Over on Twitter, an anonymous troll with 10 followers told Innocent to stop following a woman because they consider that woman to be a transphobe. Innocent agree to do so and also copy the poor woman into their reply so that their 297k followers can have a go at her too. Of course they haven't bothered to reply to all the people telling them that this is shameful behaviour, they're just dull boring women after all.
YANBU - Innocent fucked this one up & should apologize
YABU - public shaming of non-compliant women by Innocent is a good thing

Margaret is a lovely woman and it's shameful she's being targeted in this way.

Winterpaw · 02/02/2021 11:56

@Vtech

Why do you think retweeting it is ok? She is clearly endorsing the view. It’s not really relevant whether she said it or simply retweeted it in agreement.
RTs do not necessarily equal endorsements.
Winterpaw · 02/02/2021 12:04

@Lockheart

This is not online bullying. Not following someone on twitter is not bullying.

I might not agree with their decision but they can follow (or not follow) whoever they please.

It's not the fact that they didn't follow her that could be construed as online bullying. It was the knee-jerk response and replying to all (enabljng their followers to have a pile on if they wished). They could and should have taken it offline.

It's the same type of twat thing to do which I suppose is appropriate for Twatter where people do not look beyond a tweet for facts.

Oh well I never knew they were owned by Coca Cola and supposedly contain more sugar than coke in their sickly over priced gloopy "healthy" smoothies...

Al77 · 02/02/2021 15:12

On its own, unfollowing someone because some random ejit tells you that person is transphobic/racist/mean is a bad idea but fairly insignificant. However it adds to the perception that anyone who fancies themselves morally superior or an can wield power and force a major brand to denounce someone, just by shouting accusations.
To me THAT is immoral.

DrudgeJedd · 03/02/2021 16:03

It's being reported on BBC website now, bet the divvies at Innocent thought it would blow over after a few days. Good, this online witch hunting needs to stop.

Is it? Wow

DrudgeJedd · 03/02/2021 16:11

Cheers for that Schrodinger, in all the excitement of closing homeschool for the day I forgot to paste in the link.

No problemo😁

Nousernamesleftatall · 03/02/2021 16:14

No more Innocent products in this house so.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 03/02/2021 16:14

I prefer Tropicana orange juice anyway. And there are loads of other smoothie brands around. Any brand but Innocent from now on!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/02/2021 16:15

And they've finally broken cover with a little message reiterating their original message that they were right and all the people who disagree with them are awful transphobes.
It was never going to go any other way I suppose.

Smug, nasty and tone deaf. Do they think woke teenagers are responsible for most grocery shopping?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/02/2021 16:17

That awful message that James Dreyfus screenshot AngryAngry oh yes lads you really are the progressives here and Innocent are truly on the right side of history.

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 16:25

supposedly contain more sugar than coke in their sickly over priced gloopy "healthy" smoothies...

Of course they are full of sugar. They are made entirely from fruit!

HmmSureJan · 03/02/2021 16:28

YANBU.

I hate their smoothies anyway. Whatever the variety they always just taste almost of entirely of over ripe bananas.

purpleboy · 03/02/2021 16:29

@JulesJules

And now, predictably, the woman targeted is being abused on twitter. Innocent can fuck off
How many trans activists have condemned this tweet? Presumably very little. Right side of history my arse!
Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/02/2021 16:32

Homemade smoothies are much nicer.

YouSetTheTone · 03/02/2021 16:44

@gardenbird48 that website information you share here is so depressing. They refuse to list sex as a protected characteristic and you can bet their breezy ‘(or anything else that’s important to someone)’ doesn’t include sex based rights or even good old fashioned respect for women.
Do women who work there have access to single sex bathrooms I wonder?

I will never buy another Innocent smoothie again.

AngeloMysterioso · 03/02/2021 16:44

It’s been picked up by the DM now as well

Indeed - it is so depressing- I’m so glad I work for myself - robust policies of non discrimination against me and plenty of cups of tea.

I fear for my daughters who will have to go into the workplace and find themselves in situations where so many employers have lost sight of the law and fairness and safeguarding in the workplace. :-(

DeaconBoo · 03/02/2021 16:58

Innocent follow 300k ish people. A quick click around shows this includes a man with a link to pornhub in his bio, people slagging off the Prime Minister, yet they have implicitly agreed that they differentiate who they follow based on whether their views are palatable, so presumably they think those are fine? I've not clicked on the other 297,998 accounts they follow and therefore endorse, I wonder what I'd find?

DrudgeJedd · 03/02/2021 17:06

Innocent have won industry awards for their social media strategy. Can't wait to see them pick up the How to Make Your Twitter Account Unusable Award 2021. Mind you it's only February, plenty time for more dick panderers to fall into this particular bear-trap.

ShemShem · 03/02/2021 17:06

They haven't bullied anyone

If you have shameful and outdated opinions prepare to get some heat for them

ShemShem · 03/02/2021 17:07

@Marinaloves

I’m amazed they don’t really think that hard about their demographic!
You think innocents target demographic are transphobes?

The stupidity on this thread

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 03/02/2021 17:18

@InTheDrunkTank

I don't think they should just accept that someone is a transphobe based on one twitter user's say so but of course they are more than entitled to me against transphobia. I know on MN there are a very screachy group of women who loudly claim to speak for all women but people who tend to have more buying power (the educated, higher earning demographic) are in favour of trans rights.

The incredibly women VS trans war the commentors here like to pretend exists just isn't the case. Middle class Tumblr feminists vs trans rights yes fine. That's a small, middle england demographic innocent can afford to lose though. Sorry - you're just not that important.

2/10 and I'm being generous.
