To feel somewhat upset with this Valentine's card from my husband?

My husband is a typical last-minute card and present-buyer, but this really takes the biscuit. His excuses - it was the last one left in Tesco Express, Asda was too busy and he had forgotten his glasses. Excuse for not buying one earlier - he is recovering from his Covid jab ( he had it on Thursday). Excuse for not buying one before then - none.

To feel somewhat upset with this Valentine's card from my husband?

Sorry but this is funny- i’d definitely keep the card for future piss taking in the future!

WannabemoreWeaver · 14/02/2021 22:00

Why should you lower your expectations and give him credit for trying? Sounds like he put bugger all effort in and still expects credit.

onionsndsage · 14/02/2021 22:06

Hmmat least you got one

JanuaryJonez · 14/02/2021 22:12

Well at least you got one! My DH used exactly the same excuse to not buy me one!!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/02/2021 22:14

To be entirely fair, the writing is not the first thing you see, so if he was in a hurry without his glasses....

For I suspect similar reasons, a BiL’s Gf gave me and dh one at Christmas saying, To My Mother (!) in silvery writing that wasn’t clear at first sight.

Corneliusmurphy · 14/02/2021 22:22

Sorry I laughed Grin
my nephew bought his mum a birthday card for ‘someone who has been like a mother to me’ well yes, very like a mother in fact having given birth to him 😂 he just thought the card was nice.

GabsAlot · 14/02/2021 22:22

quite funny in a way better tha not getting one although im not really into it all

Newnameagain111 · 14/02/2021 22:22

Shame the Scum Online have picked up this story Angry

BettyOBarley · 14/02/2021 22:26

I would find it really funny if DH got me that, we all make mistakes!

Ffs the papers are awful.
I'd pay a premium happily if it stops journalists lifting threads.

Movinghouse2015 · 14/02/2021 23:22

@Boysgrownbutstillathome
The picture of the card came up in my news feed, I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise. It's not an article I'd usually open.

Emeraldshamrock · 14/02/2021 23:23

Ask for the thread to be deleted if he finds his way back to it. Flowers
Best of luck.

RootyT00t · 14/02/2021 23:24

Journos really can be proper arseholes.

Norwayreally · 14/02/2021 23:26

I hate that teddy bear so much. My Mum is a big fan of it so she often buys me cards bearing it and I always cringe inside.

I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day at all so DH and I don’t even acknowledge it as a thing.

Boysgrownbutstillathome · 14/02/2021 23:27

I wouldn't have said I was fuming, but I suppose it makes a better headline than "somewhat upset". This is the first time I have started a thread on Mumsnet and I've made the tabloids!

I maybe a little disappointed but i would see funny side of it.

gingganggooleywotsit · 15/02/2021 06:35

Haha!! He could have made one instead

HikeForward · 15/02/2021 08:36

Thanks for making me laugh this morning! I haven’t laughed in ages, it felt good 😄

As he’d forgotten his glasses I think you’d best let him off the hook 😂😂😂

Reminds me of when my dad gave my mum a birthday card with what he thought was a nice sunflower on it and turned out to be a circle of washing up gloves! Apparently it was dark in the shop 😂

Lolalolalolalolalola · 15/02/2021 08:51

This is hilarious
At least u got one
I woke up to nothing he said he’s going the shops soon
I told him not to bother forget it

honeyrider · 15/02/2021 09:53

This came up on my news feed and is featured in The Irish Sun.

Get the Sun story made into a personalised card for next Valentine's day Grin
CustardySergeant · 15/02/2021 14:02

OMG! What a faux pas! He gave you the wrong card and now you've found out that he's gay and planning to divorce you and marry his boyfriend. That must be such a shock.
I don't suppose the fiancé is too happy about the card he got in error either. Sad
