awaits pile on but - the last three threads I’ve looked at have people falling over themselves to be vicious.
Yes MN “tells it like it is” but right now it’s like someone could write something as innocuous as “I’ve burned the toast for dinner” and within a few posts they will be accused of not giving a fuck about the planet, trying to poison their family and probably told that their kids will despise them when they’re grown up.

Is one of those threads about the poster who’s struggling with having had her baby during lockdown and wishing the timing had been different? She got hammered because other people had had miscarriages and so she was sort of told she was not allowed to be struggling and didn’t know how lucky she was. That made me sad.

AIBU is sort of addictive but I have to really limit how much I browse as it really messes with my mood.

Yanbu. There have always been some properly nasty people on this site but they do seem to have multiplied of late.

Totally agree. Some people are just nasty for the sake of being nasty I suppose. No need for some of the comments on here - I've seen some horrible comments thrown around lately. Awful. I'm all for having a laugh and a debate but I can't stand nastiness.

I've noticed a definite increase in unpleasantness the last week, it's very disheartening. Would like to see more threads where we lift each other up.

The 'favourite art' thread is lovely :)

People are very bored and looking for a bit of entertainment.
The responses elicited by helpful non controversial posts arent as exciting as riling people up with 'outrageous' ones.

You find it annoying when you think people are rude, I find it annoying when people post in the wrong topic areas... everyone knows that you'll get a harsher response in AIBU ... that's why most users love actual AIBU threads... it's like a bun fight! If you want a general chat about it post it in the chat section.

Most MN users like it because it's not full of people blowing smoke up each other's arses calling each other hon and sweetie. If that's what you want there are plenty of other forums to use.

This has been going on for months. It’s like every thread is a race to the bottom, or some kind of mental health too trumps. Insane.

People are just so bored. You can tell my the number of posts on some do the most boring topics. They end up massive and a complete bun fight over nothing!

Shes not suggesting threads need policing but that people are being unnecessarily harsh. I mean how hard is it for people to scroll on.... or just not be arseholes?

@mekitgubakuds the point is that people get a harsh response even when they don’t post in AIBU. People even put YABU in their responses!

It seems to be if you are stressed homeschooling & working then you should be grateful you have a job.
If you are unemployed you should be grateful if you have shelter.
If you are homeless then at least you are alive. You can only moan/whinge/complain if you are dead.

Except if you want to moan about your weight or shape of legs, that's fine despite the fact some people can't use their legs. Hard to keep up!
