AIBU to think that Innocent are guilty of online bullying?

Over on Twitter, an anonymous troll with 10 followers told Innocent to stop following a woman because they consider that woman to be a transphobe. Innocent agree to do so and also copy the poor woman into their reply so that their 297k followers can have a go at her too. Of course they haven't bothered to reply to all the people telling them that this is shameful behaviour, they're just dull boring women after all.
YANBU - Innocent fucked this one up & should apologize
YABU - public shaming of non-compliant women by Innocent is a good thing

Felicity you may think it should be illegal, but do you believe that is is?
Did you misread my question or just choose to answer a different one?

prisencolinensinainciusol2 · 03/02/2021 19:03

I love it when a thread becomes all about one poster.

(No I don't - it's shite.)

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 03/02/2021 19:04

By the way, Felicity, gender reassignment is one of the protected characteristics in the EA, so it’s already on a par in law with disability, race, sex etc.

We haven’t quite progressed to imprisoning people for thoughtcrime yet though, and an English judge recently was horrified at the idea that we ever would.

Perhaps you’d be more at home in a society like North Korea?

I’m fine where I am thanks. Not England though.
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 03/02/2021 19:07

Jesus Christ.

A woman says TW are not women = hate speech which deserves a knock on door from police

How many of you who believe this are on SM condemning individuals how post rape and death threats to GC women?

RubyGoat · 03/02/2021 19:08
Quaagars · 03/02/2021 19:09

So maybe for the sake of argument and clarity you could confirm for us what transphobic opinions you have seen from Maggie or on mumsnet please?

See hashtags in my comment as to why not
as in

#theyneveranswer

#yestheydo

#butyousoonlearnitsneveragenuinequestion
#soyouthinkmeh
#sodont

As we have pointed out many many times there are very strict rules on this
Yes, and then when they get deleted it goes all "being silenced!" "they're (who?) are out to get us" etc etc
So it's "there's no transphobia here. Report it if you see any."
Then it goes and it's all a big conspiracy or something Confused

radicalnotion · 03/02/2021 19:09

Still waiting Felicity - or can't you answer me?

Quaagars · 03/02/2021 19:13

We haven’t quite progressed to imprisoning people for thoughtcrime yet though,

You can think what you like.
People are allowed to think and have opinions, we're all entiteld to them.
When you're publishing online opinions though, where does it cross the line from being merely an opinion to hate speech or incitement?
(Not saying this is by the way, just saying hate speech in general, those doing it will say "it's only thoughts!")

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 03/02/2021 19:13

Felicity, how would you feel if you had a daughter who excelled at a sport. Loved it and spent every moment she could getting better. Her skills mean she has shot at doing it pro.

A biological male who isn't particularly good at same sport as boys his own age decides actually, he's born in the wrong body and will now be a girl and play as a girl.

He joins your daughters team. Undeniable and real biological advantages gained by being a male mean he wipe floor compared to every girl there. I think we can all guess which team member will catch the eye of a scout.

How the fuck is this fair? And this isn't taking into account the risk of injury to girls.

radicalnotion · 03/02/2021 19:16

Presumably Felicity will say that this IS fair because this boy is actually a girl. A bit like the poor female teen athletes are having to say when they get pasted in the 100m by a transgirl.

AStudyinPink · 03/02/2021 19:31

Yes, I consider men who are trans to be women.

The unfathomable arrogance of deciding that, because you consider X to be Y, the rest of us have to say it’s so! 😂

I don’t care if you think an arm is a leg, Felicity. That’s not a case.

Quaagars · 03/02/2021 19:36

Quaagars, no offence but I've had to explain several times my meaning to you. You didn't understand why using 'men' meaning 'cis men' didn't include 'trans men'

Yes I did.
I understood perfectly well.
I was merely pointing out that it was blatantly obvious what the post was trying to do, seeing as on here people saying trans women are men do so all the time and people are fine with that.
Someone "non GC" (for want of a better phrase) uses own terminology and some kind of weird gotcha went on.

Hotzenplotz · 03/02/2021 19:55

I identify as a cat, doesn't mean I am in fact a biological feline.

HettieMillia · 03/02/2021 20:01

I’m fine where I am thanks.
Not England though

Are you in the UK?

HettieMillia · 03/02/2021 20:02

I don’t care if you think an arm is a leg, Felicity. That’s not a case.

🤣

Abhannmor · 03/02/2021 21:23

@Lockheart

This is not online bullying. Not following someone on twitter is not bullying.

I might not agree with their decision but they can follow (or not follow) whoever they please.

They as good as invited 300k ppl to attack that woman on the say so of a random nutbag. All to look as if they care about transgender people. Nauseating hypocrisy.
strawberriesontheNeva · 03/02/2021 22:21

Their smoothies are awful suggary syrups . Owned by the Coca Cola company. 🤮

TGIB · 03/02/2021 22:23

Innocent is now owned by Coca Cola.

TGIB · 03/02/2021 22:23

Ooops! Beat me to it.

You've misunderstood again - I was referring to the post in another thread, the one where you didn't understand why using 'men' to mean 'cis men', didn't include trans men, and you asked me twice to explain how I could conclude that from the language used. Again - do you not remember what you say from one day to the next?

If you understood perfectly well then you were intentionally derailing that other thread by asking me to repeatedly explain.

If you think it's 'blatantly obvious' that 'men who are trans' means trans women, as opposed to trans men, then you clearly don't think of trans women as women.

If you think it's OK to misgender and refer to it as 'using own terminology' then perhaps you should take it up with the people threatening actual violence, rape, loss of employment for doing so.

Do you think trans women actually are women, Quaagars?

DeaconBoo · 03/02/2021 22:51

I'm leaving this thread now as I've got too many on the go and I fancy 4 or 5 healthy doughnuts, so I'm not ignoring you if you reply Smile

Quaagars · 03/02/2021 23:06

You've misunderstood again - I was referring to the post in another thread, the one where you didn't understand why using 'men' to mean 'cis men', didn't include trans men

No I haven't, I just do not agree with you.

Quaagars · 04/02/2021 00:20

Just seen that Lawrence Fox has waded in with a tweet along the lines of "well, that's a shame, my kids liked your overly expensive smoothies."
Seeing as he also kicked off when Sainsbury's said they will not tolerate racism and anyone who doesn't want to shop with an inclusive retailer can shop elsewhere."
says it all and doesn't surprise me in the slightest lol

radicalnotion · 04/02/2021 00:21

And your point is...?
