I’m starting to think that we just need to get rid of the men. Just, chuck them all in a volcano or something. Life wouldn’t be perfect, but it won’t be this insanity constantly.

Faithtrusts · 14/02/2021 17:37

This has never been right... male bone structure is more dense, including the chin, hands buffers, shoulders wider with naturally more power and thicker musculature is joints

how can that possibly be right that is is ever a fair fight?

Userguaranteed · 14/02/2021 17:38

@BarbaraofKent

Here is what Fallon has to say about it...
Wow! This one's sick for sure!

This sounds like anti-trans propaganda TBH

Why? A woman's skull was smashed in by a born male, who has all the physical benefits provided by a male puberty. This is not about anti trans. But it is about women's safety and an example of what happens to women when safeguarding is thrown out of the window in the name of inclusivity.

Rabblemum · 14/02/2021 17:46

I thought this would happen, change gender, get medals. I do believe in trans rights but in this case you can't fight basic biology. So sad for the women involved and transgender rights.

testingmitb · 14/02/2021 17:47

Imapotato

"But they’re living as a female, hence the male or female comment."

What is 'living as a female?' How does one do this living as a female thingy?

KittensTeaAndCake · 14/02/2021 17:51

You also need to be in an appropriate weight class.

You really believe a man and woman of the same weight/build are physically equal?
My DSs have been stronger than me from about the age of 12.

Neron · 14/02/2021 17:51

I'm a martial artist. Training with males, yes no problem. Fighting them, definitely not.

It isn't as simple as not fighting. Competing is a job for people, and depending on your age, weight, level of skill, type of art - sometimes these are the only fights to have. If they want to earn money to pay the bills, then they have to take the fight.

VasterThanEmpires · 14/02/2021 17:54

@zoemum2006

This sounds like bull. Fights have referees. No one should have their heads bashed in (man or woman).

You also need to be in an appropriate weight class.

This sounds like anti-trans propaganda TBH.

Fairly sure this person is in their appropriate weight class.

But since men and women of equal weight/size have very different strength it's still extremely unfair. Because one of these people is male and the other is female. That's the problem. And that's why we have male and female classes - because it is unfair and often unsafe for men and women to compete against one another.

Surely everyone knows this though?

Neron · 14/02/2021 17:55

Not the point but do they wear helmets?
In some amateur level fights, and under 16s yes. Professional, no.

BeautifulStar · 14/02/2021 17:57

Yes, wearing dresses and makeup and surgically removing your penis (no idea if FF has had surgery btw) do not mean you are “living as a woman”. You are simply a man in makeup and a dress with no penis who wants to pretend they are a woman and expects everyone else to pretend also.
I am all for people expressing themselves through the way they present their outward appearance but not when it starts to impinge on women’s right and safety.

intheenddoesitreallymatter · 14/02/2021 18:00

@MissMarpleDarling

I hate boxing and fully support transgender rights but that is not ok.
This, in spades.

Regardless of gender however, I find fighting barbaric and feel it has absolutely no place in society. However, that is an argument for another day.

o8O8O8o · 14/02/2021 18:00

I have sympathy for trans gender people and believe they should be treated with the same respect and dignity as anyone else, but anyone who thinks that identifying as a woman negates their biological attributes as a man is just plain deluded
agree!

Benjispruce2 · 14/02/2021 18:01

Disgraceful. Why don’t they refuse to fight those fighters?

Palladin · 14/02/2021 18:02

It's disgusting. What kind of society sanctions this?

Soundbyte · 14/02/2021 18:06

I remember the days when men would bleat on about how if women want equality does that mean they can punch women in the face.

That’s all I can see here :(

I agree with what @Cam2020 said about trans rights but there are also a lot of aspects of the TRA movement that seem to be about punishing women for our progress and shoving us back to where they think our places are. It’s doing a lot of damage to genuine trans folk who just want to be able to live their lives. No one wins here.

@CatsAndDogsAndHorses

I like this. As a tall woman who was always fairly strong, I spent years assuming that I wasn't necessarily any weaker than a man (thankfully I'd never had to find out!). Until I had sons and spent a year doing karate with them and I discovered that my eldest, at 13, had a much stronger grip than I did and was able to overpower me. At 13. He was still physically smaller than I am but having a male body means more than just size.
lifeturnsonadime · 14/02/2021 18:08

@Benjispruce2

Disgraceful. Why don’t they refuse to fight those fighters?
Because they would be called a transphobic bigot for refusing to believe that Fallon is a woman.

Because they have worked hard to become professional at what they do.

Because they need the prize/ competitor money they have trained for.

CatsAndDogsAndHorses · 14/02/2021 18:12

@Benjispruce2

Disgraceful. Why don’t they refuse to fight those fighters?
Because they will be labelled a terf. Be threatened with violence, rape and death. Face potential charges for 'misgendering' someone. And that could be the end of their career. Just look at what happened to JKR for writing a simple sensible essay.
