To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

No not after every wee.. like you my loo is clean I'm clean and I use paper.. i wash my hands alot . But not after every wee at home..

SweatyBetty20 · 05/02/2021 23:08

Gross - I live alone and always wash my hands after I’ve been to the loo. Over the last month I’ve had two men in for two days fitting nee wardrobes, and before Xmas had three in for two days laying flooring - they used the loo countless times and never washed their hands once; my home office is next to the loo, no taps went on and the sink was dry. I was so grossed out I cleaned everywhere they’d been every night after they’d left.

simmeringexistentialdread · 05/02/2021 23:08

Surely the flush lever has the highest concentration of germs?

I think if you touch the lever, then you should wash your hands, otherwise you are likely spreading faecal particles around the house, and now the door handle is contaminated also.

MiaMc · 05/02/2021 23:08

After this thread I’m never shaking hands with anyone ever again

Shaking hands is done. I’ll certainly not miss that after this pandemic.

LubaLuca · 05/02/2021 23:08

Those who don't wash your hands because you're fastidious about sanitising the flush handle, door etc - why the inconsistency? Why not wash your hands as well if you're very keen on cleanliness and like the surfaces in your home to be sanitary? It doesn't have to be one or the other.

TheCatThatGotTheCream · 05/02/2021 23:09

Most of the time, yes, I do. If I get up to pee in the middle of the night, nope!

Lordamighty · 05/02/2021 23:09

I wash my hands every single time I use the loo. I hope those of you that don’t are not employed anywhere serving food to the public.

Whitecup4 · 05/02/2021 23:10

You know men hold their dicks to wee....then use the same hand (usually right handed) to then flush the toilet after they have also pit the seat down.....you don’t wash after people touching that then you touch it....disgusting!!

Also sometimes people get wee or pop or blood on their hands by accident then flush- your touching that!!

saraclara · 05/02/2021 23:10

I live alone. My toilet is clean. I haven't had a visitor to the house since Adam was a lad Sad
So no, I don't wash my hands every time. The only germs in this house are my own.

BohemianDream · 05/02/2021 23:10

Well I suppose none of you give blowjobs either unless the penis beaker is within close reach.

Alexandernevermind · 05/02/2021 23:10

Thats revolting. How can you not wash your hands after using the loo? Okay, if course you don't wee on your hands, but you've touched the seat and flusher handle or button! I wouldn't even drop a tissue into my loo without washing my hands.

jazzandh · 05/02/2021 23:11

I bet introduction of germs from outside the home has way more impact than any internal hygiene.

If someone has a bug that's one thing, but cold and flu viruses are more likely to be on door handles after sniffing and sneezing.

I bet anything lurking on the average persons hands after using the bathroom, unless they have an active noro type bug is probably negligible and generally non transmissable.

joystir59 · 05/02/2021 23:11

I don't. Most definitely and thoroughly after every poo but not after wees at home.

shouldreallynamechangemore · 05/02/2021 23:12

Thank you for giving me my first proper laugh in days

Excellent point. And I find it hard to believe that anyone not being bothered to wash their hands after the loo is really conscientious about cleaning their toilet flush and door handles. When are these jobs done? After each use of the loo?
Fieldofyellowflowers · 05/02/2021 23:12

I do but it is not just me using the bog at home so...

torquewench · 05/02/2021 23:12

@simonjt why? No urine touches the sheets. Ever.

And no, I dont wipe, i dont dribble so dont bother. Fresh pjs every night though, just like i wear fresh clothes every day.

I probably leak more in sweat than urine. And always shower first thing after getting out of bed. Sheets changed x2 a week but thats.mostly because bastard cats have made them muddy

SpilltheTea · 05/02/2021 23:12

I do, it's automatic. To the posters that seem to get urine on their hands, do you use just a single sheet of paper, or are yours just really thin because I don't understand.

allotmentgardener · 05/02/2021 23:12

Wow. I am agog. Wash your hands people. Is this a joke ?

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 05/02/2021 23:12

Washing my hands after the loo is so ingrained that it’s an automatic reflex followed by a quick squirt of moisturiser as I can’t bear dry hands.

I genuinely thought most people washed hands after loo including at home. I’ll be a bit more careful touching and eating things around peoples houses once restrictions are lifted after reading this thread.

EternalOptimist7 · 05/02/2021 23:13

I couldn’t not! Basic hygiene.

Yellownotblue · 05/02/2021 23:13

Well some people seem allergic to water.

But for the rest of us, yes we do wash our hands after every wee. And before every meal. And about 20 times while I cook. And after I touch the bin or hoover. Etc.

Seriously, if you have hot water and soap, why on earth would you not wash your hands? The mind boggles. You have access, you know you should. What the hell is holding you back?

WannabeOT · 05/02/2021 23:13

I don't. I need to moisturise every time I use soap and sometimes I genuinely can't be bothered to find my hand cream. Also I wee a lot so sometimes I feel it's a waste of hand cream Blush

doctorhamster · 05/02/2021 23:13

I don't wash after a pee. In 40 years I've never been ill from failing to wash my hands after a pee either. What disease do all the Pearl clutches think they'll get if they don't wash their hands? Confused

Cissyandflora · 05/02/2021 23:14

That’s not mud.
