Currently on KerryGold which is £1.90 and rarely on offer. I used to buy Tesco own label but since lockdown I haven't been shopping there. We go through a 250g every couple of days due to my dcs addiction to freshly baked bread toasted and buttered.
What's your favourite?
(I don't want to get into any discussion about butter v spreadable products just want to hear good butter recommendations really).

I like one with sea salt crystals. The Aldi one (black paper) and the Asda ones are nice

I'd like to find a way to give it up, but fear im addicted ShockGrin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 24/01/2021 20:06

@CakeRequired

Unhelpful, but I buy Tesco own brand. Grin It's like what 80p? I do use quite a lot with sandwiches and baking too. Usually have to buy two packs a week and there's only two of us. Blush
I wish butter was only 80p!!
EerieSilence · 24/01/2021 20:07

Kerrygold is my favourite, Glenisk too.
I hate margarine or that stuff you get where proper butter is mixed with oils. Just icky. Tastes like you're spreading plastic on your bread. I can't imagine the palate of people who like margarine, it must look like a sanding sheet.

LadyPenelope68 · 24/01/2021 20:08

M&S salted butter, best one there is and not bad at £1.60

LadyPenelope68 · 24/01/2021 20:08

@AnnaSW1
President one always taste a bit off to me!
Me too!

Lookingforwardto2021 · 24/01/2021 20:09

I like butter that is made with raw milk and unsalted.

Preferably raw sheep or goats milk.

Tastes divine

Lookingforwardto2021 · 24/01/2021 20:10

I have also made my own with fresh cream. Commercial butters from pasteurised milk taste a bit claggy once you get used to raw milk ones (same for cheeses)

Lalliella · 24/01/2021 20:13

I love Lurpak but Aldi’s rip-off version Nordpak is just as good. Lidl’s version Danepak is not however.

TheBeesKnee · 24/01/2021 20:15

I don't use butter every day. I used to be vegan so it just doesn't occur to me most of the time. However, when I have fresh bread and butter or crushes potatoes with butter and dill it has to be Guernsey Butter from Waitrose, £2.10

Most others that I've tried have failed to live up to expectations. I am reluctant to try lots of different ones because I still have half a block of bloody Lurpak in the fridge from before Covid Hmm

Lookingforwardto2021 · 24/01/2021 20:19

For example, this raw butter is good

funinthesun19 · 24/01/2021 20:21

Lurpak. I can’t stand anything else. The last tub I bought was £2.75.

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/01/2021 20:24

Aldi nordpak spreadable lighter. Utterly butterly tastes more like lard than butter to me.

LazyFace · 24/01/2021 20:24

We have something in my home coubtry called 'tea butter'. It's creamy, white and best enjoyed at about 0.5 cm thickness.

No butter in the shops in the UK like that. I got very close to a similar taste when I made butter from the cream off the top of raw milk I used to buy a few years ago but unfortunately the farm stopped selling the milk.

MondeoFan · 24/01/2021 20:24

Anchor or Aldi in the black wrapper.

I buy 2 blocks per week for family of 4. My nan used to use 2 blocks a week and she lived alone.

georgarina · 24/01/2021 20:30

Lurpak Lighter

Second to that Anchor

Tavannach · 24/01/2021 20:33

President - I prefer unsalted. Costs about 2 quid usually.

321zyx · 24/01/2021 20:34

President spreadable (slightly salted) is the best.

RatherLostPenguins · 24/01/2021 20:40

Morrison's own salted one here unless they have others on a good offer, always a block never any of the so-called spreadable ones.

Our kitchen is really cold so it's usually solid but I've found sticking enough for what I need in a mug and no more than 10 seconds in the microwave is enough to soften it without melting it.

melononapear · 24/01/2021 20:41

I'm not a huge fan of butter but one I do love is Rodda's, I think it might be a local brand? It's so creamy & salty, I actually gave some as part of a present one year, it's so good 😍 Expensive though at about £2.50 but I love the little lines in it like it's made with the traditional butter pats 😊

I have also made my own and that was delicious too 😋

Procrastination4 · 24/01/2021 20:43

Glenstal would be my favourite (but probably not available outside Ireland); after that, it’s automatically Kerrygold.

sotiredofthislonelylife · 24/01/2021 20:46

Président spreadable for me!

TomorrowIsAnotherDae · 24/01/2021 20:49

@TardisThroughTime

M&S softer butter
My favourite too.
2021vision · 24/01/2021 20:51

Aldi West Country Butter in the black wrapper £1.59 www.aldi.co.uk/west-country-butter/p/013317290136100

For cooking I buy what's on offer or the Waitrose/Aldi basic one

rockingthelook · 24/01/2021 20:51

President
Shirgar, a nice welsh salted butter, but as someone lese mentioned I 've just tried Flora block Plant butter on offer to club card holders for £1 in tesco, very nice

speakout · 24/01/2021 20:55

Oh buys a block of butter once in a while.
Gets thrown out after 6 weeks or so. Family of 5. No one eats butter. Or spread.
