To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

Doctor who compared childbirth deaths and infections between a ward where doctors washed hands and one where they didn't (obviously not recently). The differences were stark.

To be fair, those doctors were touching corpses and then going on to touch labouring women without handwashing. Rotting corpse is rather more of a health risk than a miniscule amount of fresh piss.

I mean it's still pretty grim...

@Whatafool123

Oh yuk! Yes, I do. Every time. It’s basic hygiene. My hands just feel dirty until I wash them.
Mine feel dirty too - that’s why I have to do it!

That said I’m surprised so many people are surprised.

StripeyDeckchair · 06/02/2021 12:39

OMG not washing after using the toilet is gross.
Of course it is totally unreasonable, unhygienic and revolting not to wash every time you use the toilet.

WhoWh0 · 06/02/2021 12:41

Absolutely horrified that people would walk past the basin to leave the toilet, without washing their hands every time.

midnightstar66 · 06/02/2021 12:44

I just can't get too upset about this. For the last 35 years I've been mucking out and grooming horses then going out for picnic rides or having lunch at the stables and now my dc do it too. You could of course rinse a little grime away with a bottle of water or smear it round your hands a bit with some sanitizer but your hands will still be far from clean. We're the healthiest bunch I know. Dd1 in the last year of primary school has only ever been off once for chicken pox 6 years ago

As I said before " Great for you all!!! Delighted for you !! What about everyone else who comes in contact with your filthy hands ????? Jesus.
midnightstar66 · 06/02/2021 12:48

No one else comes in contact with my filthy hands? Apart from the horses but they honestly don't mind Smile

Sindragosan · 06/02/2021 12:48

Slatterns the lot of you. Wash your hands every single time!

Imapotato · 06/02/2021 12:48

We do in our house. Even the kids since they were tots. It’s just a good habit to get into. Most bathroom as have a sink so it’s no hardship to give your hands a quick wash.

Yes this is what I was saying. I once lived with someone who was obsessed with keeping everything clean- bleached the entire kitchen/bathroom daily, was always scrubbing everything. I have literally never been so ill as when I lived with her. Caught every opportunistic infection going.

My house is clean but I am not obsessive about bleaching everything and ive never been healthier. If I am out I always wash my hands but I dont bother for having a wee at home. There are lots of studies that show that children who are around animals when young suffer less cancers, allergies and things like asthma when older.

Januaryissodull · 06/02/2021 12:54

@BerniesMittens I always used to think people were a bit precious about not eating food prepared by someone else, I am now thinking they had the right idea

I'm funny about accepting food off people and this is exactly why.

I know people looking at you mil who have sparkling looking homes, not a speck of dust to be found. But are VERY lax on hand washing, not bothering after a wee or before preparing food.

You're not going to get sick from a few missed cobwebs or from re using your pjs. You could get sick from not washing your hands.

Washing your hands is one of the most basic ways to avoid spreading nasty bugs around.

@Toorapid

Coronavirus can be spread through urine. There was some suggestion way back, that men were more at risk due to the use of urinals.

tatutata · 06/02/2021 13:24

I do. My sister doesn't. It's the toilet flush makes it unhyhienicbit to, so becaaue I don't flush at night, I also don't wash my hands, but the rest of the time I do.

islockdownoveryet · 06/02/2021 13:35

I actually can’t believe it’s up for debate , there is a sink in a toilet yes so what lazy arse excuse have you got . Get them hands washed you dirty sods !!

finished31 · 06/02/2021 13:40

Is this actually a joke?

On what planet wouldn't you wash your hands?

Happyone8 · 06/02/2021 13:46

I know - I’m in disbelief here . Can’t believe people are trying to justify it Hmm
Russellbrandshair · 06/02/2021 13:49

I don’t. Not at home.

Strangely I’m still alive and extremely healthy 🤷‍♀️

GaryTheDemon · 06/02/2021 13:50

This is so grim. Why would you not? Explains the usual prevalence of stomach bugs.

FreekStar · 06/02/2021 13:55

All those saying hang a wee is such a germ ridden exercise- do you never have oral sex?

Ineedsleepzz · 06/02/2021 13:56

No!

I wouldn't have any hands left. I wee so often.

I Shouldn't admit it, but no I definitely don't. It's a running joke with my friends. They definitely all think I'm gross.

FreekStar · 06/02/2021 13:57

As if stomach bugs are caused by people not washing their hands after a wee in their own toilet which nobody else has used!

Ginfordinner · 06/02/2021 13:57

Last year, just before lockdown when we were still office based. We had notices put up in the loos at work to remind people to wash their hands. I was astonished that people needed reminding.

Clearly, and disappointingly, they do.

FreekStar · 06/02/2021 13:59

People only don't admit it in real life because so many are like the germaphobes on this thread- or at least they pretend to be. It's fashionable to pretend to be OCD about germs. Mycat licks itself clean after a wee and a poo and she's fine!

Therarestone · 06/02/2021 14:02

Here come the clean competitors.

Before you know it they'll be banging on about removing the shower head to scrub all over twice a day at the very least.
