Butter-what's your favourite and how much is it?

Currently on KerryGold which is £1.90 and rarely on offer. I used to buy Tesco own label but since lockdown I haven't been shopping there. We go through a 250g every couple of days due to my dcs addiction to freshly baked bread toasted and buttered.
What's your favourite?
(I don't want to get into any discussion about butter v spreadable products just want to hear good butter recommendations really).

@Shortysoso

Morrison’s ‘the best’ range with salt flakes is great and cheap, or Sainsburys own brand for day to day (although I stock up on butter when I go to a Morrison’s)
Yes Morrisons the best with sea salt - it's lovely

I use it for most things - don;t do marg

WorriedMillie · 24/01/2021 17:18

I remember having a butter making demo and tasting at Ludlow Food Festival once. It was the best butter I’ve ever tasted. Slightly salted and soooo creamy. Needless to say, we bought some

Other than that, sea salt butter. Not sure how much it is though. We’re currently using some salted butter from Home Bargains that cost a bargain £1.19

Pangur2 · 24/01/2021 17:21

Nothing beats Kerrygold tbh.

misskatamari · 24/01/2021 17:29

I just get whatever own brand there is in whatever shop I'm in, but now I totally want to buy and devour some fancy butter

itsgettingweird · 24/01/2021 17:50

I use the Aldi West Country salted butter but my favourite is anchor!

Shmithecat2 · 24/01/2021 17:51

Aldi's with the salt crystals in. It's bloody glorious.

CoronaIsShit · 24/01/2021 17:53

Tesco spreadable tub £2.20 for a 500g tub. Better than Ancho IMO.

kitschplease · 24/01/2021 18:00

Aldi west country, Sainsbury's organic or Yeo

BlackDogBlues · 24/01/2021 18:04

I’m not keen on lurpack. It’s kind of greasy and bland.

I like our local butter from local cows.

Went a posh restaurant once where I swear the butter was the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Wish I’d asked what it was. Good butter is a thing of wonder.

LucasLeesEyebrows · 24/01/2021 18:04
@LucasLeesEyebrows if you have a home bargains near you country life is under £2! The spreadable big size one ( normally £3 odd). That’s my fav and Aldi’s own
Brilliant. Thank you. We do have a Home Bargains, so I’ll take a look.

Floralnomad · 24/01/2021 18:08

I have Kerrygold in the butter dish and also keep Lurpack softest spreadable in the fridge which is a reasonable alternative .

deletingsugar · 24/01/2021 18:12

President. French butter is luxuriously tasty.

Ironmanrocks · 24/01/2021 18:13

Country life or Yeo valley. I like most butter but I’m trying to buy local. I do buy spreadable for sandwiches and block butter for baking etc. Also like a Cornish one called trewithin?

StanfordPines · 24/01/2021 18:14

@LaurieFairyCake

M and S Brittany

They also do a honey and cinnamon butter i loved on crumpets/tea cakes

What? They don’t seem to have it on Ocado. Bastards.
FlatteredRhubardFool · 24/01/2021 18:20

It's great to see the butter love here! It's my everyday luxury although I don't consider it a luxury really. I was once made toast by an ex bf. he put flora on it 🤢 I couldn't eat it.

I'm not really that fussed, as long as it's salted and block, then I get it. Usually Lurpak (though it's not quite salty enough for meGrin) Aldi or Kerrygold.

kerkyra · 24/01/2021 18:27

The aldi cornish one.So good we go through two a week.

SpudsandGravy · 24/01/2021 18:29

I really like the Aldi one with salt flakes.

As for how to use it when it's too cold (and it's always too cold where I live) I started a thread recently (here in AIBU) and people came up with loads of helpful suggestions. Worth digging it out 👍

Ostryga · 24/01/2021 18:34

Ooh op you should give making butter a go. It’s super easy, and is absolutely delicious when it’s fresh. Can’t beat it!

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 24/01/2021 18:35

President or Kerrygold depending on where I shop

Tartyflette · 24/01/2021 18:35

Lescure French butter is indeed divine, but around £2.60! 😳
In France I love unpasteurised , unsalted butter when i can get it. It's made from ripened, unpasteurised milk and has a wonderful tangy taste.
Isigny Ste-Mère is nice too.

trickyex · 24/01/2021 18:42

Goats butter. Much easier to spread than cows butter. Not cheap £2.40 but very nice

Delamere Goat's butter, it's absolutely gorgeous.
