AIBU to think that Innocent are guilty of online bullying?

Over on Twitter, an anonymous troll with 10 followers told Innocent to stop following a woman because they consider that woman to be a transphobe. Innocent agree to do so and also copy the poor woman into their reply so that their 297k followers can have a go at her too. Of course they haven't bothered to reply to all the people telling them that this is shameful behaviour, they're just dull boring women after all.
YANBU - Innocent fucked this one up & should apologize
YABU - public shaming of non-compliant women by Innocent is a good thing

I’m amazed they don’t really think that hard about their demographic!

Hoppinggreen · 29/01/2021 14:45

More like blatant stupidity

suspiria777 · 29/01/2021 14:46

YABU to phrase it like "online bullying" is a crime for which Innocent are guilty.
Just report to Twitter...

giletrouge · 29/01/2021 14:46

Thanks OP - I've put my protest in witing over on Twitter. Sigh.

giletrouge · 29/01/2021 14:46

WRITING! Not witing.

DickKerrLadies · 29/01/2021 14:47

It ever fail to surprise me these companies, with all that money they spend on marketing, forget which group of people tend to do the household food shopping.

ConspiracyOfOne · 29/01/2021 14:48

Another reason not to bother with Innocent, particularly after the disgusting smoothie I had from them last week (all their drinks are absolutely packed with sugar btw).

Fuckwits.

DrudgeJedd · 29/01/2021 14:48

Sigh yourself suspira

OP posts:
Marinaloves · 29/01/2021 14:50

Do they not realise that 90% of the female population probably do the weekly shop!!!

NotFabulousDarling · 29/01/2021 14:51

Wait... Innocent like the smoothie company? When I first read this I thought you meant some YouTube personality or something.
Innocent smoothies have attacked someone for being transphobic?
WTAF?
What on Earth does a smoothie company have to do with transgender things?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 29/01/2021 14:52

She has retweeted posts and defended her position as well, so she is putting her own name out there.

She realises her views could be deemed by some as transphobic, and companies are more than entitled to unfollow if they disagree with her stance.

Although I don't agree with any online bullying she is tagging innocent and the person who originally tweeted, so they are all at fault if they don't want attention brought to the subject.

Ultimately the customers will decide which side they are on by buying/not buying their products 🤷‍♀️

DrudgeJedd · 29/01/2021 14:58

Your right of course Difficult, I just think that adding a bit of scolding into their drippy saccharin Twitter feed was stupid.

Biscoffaddict · 29/01/2021 15:03

Innocent smoothies are shit anyway. Full of sugar, just make your own. Cheaper and better for you.

NotFabulousDarling · 29/01/2021 15:16

I've just been over there to read the whole lot. Bloody hell.
Where do companies get off thinking they should do this?
Does anyone know if Innocent also make the supermarket own brand smoothies for supermarkets (e.g. as a subcontractor/private label manufacturer)?

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 29/01/2021 15:29

DifficultPifcult

That troll account tagged that woman in, Innocent responded to the trolls tweet.

DrudgeJedd · 29/01/2021 15:37

I can't believe that 10% of you think that "public shaming of non-compliant women" is ok. You're just doing it to fuck with me aren't you? Grin

Why do companies fall for this Twitter bullying without checking out their facts?

No more innocent for me.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 29/01/2021 15:44

Vtech

She has retweeted someone using the abhorrent ableist slur ‘window-licker’

That person she retweeted, was tweeting about a woman who is blaming wildfires on Jewish people.

LuaDipa · 29/01/2021 15:45

I’ve just had a quick peek and the woman they have unfollowed is far more interesting and eloquent than the anonymous troll who reported her. Trans issues aside, anyone in their right mind could see that this is a petty little man who can’t handle a grown-up discussion with others of a different view. I can’t believe they just did what he asked without the slightest bit of research or consideration.

I believe in freedom of speech. As much as he is a nasty little man, he has every right to express his views. But so does the woman in this situation. It doesn’t mean that businesses should start following/unfollowing on the whim of either party.

Innocent are usually pretty intuitive and their social media effort is generally faultless, but I think they have made a bit of a misstep here.

Vtech · 29/01/2021 15:48

That person she retweeted, was tweeting about a woman who is blaming wildfires on Jewish people.

And that makes it ok to use slurs which dehumanise people with intellectual disabilities...?

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 29/01/2021 15:56

You are using slurs Vtech Terf is a slur.
I doubt they were using a slur to dehumanise people with intellectual disabilities.
You are looking for any excuse to blame that woman.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 29/01/2021 16:04

You are looking for any excuse to blame that woman.

I can't believe anyone would defend someone using that term, for any reason, regardless of who they are. You may agree with her on trans issues, but that doesn't mean she can say what she likes.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 29/01/2021 16:14

She didn't say it difficultPifcult, it was someone else's tweet about a woman blaming wildfires on Jewish people.

Vtech · 29/01/2021 16:18

You are looking for any excuse to blame that woman.

I didn’t have to look hard, did I? An abhorrent slur which can’t be justified (though I see you trying), right there at the top of her timeline.

As I clearly said, I don’t agree with what Innocent did. But I also don’t feel warmth or sympathy towards people who use such vile terms.
