@BrumBoo

Fighters are matched by category and weight

There's usually something else that separates people into categories in sports as well, or should MMA fighting now just be based on those two factors? They don't separate male and females in sports for the fun or for discrimination - it's because men and women are not compatible for competing against each other fairly.

Very good point, and you're right. If I was a fighter, there's no way I'd have wanted to go up against a fighter than had been born male. But, presumably, the fighters that did had that choice and decided to.

OP thanks for posting here because this shit needs sunlight.

To anyone who votes - AIBU ..., how is this acceptable? Imagine if this person was in the ring with your daughter.

I hate boxing and fully support transgender rights but that is not ok.

BrumBoo · 14/02/2021 16:30

@AbsitivelyPosolutely

This is their job though, why should they miss out on work because someone who shouldn't be there is insisting it's their right? Look at the culture we live in, if female sportspeople start refusing to partake because of sex unfairness, they are the ones looking to lose sponsorship and placements due to being seen as transphobic. Women can't win in this situation whatever stance they take.

The problem is that by supporting a TWs right to be treated as a biological woman

Well, as a female athlete, if you declare that you are not going to go up against a particular competitor because they were born male, then you risk having your entire reputation smeared as a 'Transphobe' and 'bigot', risk losing sponsorship, risk your whole career. So I don't think it's quite as easy as just saying no.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 14/02/2021 16:32

Aaash post fail soz Grin

Yes, so saying TWAW with no exception you are accepting a huge degree of collateral damage. Otherwise to draw any line in the sand to indicate what is and isn't ok will be deemed transphobic.

Boxing is a horrible 'sport' . It should be banned.

Doingitaloneandproud · 14/02/2021 16:33

That's disgusting. I'm sorry if trans people would like to compete then fine, but have a category separate for them. It's an unfair competition and they are well aware of this.

This isn't boxing, and regardless it's not a bad sport when done fairly. As with any sport, properly regulated and taken seriously including accepting sex/the original biology of a person is a factor of fair and equal competition.
NelAntartic · 14/02/2021 16:39

They had a choice?

Fucking he'll what a god-awful thing to say.

They had no choice - if they'd refused on the grounds that FF was a biological male with undeniable physiological advantage, their careers would have been over for being bigoted transphobes. No one would represent them. No one would sponsor them.

As much as I abhor his sports, women spend years training for the opportunity to fight in a professional arena.

Choice? Did they fuck.

They don’t need to pretend to care so they? Caring, and being kind is what women have to do. And that is a man, not a woman.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 14/02/2021 16:54

This is horrific, what a vile individual. Who enjoys cracking another person’s skull?

TheCatThatGotTheCream · 14/02/2021 16:55

Fighters are matched by category and weight. No one was force to fight her - they took on the challenge. And were paid to do so.

Yes, they are matched by category and weight. But men are intrinsically stronger than women. Also they weren't forced to fight her however this is their job, their livelihood; if they refused to compete then they could be losing out on titles etc, which would then put them at a disadvantage within their sport, losing them advertising opportunities etc. Its like saying about a woman who works for a shitty employer that doesn't bother their arse about providing breastfeeding spaces, maternity leave etc, well it's their choice to work for them.

itsgettingwierd · 14/02/2021 16:56

My son competes in sport and has competes within a classification due to disability.

I believe sports should introduce some sort of system for transgender athletes too.

Pure biology tells us they don't compete equally because sex determines the hormones and development - not gender or identity of gender.

It's not too much out the box thinking to be inclusive outside of pure male and female (men's and womans) races.

I would hope that inclusive categories would also be courage more transgender people into sport.

True #BeKind is just for women (of the xx variety).

I feel physically sick. Please ask MNHQ to edit your post and put a warning on that it's grafic. I'd say it needs a trigger warning too.

I disagree. This stuff needs to be out in the open needs dealing with. They’d love you to hide this and pretend it doesn’t happen
