To feel somewhat upset with this Valentine's card from my husband?

My husband is a typical last-minute card and present-buyer, but this really takes the biscuit. His excuses - it was the last one left in Tesco Express, Asda was too busy and he had forgotten his glasses. Excuse for not buying one earlier - he is recovering from his Covid jab ( he had it on Thursday). Excuse for not buying one before then - none.

Haven't read whole thread, so it might have already been suggested to get him a "get well soon" card for his next birthday.

Just a typical man thing todo 😂

Wearethechampionsmyfriend · 15/02/2021 18:27

I'd let it become a tradition and bring it out every year and give it him 😂 If it has your name in it I'd simply cross it out and put his, crappy card deserves crappy response 🤭🤭

My exH gave me £100 in £1 coins, wrapped up in a nappy, for Valentine's Day. Then, he took it back, to pay towards the new boiler. Not sure what to say about that. Except that he's an ex. Likewise, the boiler.

A friend of mine got his mum a "you are like a mother to me" Christmas card. Luckily he spotted his error lol.

My sister did this for my mum’s birthday once. She said she didn’t understand the wording and thought it was fine.

Oh no, that's too funny

Personally, a card or even a “Happy Valentines Day” would have been nice. I’d have been happy that my husband had even tried.

Vanilli1978 · 15/02/2021 18:55

Omg I could’ve written this post! Got exactly the same card from my husband. The wife card was damaged so he picked the one behind without checking. Made me laugh. He was mortified when I pointed it out though 😂

Pliudev · 15/02/2021 19:02

If he had his vaccination last week he's in a vulnerable group and he has not built any immunity. So the idea of him going from shop to shop looking for a card is what would upset me. Treat the card as a laugh and tell him he will have to.make up for it at a later date.

nancywhitehead · 15/02/2021 19:05

That's very funny. At least he made some effort and got you a card! I think if he's been ill then it was a bit much to expect him to pre-empt that and get you a card before he was ill.

Ha!! This is so funny. I’m sorry I think it’s more important how he treats you in general rather than what kind of card he buys. I also bought the last card in the shop- it’s was awful but I wrote that in the card and we had a giggle. 🤷‍♀️

Harmonypuss · 15/02/2021 19:13

Some people are really stupid, my mother-in-law sent her son and Ian card when our son was born that said something about a lovely grandson on the front. Hubby didn't understand why I was upset until I explained that she was implying that I'd just given birth to my own grandson! It was a card that should have been sent TO her not FROM her!

Mermaid67 · 15/02/2021 19:20

My husband( who normally doesn’t buy cars) ordered one online because he didn’t want to go to shops, I was surprised and delighted ( married 28 years!)

Mermaid67 · 15/02/2021 19:21

*cards !

Losttheequipment · 15/02/2021 19:25

I’d have laughed Grin

Juelz · 15/02/2021 19:49

At least your hubby didn’t order you flowers to be delivered on 14th March! Dick! 🙄
No card either!

janex1 · 15/02/2021 19:50

why do married people need Valentine's cards ? I don't get it.

Stompythedinosaur · 15/02/2021 19:55

I think that there's no problem with being in a relationship where you don't celebrate VD, but it's a bit disingenuous to pretend not to understand why others celebrate. It's hardly an unusual perspective to celebrate VD with your partner.

Ken1976 · 15/02/2021 19:58

This reminds of when my son was a teenager, he sent me a Mother's Day card 'to someone who's like a mother to me ' . It still tickles me 30 years later Smile

No one needs any kind of card on any occasion. They're just a little thing to brighten up a dull day.
