To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

Yes, jenasaurus! I wouldnt go to sleep with stinky fingers !

Poppins2016 · 06/02/2021 02:45

@WaxOnFeckOff

Isn't it just automatic? My brain wouldn't allow me not to wash my hands and I'm by no means a germaphobe. Always after the toilet - even just a wee. After handling the dirty laundry, doing pet things and before, during and after preparing food or loading the dishwasher, after cleaning.

Sounds like a lot but just basic hygiene, obvs in current times maybe a couple extra i.e. after shopping.

Maybe I do have an issue - i feel weird in the shower if I haven't brushed my teeth - part of the routine I guess, wee, wash hands, brush teeth, shower.

If you have an issue, then so do I! Grin

I also wash my hands after every nappy change! I'm shocked at the fact people think a baby wipe is a good substitute for hand washing... Shock

Poppins2016 · 06/02/2021 02:53

Food for thought, for those who don't wash hands after a wee:

When using the loo for a poo, you wipe and flush (so there's cross contamination on the loo handle and the seat assuming you put it down)...

When going for a wee you perform the same actions and get all the cross contamination from previous loo trips (not just yours, but the rest of the household). If you don't wash your hands, you then spread those germs everywhere!

PurpleOnion · 06/02/2021 02:59

I wash my hands like crazy so yes, I wash after every wee. I wash my hands thoroughly every time I use the loo, before brushing my teeth or touching my face, before and after eating. (Even before covid I was very careful about face touching because I had bad acne as a teen.) I work in a hospital so I guess the hand washing is just habit. I'm rarely sick I think the obsessive washing helps.

safariboot · 06/02/2021 03:01

Half-arsing it with just water is pretty common, I was very guilty of that pre-Covid, but not washing at all is manky.

echt · 06/02/2021 03:10

Yes same, I wash my hands all the bloody time. But religiously after using my immaculate loo, no way!

Contradiction much, OP? Always, but not always. Hmm

Your loo may be immaculate but your hands aren't. Nor is the handle to your bathroom now you've had your minging hands on it.

Wash your bloody hands.

Justdontdoit · 06/02/2021 03:22

I can’t believe that this is even questionable. I mean to not wash your hands after going to the toilet is nastiness. Why wouldn’t you? Confused

goldfishblub · 06/02/2021 03:34

It's 3:30am and I just got up for a wee and washed my hands thoroughly. Night night zzzzzzzzzz

eaglejulesk · 06/02/2021 03:34

I live alone, I'm rarely ever ill and if I am I'm not usually out and about - what is anyone else going to catch off me?? As usual, there are some very ott people on MN. Incidentally I imagine in my country there are also lots who don't wash their hands after a wee, and yet covid didn't spread like wildfire here. It's not like I have a wee and then don't wash my hands for the rest of the day, but who am I going to infect in my own home?

PhilCornwall1 · 06/02/2021 03:34

😮😮😮

You should also be having a shower after curling one out too!!

CtrlU · 06/02/2021 03:38

Nah

BigMomma164 · 06/02/2021 03:44

Every. Single. Time. NO EXCEPTION. Learning that so many people don't is making me feel sick. Everytime the loo flushes, germs are propelled upto 2 metres, so all over you, the loo seat, flush etc. If you don't wash your hands then essentially you are eating poo/wee germs gag
You filthy unwashed are revoltingly dirty people
WASH YOIR HANDS

BigMomma164 · 06/02/2021 03:44

lovelemoncurd · 06/02/2021 03:51

I wash my hands ( mostly) but urine is sterile. It's not urine that's the problem but the bacteria around where you wipe I guess.

It's a slippery slope comparing this because you're always going to have the OCD, the slovenly, the too embarrassed to admit, the show offs.

StarlightLady · 06/02/2021 03:55

Always!

Weirdfan · 06/02/2021 04:02

Always, even bleary eyed at 4am (thank you middle aged bladder), would feel very wrong not to.

Mothership4two · 06/02/2021 04:18

Every single time

Becstar90 · 06/02/2021 04:27

And this is why I don't like shaking people hands....

mammmamia · 06/02/2021 04:37

I really hope that after COVID we just abandon the practice of shaking people’s hands altogether. Makes my skin crawl reading this thread. Hate shaking random people’s hands at work etc.

WanderingMilly · 06/02/2021 04:46

How disgusting, it's basic hygiene to wash hands after every time going to the toilet, even if only for a wee. And I say that even though I live alone and my bathroom is spotless.

Germs - bacteria - are everywhere, we live with them. They are more likely to multiply in places such as the toilet and however clean it is, unless you completely sterilise it daily you are likely to be transferring bateria when you wipe or touch the flush handle or whatever. If you don't wash your hands you'll be taking them to wherever you touch next, such as the kitchen or other parts of the house.

Thank God I shan't ever have a cup of tea in your house.....

mrbensbaker · 06/02/2021 04:54

That's gross if they don't, you'll be spreading germs in your kitchen when you in to make coffee etc unless you wash your hands before doing that. I wash hands during/after anything in the bathroom , before anything in the kitchen.

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2021 04:58

So it turns out that after 422 replies @heatedroller is very unreasonable to think that not everyone washes their hands after every single wee in their own home. Grin

PotholeParadies · 06/02/2021 04:58

Yes, of course I wash my hands after every wee. Hmm

BritWifeinUSA · 06/02/2021 05:07

I thought I’d seen the most disgusting thing with the loo brushes in the dishwasher thread but just when you think you’ve seen it all...along comes another AIBU thread.

I can’t believe people don’t wash their hands after using and touching the toilet. It’s so automatic to me I do it on autopilot.

leafygarden42 · 06/02/2021 05:11

In support of @heatedroller

Of course it's bloody overkill. I'm also a dirty, disgusting minger, and basically an all round terrible person, as I don't wash my hands every time after doing a wee in my own house. Although would do if I was then going to prepare food.

To add to my frankly horrific behaviour, quite often every night I will not flush the toilet after a wee in the middle of the night, so that I don't wake up other household members.

You lot might as well start the flogging now
