To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

Some people are asking "where is the risk?" don't understand risk assessment.

Risk assessment is about balancing the risks with the costs.

There's a tiny chance that e coli or other chance may be on your hands. It takes seconds to wash your hands with some soap and nearly eliminate this risk. So why not do it?

Now, if it took 20 minutes to wash your hands, the assessment would be different. Or if soap cost £1 a time. But the costs are negligible and the risks are negligible, so just wash your hands.

Kintsugi16 · 06/02/2021 07:43

Daytime yes
Nighttime, not always as I use toilet roll to wipe and not my hands

Always wash hands after going out to wheelie bin though

Ding123 · 06/02/2021 07:43

Absolutely minging not to wash hands after a trip to the bathroom. Even during pregnancy when I practically lived on the toilet I always washed my hands.

Really surprised so many regular hand washers don't bother after a wee in the middle of the night. Can you say with certainty you won't touch your face or mouth in your sleep? And the not flushing in the night, does your bathroom not stink of piss by morning? Occasionally DS forgets to flush (but will ALWAYS wash his hands), and I go in afterwards I can tell straight away he hasn't flushed. People must be nose blind!

aramox · 06/02/2021 07:44

We don't flush every time, just put the lid down. Unless there are guests! Weren't we being urged not to, to save water? And is urine really the main way covid is spread?

Skittles98 · 06/02/2021 07:45

Urine is sterile. In your own home only you and close family use the loo.

What do people who wash after every single wee think will happen if you don't? 😂 You probably have healthier hand skin than they do.

notanothertakeaway · 06/02/2021 07:45

Ew, gross

StanfordPines · 06/02/2021 07:46

I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t. It only takes a minute and bugger all effort. I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t do it. Why go through all the effort of thinking of bullshit reasons not to, like ‘well I didn’t get wee on my hands’ or ‘urine is sterile I read once on the internet’, rather than just washing your hands. It’s less effort.

It’s like indicating when driving. Learners are taught these days to only indicate if there is another road user there to see it. Why waste time looking around for others. Just indicate, it’s less effort.

StanfordPines · 06/02/2021 07:47

And the ‘not at night time’ people, do you think germs only work in daylight?

Why do you think urine is sterile?
oatmilk4breakfast · 06/02/2021 07:51

I do. Don’t you touch the loo? Or yourself to wipe?

mrsfindlay · 06/02/2021 07:52

Im so shocked about this. This is must be the reason why my daughter tells me that no one at school washes their hands after using the toilet!

Those who dont wash because you claim you dont get wee on their hands when your wipe... Do you really think your kids can be trusted not to get wee on their hands either?

AnyOldPrion · 06/02/2021 07:53

Why do you think urine is sterile?

It’s an old myth. Even if it’s bacteria free in your bladder, by the time it’s exited through the urethra, it isn’t.

And it’s not just the urine. It’s the touching the flush, taps, handles that have been touched by others who have just had a poo.
Blerg · 06/02/2021 07:56

Can’t believe you wouldn’t wash your hands.

The idea of using other people’s toilets (or eating their food) is grim!

I was handswhen I one in the house, after doing bins and after every wee - of course!

Roselilly36 · 06/02/2021 07:57

I wash my hands every time, I thought everyone did? Quite enlightened. I won’t be changing, hand wash every single time for me.

CakeRequired · 06/02/2021 07:59

And this is how a virus has spread so quickly. Because people are disgusting.

Your bathroom isn't immaculate no matter what you like to think. Germs travel in the air in bathrooms, for those who don't close the lid of a toilet before flushing it. They live on every surface. You might have got a tiny amount of wee on your hands after wiping. Which if you don't wash your hands, you then spread onto every surface around your house that you touch after that.

So yep you are disgusting for doing that.

PoppyFleur · 06/02/2021 07:59

Isn't washing your hands are using the loo an inbuilt habit?

It's a second nature thing to do. It would actually take me more effort to not wash my hands because it would be changing the habit of a lifetime.

LetMeStraightenMyCrownFirst · 06/02/2021 07:59

OP so why do you wash after a poo? Surely you also use loo paper for that. So what's the difference?

ElizaLaLa · 06/02/2021 08:00

what's actually disgusting though?

Does it really need spelling out?

Your hands have been near wee and your minge. They've touched the loo handle that has been touched be people that have poo'd.

Jesus christ. What a minger 🤮. I hope you don't send homemade shit in to bake sales etc op.

There's no coronorvirus in wee 🤣
heatedroller · 06/02/2021 08:01

@BohemianDream

Well I suppose none of you give blowjobs either unless the penis beaker is within close reach.
I was thinking this!

PotholeParadies · 06/02/2021 08:02
  1. Urine is not sterile.

  2. Even if it were, why do you think urine residue on your hands would stay sterile? It's not bleach, it's a bodily fluid.

Urine is actually a perfectly adequate medium for bacteria, and they will feed and grow on it, so the same applies to residue on your hands. It's like leaving an open bottle of milk out on the worktop and expecting it not to go sour.

heatedroller · 06/02/2021 08:02

@SimonJT

No wonder germs spread like wildfire in primary schools if so many children have dirty parents who don’t teach them basic hygiene 🤢
Since when do colds and flu come from urine?
OP posts:
Templetree · 06/02/2021 08:03

OP os totally missing the point.
Its not urine you need to worry about getting on your hands, its the e coli and other nasty bugs lurking in your bathroom, which are then transferred onto your hands and then you deposit all over the house .
Grim 😷
