syrian government.

It’s a bit like conflating the IRA with the British government. Just makes you sound uninformed.

Interesting that you qualify Saddam Hussein's national socialism and the Taliban as 'civilised'.

As I say, you do come across as a bit of a fool.

It’s racist to claim she’s not British though.

I don’t think anyone on here particularly likes Begum - no more than we like Harold Shipman. Doesn’t stop either of them being British though.

Thewithesarehere · 27/02/2021 00:29

@NoMackerelInSwindon
But I am not saying that at all. I am saying they were created and fully supported (money + weapons) by us.

Thewithesarehere · 27/02/2021 00:31

Also, I am not a fool. I have worked on both sides for decades and have seen first hand what you read in newspapers.
Remember the time when Taliban were fighting a Jihad on our behalf and needed all those weapons?

This is why I nearly died laughing at your post.

wombat1a · 27/02/2021 00:31

I think there was a far simpler option for the Home Secretary, since she travelled on her sisters passport and threw one away it is very likely she does not hold a current UK passport. The Home Secretary has the right to refuse to issue a passport if it is not in the public interest. It most certainly is not in the public interest in the eyes of many to give this lady a passport because of the threat she holds being unrepentant of her acts of terrorism. No passport and she can not travel places, including coming back here to potentially make trouble.

Problem sorted, she remains a UK citizen but without a passport she stays where she is and can take any justice they decide she deserves there.

SirChing · 27/02/2021 00:32

Okey dokey, so for all those saying that we shouldn't take the vile woman back, I presume you are ok with any foreign criminal currently in the UK remaining here? You are ok with their country of citizenship rescinding it and leaving their criminals as our problem, because it's our country they committed the crimes in?

As long as you are ok with not being able to send back paedophiles, murderers, drug dealers and yes, terrorists, then I guess it's fair enough to strip Begum of her citizenship and make her Syria's problem.

It's a shame that we will have to keep so very many more terrorists here, that we planned to extradite, but obviously that's a price worth paying to those who want criminals to stay in the country they committed their crimes in.

It would have meant we had to keep Abu Hamza, a known radicalising terrorist, but I guess that's ok with you?

Blackberrycream · 27/02/2021 00:33

@Thewithesarehere
In your world, everyone seems to be responsible bar the perpetrators.
Bollocks indeed.

womaninatightspot · 27/02/2021 00:33

I struggle with this one as she was so young; anyone else remember the stupid crap you got up to at 15 and you felt so grown up.

That said the cost of having her back here would be millions, the economy is in the shit and to other, disillusioned, misinformed young women she's a massive deterrent.

Whilst I do want to believe in fundamental human rights people use it to their advantage to fuck with the system. It's not what it was designed for; supposed to protect people not allow them to behave atrociously and then when it doesn't go their way fall back on the "my right are being violated."

I think it boils down to you want to fight with terrorists, off you pop, but you're not welcome back here.

Thewithesarehere · 27/02/2021 00:35
@Thewithesarehere

In my world, everyone should act like a grown up and take full responsibility of their own actions.
In my world, we shouldn’t dump our terrorists on other people’s lands. We should bring them back and lock them away and the keys.
In my world, we don’t give free publicity to a terrorist.

Thewithesarehere · 27/02/2021 00:36

This x 100.

Nebulacoffee · 27/02/2021 00:37

I’ve felt from the very start that she’s being made an example of.
It’s good for young would-be terrorist sympathisers to see her begging to return and denounce her actions.

I personally think she should be allowed to return. I think she was a groomed and exploited child.
But I understand why the government has decided to be hard on her and if I were the person in charge of national security who has to make tough judgements every day, well I might make the same call.

SirChing · 27/02/2021 00:37

You are absolutely right. We and the US funded the Taliban to fight against the Russians, and Saddam to keep Iran in check. People don't like to think about where these organisations got their cash and weapons from though, and forget that we LOVED Bin Laden when he was starting out. The CIA and MI6 are the reason they existed in the first place!
