I like Only Connect, but my word, Victoria Coren Mitchell is, as my teenage DD would say, totally cringe.

She’s brilliant and Only Connect is half an hour of joy.

I don't know - the company would be great, but I heard her on the Off Menu podcast and her approach to food is... surprising...!

We're big VCM and OC fans in our house, OC and UC are the light at the end of a Monday tunnel. I think Victoria is smart, funny and intelligent and I too would love to go for a drink with her.

When VCM was a guest on that slightly odd dinner-party/game-show mash-up I'll Get This a couple of years ago, and the contestants had to throw their credit cards into a bowl at the start, she produced a giant wad of cash (£1000 iirc) and airily explained that she didn't trust credit cards and never carried them.

DH was enamoured on the spot.

I saw that. She took Poker Player Vicky with her that night!

I quite like the way she compartmentalises her peronal and work life like that, and accepts that they are all quite like her, but not really...

Poker Vicky is a little bit different from OC Vicky and, if what was said upthread is true, Eating Vicky is different again!

There was an anecdote on Twitter recently about Harry Enfield advising David Mitchell at a party to get a pre nup. Victoria Coren replied that she wasn’t worried about him getting his hands on her poker millions.

How can you not like that?

I really don't think she is. She's bright and well educated and her knowledge is well-rounded. She can't help that, and she rightly doesn't feel it's something she has to hide.

Absolutely! It's so sad to see women being criticised for their intelligence

me too! I got four of the 8 categories on the wall(s) last night.

DH and I have watched this religiously since it began on BBC4. Only 'live' TV I bother with.
I too love Victoria. And I thought the closing gag about quizzing David Mitchell was actually genuinely funny for once!
And the excitement when one of us actually gets an answer right!

Someone on here ages ago said they were crying in a cafe when a stranger gave her a sympathetic smile and a slice of cake. It was VCM.
