Butter-what's your favourite and how much is it?

Currently on KerryGold which is £1.90 and rarely on offer. I used to buy Tesco own label but since lockdown I haven't been shopping there. We go through a 250g every couple of days due to my dcs addiction to freshly baked bread toasted and buttered.
What's your favourite?
(I don't want to get into any discussion about butter v spreadable products just want to hear good butter recommendations really).

I don't use butter anymore but Lurpak was amazing but £3+. Or Utterly Butterly for £1.

FolkyFoxFace · 24/01/2021 15:16

I don't really like Kerry Gold or any of the big brand names. I really, really like Aldi's own - I think it's Cornish and it comes in a black packet. Really nice. Sainsbury's own isn't too bad either! The Aldi one reminds me more of local butter from farms, etc. Not sure why, I can't explain it! Better salt crystals maybe? 😂

icelollycraving · 24/01/2021 15:16

Lurpak. My personal favourite is Lidl butter with sea salt. Delicious!

LeSquigh · 24/01/2021 15:18

Lurpak. Every time. I have no idea how much it is though because I don’t really look. I’m not rich, I’m just using my DPs card so it doesn’t matter how much it costs right? 🙂

SarahBellam · 24/01/2021 15:18

Lurpak or Lidl’s Delux butter with the sea salt crystals in it. It’s amazing with one of their fresh baked tiger loaves.

lifeturnsonadime · 24/01/2021 15:19

I like President french butter, it's really creamy and lightly salted. Way better than lurpak. £1.75 Ocado.

purplewolfie · 24/01/2021 15:20

President spreadable :)

moirarosebabay · 24/01/2021 15:20

Yes! Sainsbury's has one with sea salt in also. The culprit of my lockdown weight gain but I could do it without lockdown.
Delatron · 24/01/2021 15:21

Love the President one with salt.

Grand fermage sel de mer - it's a delicious French butter, absolutely gorgeous on fresh bread.

CakeIsMyFavouriteAndBest · 24/01/2021 15:23

We use Aldi Norpak spreadable which is half the price as Lurpak and tastes the same.

MyNameForToday1980 · 24/01/2021 15:24

We use President and usually have both a salted and unsalted in the fridge.

For spreadable we use Lurpak Lighter with Olive Oil, which is perfectly fine.

I bought some fancy Italian 'Burro' in a paper-wrap from M&S the other day, which was really nice.

CakeRequired · 24/01/2021 15:24

Unhelpful, but I buy Tesco own brand. Grin It's like what 80p? I do use quite a lot with sandwiches and baking too. Usually have to buy two packs a week and there's only two of us. Blush

HollowTalk · 24/01/2021 15:25

Asda's Extra Special Somerset Farmhouse Butter with Sea Salt Crystals is really lovely.

This is also really good (and cheaper than the French butter now post-Brexit Sad).

NextWinter · 24/01/2021 15:26

Anchor prefer the block but spreadable will do.

mnahmnah · 24/01/2021 15:31

Country life or Anchor, whichever is on offer or cheapest when I do the shop. I think it’s out £1.70?

Sprig1 · 24/01/2021 15:31

Anchor. Where we are it says the milk comes from a nearby town. I am not sure if that's the case all over the country.

Besiegedbykillersquirrels · 24/01/2021 15:34

Ha ha, the very first comment was about spreadable which the OP specifically said she didn't want!
I'm a complete butter slut and for me it has to be the one with sea salt crystals in it. The cheapest I've found is lidl or aldi at about £1.65. Tesco do one for about £1.85. It's worth it though.

Ariela · 24/01/2021 15:34

Waitrose own brand . About £1.60/pack. £3 large pack.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 24/01/2021 15:35

@CakeRequired a few years ago it was that price but this time last year it was about £1.44.
I like lurpak too but that Norpak stuff from Aldi was horrible when I tried it.
I tried one with salt crystals from Waitrose or M&S but it was too salty for me. I use Waitrose own which is fine too. I have no preference for baking-any unsalted is ok with me although my best apple crumble was made with slightly salted as I'd run out of unsalted.
My kitchen is very cold and my butter is always too hard. I'm thinking if one of those French butter bell things. President spreadable was just as unspreadable as regular butter.

I'm in the minority but Lurpak is awful stuff.
I really like asda or sainsburys own brand salted butter. Sure they're around £1.50 per block.

Purplethrow · 24/01/2021 15:38

Wheelbarrow is my favourite but Aldi don’t sell it so I buy their unsalted butter. I’ve no idea how much it is.

IthinkIm · 24/01/2021 15:39

Aldi own in the black wrapping. It's about £1.60

Ostryga · 24/01/2021 15:41

Shirgar butter is THE BEST. Properly salty and divine. From Ocado.
