Just wondered what people's thoughts were following the allegations.
I do think it's awful he's effectively been sacked from all employment before having been found guilty of any allegations.

I was a big fan of MM back in the early 00's. I'm not surprised one bit. Like PP said his autobiography laid out his abuse bare.
When I was younger I thought he was really cool and edgy and putting on a show. Now I'm older it's quite easy to see that he's really quite an unpleasant person.

@user1471565182

I dont think its ok to say 'its obvious just by looking at him hes vile'. Look at the way Slipknot dress, but Corey Taylor in particula strikes me as a very decent person.
Corey Taylor is a bit of an arse (or at least he was, pre getting sober and clean), but was always a family man and, I doubt, a predator. With the wrong person, though, he's always had the ability to be quite poisonous.

I was always very humbled in the presence of Shawn Crahan, though. He was one member of Slipknot who did a remarkable job of separating the onstage persona with the real life guy.

Exactly, @Daisychainsandglitter. He literally describes sexually assaulting women in his own autobiography.

@ringydinghy, so do you 'take [his own] claims with trust'?

Chailatteplease · 04/02/2021 18:45

I can’t believe anyone believes Depp was an abuser rather than a victim. Did any of you a thread the court transcripts/evidence? Or just believe the headlines that were obviously going to report on Ambers side to avoid being sued 🤔
Know how he lost his finger? Her history of abusing her ex? No?
Gullible 🙄

Cadent · 04/02/2021 18:48

@Chailatteplease why don'y you post the relevant parts from the court transcripts?

It's worse to lie than be gullible.

TastyTicklemore · 04/02/2021 18:48

It is sad nowadays how easily some women can ruin mens careers; if they ever dislike a man or get jealous its so easy to make up a false story for money and have their name blackened forevermore. It happened with Craig Charles. Cliff Richard. Johnny Depp.

Craig Charles: acquitted in 1995 = career not ruined

Cliff Richard: accusation was a 15 year old boy = not a woman

Johnny Depp: High Court ruling said the News group was substantially truthful in calling him a wife beater = not lies

None of them seem to fit the narrative of career ruined by lying women.

Not that it should matter but there are now 2 men also backing up MM's accusers, saying they personally witnessed behaviour similar to that described.

BitOfFun · 04/02/2021 18:53

It was all going on in plain sight, like with Jimmy Savile. Perhaps we will be allowed to call out obvious creeps now.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 04/02/2021 18:59

Not automatically defending Marilyn Manson of course but I take his accusers' claims with no trust whatsoever.

Not that it should take it to believe a group of victims, but haven't you noticed that the men are coming forward now?

If you don't believe the women, surely a few penis owners saying 'no, he's abusive and now I don't need the job and won't be blacklisted for the rest of my career for saying so I'm prepared to stand up and say it' might convince you that they aren't jealous women who want money or just for shits and giggles.

WhereDoMyBluebirdsFly · 04/02/2021 19:05

Regarding both DVT and Rose McGowan saying MM didn't abuse them; they dated him years ago and were similar in age, so maybe he has become more warped as time went on? In Jenna Jameson's autobiography she said she had a brief fling with him (must have been in the mid 90s). She said he was a really nice guy, but he took a LOT of drugs. She described him pouring a load of mixed tablets into his hand and throwing them back like Skittles. She was heavily into drugs herself at the time but this even shocked her.

DVT looked very uncomfortable and submissive in that Tom Green interview. I think she is a very private person and doesn't want to detail everything that happened with MM, which is her right. But he certainly didn't treat her well.

This whole situation is upsetting. That so many women have been abused by him and were too afraid to come forward for years. From ERW's statement it looks like she had maybe been threatened with being sued for slander if she named him?

TheMoth · 04/02/2021 19:06

Besides, how well does it go for women who accuse men? Especially famous ones like Johnny Depp. Yes, we fancied him when we were young. Yes, he was all sensitive and that in Benny and Joon and scissorhands, but now he's just that sad old drunk in your local, who gets into drunken kick offs with his current lady friend.

tofuschnitzel · 04/02/2021 19:15

@NotFabulousDarling

I feel like this thread perfectly sums up why so many of these bastards get away with it for so long. People on here not even checking what's been said/done before piling on to say the women somehow should have known he was going to abuse them or that they've made it up. I bet the people victim blaming or accusing them of lying are the same people who tell women on the relationships boards to "get marital counselling" or "try harder to see his point of view" when they're asking for advice on leaving abusers. He even admitted to some of it and people still are defending him or pretending that's not what he meant.
OP hadn't read Evan Rachel Wood's testimony to Congress before starting this thread. I'd like to think she has read it now, but OP hasn't said either way.

