To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

Being a nurse, and therefore a bit of a germ nazi, I do wash my hands every time I use the lav for anything. If it’s just a wee, it probably doesn’t make a lot of sense unless you have an infection or something. I just don’t feel right until I do.

sharonJJ55 · 06/02/2021 00:07

Urine IS NOT sterile!! Seriously, not only do we have a load of dirty unhygienic fools on here but also uneducated. If you use paper to wipe after a wee you can't guarantee not getting any wee on your hands. And name ONE person that wants your wee on their hands after you've touch door handles, towels, cups etc. Disgusting!

Feelingconfused2020 · 06/02/2021 00:07

Absolutely and so does my DH and so.do the kids. I'm really surprised at the number who don't.

Cissyandflora · 06/02/2021 00:08

And yes always lid down before flushing. In fact in parts of Asia it’s required as part of the fight against the pandemic. There are signs up in public loos saying the lids must be down before flushing. They don’t have to have signs saying wash your hands though because that’s just basic hygiene. I mean who would need to be told to wash their hands after the loo?
And yes I’ve noticed plenty of kids in school come out of the loos and need to be told to wash hands. These are the children who are missing this lesson at home. It’s disgusting.

Maybe we should piss on our hands and then shake the “urine is sterile” folks hands and see how they react.

Ew. Never in my life did I not wash hands after every single wee. Why wouldn't you??? That's just gross. You are touching your underwear which has you skin cell bacteria, ew, it's very possible during wiping, the tissue could get soaked enough to transfer on to your hands. Your also touching the toilet seat, flush, which would harbour bacteria, no matter how clean you think you keeping it.
This is precisely why I have issue eating anything in someone else's home.

I've seen my mil come out of their downstairs loo, the sink is outside the toilet, and not wash her hands! And she has then gone to touch food. I've never been so disgusted in my life! I now never eat food from her, she has a habit of touching every item of food, and handing it over to you with her bare hands, instead of offering the plate for one to help themselves. I just don't eat anything from there.

IdblowJonSnow · 06/02/2021 00:09

Not every time after a wee but only because I can go up to 3 times in an hour and my hands are already so sore and dry. But mostly I do.

Iusedtobecarmen · 06/02/2021 00:09

Yes to whoever said 'fingertips wash'.
But yeah a wash :)

diamondsr4u · 06/02/2021 00:10

@JengaJanga 😂😂😂

strudsespark · 06/02/2021 00:10

MiaMc Fuck me it’s like talking to the parish council

😂😂 so true

81Byerley · 06/02/2021 00:11

I always do. Toilet paper doesn't protect you completely.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 06/02/2021 00:12

Anyone not washing their hands after going for a wee/poo is a total skank.
Your anus isn't that far from your uretha. E. coli bacteria don't just stay around the anus, they move, get spread with tissue or other bodily fluids.
And people wonder why D&V is so prevalent!

diamondsr4u · 06/02/2021 00:12

Op stop being so defensive. You asked the question so you will receive the answers, stop getting worked up over it. Your responses are so cringe to read

Some rather entertaining notes on urine.
Takeaway message is that it really isn't a particularly dangerous or worrying substance in trace amounts, unlike faeces.

Squarepigeon · 06/02/2021 00:13

To the manky ones who don’t wash their hands after a wee, do you flush the toilet after a wee? Touching the same handle or button that you’ve touched after a poo? Then the door handle, the light switch ...You’re spreading faecal bacteria all over your house.

Shodan · 06/02/2021 00:14

Question (and I apologise if anyone has asked this already and I missed it)- all those people who think that everyone gets wee on their hands while wiping:- how much loo roll are you using to wipe with?

Are you only using a couple of sheets or something? And are you not waiting until you've actually finished before wiping?

Not wanting to get to tmi here, but when I'm done, there's really not much left to mop up, as it were. And what there is, doesn't penetrate through the multiple layers of loo roll.

I admit, I use quite a lot of loo roll, kind of scrunched, and it covers the whole of my hand, so I'm curious as to how some people are getting wee all over their hands?

ItsNotAlrightButItsOkay · 06/02/2021 00:14

That is just bad hygiene practice.
You can't just relax when you're at home using your "immaculately clean toilet"
This makes me wonder what else you don't do.

TheNestedIf · 06/02/2021 00:14

I cannot think how we've ended up with a pandemic. Hmm

Iusedtobecarmen · 06/02/2021 00:14

I defo do lid down though
And toothbrushes out the way

PattyPan · 06/02/2021 00:14

My hands are sore and dry too. The answer is hand cream, not germs!
Moneyfornothingkerbsforfree · 06/02/2021 00:15

Not only do I not wash my hands after going for a wee I can’t summons much disgust over eating food from other people who don’t. If I over thought it about someone I considered dirty I might mind for all of about 5 seconds but if it was a friend / family or someone I liked I would still eat the food of a non hand washer.

TableFlowerss · 06/02/2021 00:15

I’m far more concerned with the people that walk out of a public lavatory and don’t bother washing their hands.......

I just stand aghast in horror. Absolutely filthy!! 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

NotFabulousDarling · 06/02/2021 00:16

Yuck! Of course you should wash your hands! How is the toilet any cleaner than when you poo? It's the same toilet! Would you like if someone else had their wee on their hands and gave you a hug? Or a cuppa? Or picked up your child's dummy and gave it back to them? I can't believe how many people on here don't wash their hands. I think we've found how Covid spread so quickly. I am horrified. None of you disgusting people who don't wash your hands are ever coming inside my house.

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/02/2021 00:17

I always do but my DH doesn’t which annoys me!

Aiaiaicorona · 06/02/2021 00:17

Yes I do because I don’t use enough toilet paper trying to be eco friendly and some it soaks through to my fingers. I don’t flush after a wee though unless we’re having visitors (not during lockdowns Covid police).
