Am I the only woman who has never been sent a dick pic?

Or any other sexually aggressive message online?

I am, of course, in nothing but happy about this, but a lot of people talk about how women are constantly bombarded with obscene messages online.

Maybe it's because I haven't online dated since the turn of the millennium (yes, I'm that old)? Dick pics and horrible messages were definitely a thing then, but never got any.

I occasionally get random blokes trying to friend me or message me on social media, but I always block, so might have been dodging a bullet there.

My DP has sent me one. We'd been together a while so not shocking. Never had an unsolicited one. And actually the one guy who would have been far too experimental for me checked before we even chatted that much as it was important to him and didn't want to waste his time. I was relieved and surprised how polite he was about it all.

Well there's your answer. Smart phones and apps didn't exist in 2000 and the culture of online dating was nothing Ike it is now.

It's like saying "Am I the only one who's never downloaded a song to iTunes? Well of course I've never owned an Apple Device but still"

Nope but I've been with DH since our early twenties and I hadn't got a smartphone at that point. Maybe I should get DH to send me one just for the experience?!

I haven't. I can't imagine getting involved with anyone quite so unsophisticated - but then I've never done online dating which fills me with horror.

I’ve never been sent one either. Did OLD about 10 years ago, but filtered heavily and ended up only really talking to decent men. I’m sure not online dating for 20 years and blocking men who randomly contact you must have something to do with it though!

Me neither because I am old. if you wanted a dick pic in my day (and I really didn't) you would have to take a photo of it, send the film off to Truprint, get the prints back and send it off in the post. However I think Truprint would report you to the police or something. Grin

Even now though I really don't get why it would be in any way desirable.

A selfie isn't the same as a dick pic any more than a self portrait is the same as a life drawing.

The question should be - has anyone who has been involved with modern dating NOT been sent a dick pic?

If you were last dating before the normal use of smartphones then it’s quite unlikely that you’ve been sent a random dick pic.

Got them before being with DH a little bit, they weren't quite that impressive on a LG flip up phone. My friends got one the other day from a guy on tinder and it was the size of a pringles can.

I don't do online dating and I still get loads of creepy messages on facebook and Instagram.

I got unsolicited dick pics sent to me when I first downloaded snapchat - anyone could find you based on your username and send you pictures. This was around 7 years ago, I deleted the app.

I don’t think most women who are sent one are going to realise they are so ‘unsophisticated’ (should read fucking creepy) until they get it flashing up in their messages.

I haven't been sent one. About 12 years ago a random bloke in a pub showed me one on his mobile phone if that counts. Hadn't been talking to me, just pulled me aside as I was walking to the loo and showed me this picture of an erect penis. I walked away quickly.

I have also never been subject to any unwanted sexual suggestions, advances etc in my life. It's awful that so many women are, but I never have been. It seems to be such a truism and taken for granted fact of life that women have to fight off men.

Sometimes I feel a bit of a freak that I don't know what that's like. I feel very odd saying that because of course I wouldn't want it and it must be horrible to experience it.

I have two young adult DSs I have discussed with them how sending a picture of their penis to someone is not a good idea for so many reasons. I hope they were listening.

@JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows - dick picks were definitely a thing then - harder to do (not pun intended), but happened. I remember hearing a lot about how you'd get loads of gross messages. And that's when OLD was mostly considered for weirdos and you didn't admit to it Grin

Similarly never had any unwanted sexual advances. I think I’m fairly normal but it’s just not been my experience.

I've had never online dated, and haven't even dated since years before the millennium (in fact I don't think I even would have said 'dating' way back in the olden days Smile).

That said I've never received a dick pic, probably due to the above.
