To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

OP posts:
Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 06/02/2021 11:44

@SqeakyHindge - most of your post is completely irrelevant.
You can call me what you like. I literally couldn't care less. I'm not having a bad day thank you. I know that I don't go around deliberately spreading germs for potentially vulnerable people to pick up. There's a potentially fatal virus going round at the moment, in case you hadn't heard. But sure, you carry on going to the toilet then touching surfaces afterwards. Sharing all your lovely germs. And I'm the obnoxious one?

StanfordPines · 06/02/2021 11:46

Urine is usually sterile too so even if you get wee on your hands it wouldn’t matter!

Like I said, if you are happy that urine is sterile then would you be happy to like a urinal?

Toilet and wee aside it’s just good to wash your hands an extra time in the day. I still don’t understand why people don’t do it. Plenty of reasons to wash your hands but no reasons not to.

SqeakyHindge · 06/02/2021 11:47

@Mingkong. You missed the part of hand gel but ok I’m reason why we in this mess if that makes you feel better.

StarlightLady · 06/02/2021 11:47

...and what is puzzling me even more, is why start a thread on a forum to boast that you don’t?

user1493494961 · 06/02/2021 11:48

I always do.

Whatafool123 · 06/02/2021 11:49

Oh yuk! Yes, I do. Every time. It’s basic hygiene. My hands just feel dirty until I wash them.

Ginfordinner · 06/02/2021 11:49

Exactly.

"I'm a dirty skank and I'm proud of it"

Confused
NuniaBeeswax · 06/02/2021 11:50

Leaving your piss to ferment overnight is one of those things I have literally only ever heard about on MN.

Purplecup472 · 06/02/2021 11:52

I definitely do after every wash.

Treat yourself to some amazing soap from like Bath and bodyworks or Scentsy and you will love washing your hands.

Good grief. No, @SqeakyHindge, you're the one missing the point. You use the toilet then you touch the door handle to get out, refusing to wash your hands as it's 'pointless' according you and, apparently, food hygiene course leaders. Then you use hand gel afterwards. To protect yourself. After leaving millions of bacteria for the next person who touches that surface to pick up. How are you not understanding this?!

londonscalling · 06/02/2021 11:57

@WillYouDoTheFandango

Yes. Always. ExP has told DS he doesn’t need to after a wee and it really pisses me off (pun intended)
That's disgusting. Men hold their penis to have a wee. Of course they need to wash their hands.

Women can go to the loo without touching anything apart from their clothes (if they drip dry)!

Blue Peter badge for using hand gel .how the hell are you not getting this ?

TurquoiseDragon · 06/02/2021 12:00

Hand gel is not a substitute, unless you have absolutely no way of washing your hands. It's just an added layer.

I wash my hands every time.

Meowchickameowmeow · 06/02/2021 12:01

Using hand gel is pointless if you're hands are filthy. Soap and water is always the best option.

Happyone8 · 06/02/2021 12:02

@Beseigedbykillersquirrels that’s why after I wash my hands I use a piece of tissue to open the door handle. I remember watching a programme about door handles on public toilets and there was more bacteria then the toilet scrubbing brush on them. Grim people not washing their hands and touching them 🤮

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/02/2021 12:08
@Toorapid - how did Typhoid Mary, a cook who admitted to rarely washing her hands, spread typhoid to others? How is it, in your opinion, transmitted? Because the NHS website says it is spread through faeces and, less commonly, urine. You ought to get on to the NHS and tell them that their website is wrong.
I'm not sure where you are looking but I've just looked and got this:

*How the infection spreads
The Salmonella typhi bacteria will be in the poo (stools) of an infected person after they have been to the toilet.

If they don't wash their hands properly afterwards, they can contaminate any food they touch. Anyone else who eats this food may also become infected.

Less commonly, the Salmonella typhi bacteria can be passed out in an infected person's pee (urine).

Again, if an infected person handles food without washing their hands properly after peeing, they can spread the infection to someone else who eats the contaminated food.*

In addition to the link to the mayo clinic I posted earlier.

Cattenberg · 06/02/2021 12:09

Yes, I always do. I used to have a colleague who clearly didn’t bother - she’d walk out of her cubicle and straight out of the bathroom. People like her are the reason I pull my sleeves over my hands, so I don’t have to touch bathroom door handles.

Spidey66 · 06/02/2021 12:09

Ok I admit, at home I wash my hand s about 80% of the time after having a wee. I always wash gefore preparing food, cleaning up afterbthe dog (well hand gel outside and a wash when i get in) emptying the bins etc.

I have really, really dry skin and am prone to eczema. Obviously I use cream but infected eczema has, in the past, given me an infection requiring antibiotics.

I avoid anti bac hand wash like the plague. It's evil for drying out skin.

RokosBasilDish · 06/02/2021 12:09

@Hopalong28374 I constantly wash my hands through the day. I don’t have allergies. I’ve never had the flu or any virus in my life. Basic hygiene has not ruined my immune system.

RokosBasilDish · 06/02/2021 12:13

Urine is a waste product. It’s not sterile

ineedaholidaynow · 06/02/2021 12:17

I like the poster who doesn’t wash their hands but does wash their pjs every day! Think they are concentrating on the wrong thing.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 06/02/2021 12:19

@CaptainMyCaptain yes. I was responding to a poster who said that Typhoid Mary had nothing to do with handwashing whereas the NHS website says it does. We were looking at, and saying, the same thing.

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/02/2021 12:21

@Beseigedbykillersquirrels sometimes the quotes get mixed up and I'm not sure who I'm replying to Smile. No offence to you, someone out there has got it wrong.

SqeakyHindge · 06/02/2021 12:25

Hasn’t left house in almost year, only public loo used is 1station u wouldn’t let ur dog piss in, has issue about germs & ott hand washing. Used hand gel after opening skanky station door.

And people thought it strange that only place I can take a shit in my own toilet at home.

Fck me if I can cause of doomsday wait until Friday night and see what goes on in pubs toilets.

Bored like really bored now

midnightstar66 · 06/02/2021 12:29

Well my dc certainly don't. Me, yes out of habit unless I've been disturbed by door going etc. I can't see any harm coming to those that don't though