ERW was treated appallingly by many people during her relationship with Brian/Marilyn. The press was absolutely vile towards her, and she was basically regarded as a whore by members of the public and the press. Many people here aren't responding to her accusations with kindness and respect. It's disgusting to see how vile people can be towards a woman who has been in an abusive relationship.

Idontbelieveit12 · 04/02/2021 19:18

He’s vile Envy

bourbonne · 04/02/2021 19:18

I've never understood the stupid argument (hmm, maybe that is why I've never understood it) that people make false accusations of abuse against celebrities - including dead celebrities - "for money".

What money? Where does it come from? And is it worth the price of having the whole world imagine the degrading events described, and remember that about you forever?

There were people saying that about the men who recently admitted that Michael Jackson abused them. These were men with successful careers of their own. And yet some people were trotting out this lazy slur against them, even then.

Calling someone a liar is also a pretty serious allegation.

tofuschnitzel · 04/02/2021 19:19

@LillyFlower1984

Well just look at him... I know you should never judge a book by it’s cover, but that’s one book that I wouldn’t bother opening!
This is going to blow your mind - different people are attracted to different things. You may not be attracted to someone like Brian/Marilyn, but many people do find him attractive.

I find your comments utterly depressing. As if Evan Rachel Wood should have known he would abuse her because of the way he looks?? What bullshit. Anyone can abuse, it doesn't matter if they are good looking or not. What happened to her is not her fault.

Beebityboo · 04/02/2021 19:20

Anyone who used to read the Perez Hilton gossip site in their teens knows how badly ERW was treated back then. She was absolutely torn to shreds in the press and online and was getting beaten up offline, what a horrendous time it must have been for her. No wonder it took her so bloody long to come to terms with it all!
Manson can have a pity party for himself if he wants, but he was pretty bloody quick to drop Twiggy Ramirez like a hot potato from the band when he got metood not so long ago.

Tinkerbell456 · 04/02/2021 19:27

I’m sure there are a few instances of women lying in these situations, but overwhelmingly not.

GabsAlot · 04/02/2021 19:40

the way he looks has nothing to do with abuse

dont put everyone in the same boat

ZednotZee · 04/02/2021 20:07

I'm glad these abusive men Warner, Depp, Weinstein are being increasingly brought to justice.

I sincerely hope its the paedos' turn next; Charlie Sheen allegedly raped Corey Hair between two trailers on a movie set, yet nobody talks about it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I hope misogynists being denigrated are a prelude to paedowood being brought to justice, rather than a diversionary tactic to obfuscate the facts.

And whilst I may be cynical in the extreme this does not detract from my abhorrence of any sexual abuse irrespective of the victim's age.

ZednotZee · 04/02/2021 20:08

Corey Haim

Autocorrect fail

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/02/2021 20:16

Haven't RTFT.

I've met him. He's a complete and utter arsehole and the way he spoke to a male record company person in front of me would have got him sacked in any other role.

And you can't judge a book by it's cover. He's a scumbag but Keith Flint from the Prodigy similarly looked a right state but everyone I've ever spoken to who met him (and me) thought he was a proper gent and generally a nice chap.

As for women 'ruining' men's lives, tell that to Tyson, Polanski or all the actual bang-to-rights rapists who go on to make millions.

PlinkPlink · 04/02/2021 20:22

I would like to thank @OutComeTheWolves and @Brefugee

Thank you 👏
For calling out people with their bullshit viewpoints. Viewpoints that continue to damage people's willingness to come forward.

A big FUCK YOU if you think that these women deserved it because:

"they should have seen what he looked like and realised he was going to be into some perverse sex"

"They shouldn't have been groupies, because duh! Of course he's going to violently rape them for that"

Stop spouting ridiculous shit!!

THE ONLY REASON RAPISTS DO WHAT THEY DO, IS BECAUSE THEY ARE RAPISTS!

STOP VICTIM BLAMING FFS!! You should be utterly ashamed of yourself if you EVER think like that.

colouringindoors · 04/02/2021 20:27

Hear hear!

Tinkerbell456 · 04/02/2021 20:51

Being a groupie means you’re asking to be raped? Who knew?

YrHenWrach · 04/02/2021 21:06

I'm not at all surprised. When I was 15/16 a girl in the year below used to hang out with us occasionally. She went to see Manson in the nearest city and ended up going back stage. She claimed that she'd lost her virginity to him and he'd been rough. I have no proof that it was him of course, but she did show us her breasts, which were black and blue and covered in scratches.
Obviously, this was rape, which I don't think she realised.

colouringindoors · 04/02/2021 21:18

So, so many stories. I believe them.
