Butter-what's your favourite and how much is it?

Currently on KerryGold which is £1.90 and rarely on offer. I used to buy Tesco own label but since lockdown I haven't been shopping there. We go through a 250g every couple of days due to my dcs addiction to freshly baked bread toasted and buttered.
What's your favourite?
(I don't want to get into any discussion about butter v spreadable products just want to hear good butter recommendations really).

I only use butter if baking certain things...I use big standard flora for buttering bread, etc, but if I buy real butter it’s just whichever salted butter is cheapest. I’m not attached to any particular one.

Babyroobs · 24/01/2021 19:03

Lidl's Danpak is amazing and cheap.

CakeRequired · 24/01/2021 19:13

a few years ago it was that price but this time last year it was about £1.44.

Really? At my Tesco it's never been above £1 Confused

LizzieMacQueen · 24/01/2021 19:21

Tesco salted and unsalted here are £1.49. Never on offer. Wonder where you are? I'm Central Scotland.

Serin · 24/01/2021 19:22

I dont like yellow butter, so Anchor and countrylife are out.
I love President.
Then Aldi Cornish
Then Aldi Norpak (which is a total bragain at £1.55 for 250g) which I use for baking and cooking.
Really dont like Lurpak anymore, it just tastes oily to me.

AnotherEmma · 24/01/2021 19:29

Yeo Valley - I like the spreadable one Grin but they do blocks of it too.

I'm dairy-free atm so having Flora instead which is obviously inferior to butter but not too bad, you do get used to it.

FirstladyKirkman · 24/01/2021 19:31

Lurpak slightly salted.
An inch thick.
On fresh crusty bread.

🤤🤤🤤

Bloodypunkrockers · 24/01/2021 19:35

Scottish butter with Skye sea salt. Lovely

Tesco salted and unsalted for baking

I love butter

A bit Hmm at a pp saying they were a butter snob and buy country life. A bit like those who think Thornton's are "posh chocs"

Bloodypunkrockers · 24/01/2021 19:37

And I've never seen butter for £1 for years

FreeButtonBee · 24/01/2021 19:37

Kerrygold here and nothing else will do (well other Irish butter when I’m at home - dairy gold etc). I always think it says a lot that in Ireland you get butter in lb packs. Those little 250g units feel so stingey to me!

Cocolapew · 24/01/2021 19:42

DH had Lurpak when staying in a hotel and went on some much about it I bought some. I can't see the attraction myself, why's it so pale?
I like Kerry Gold or Golden Cow.

MrsDThomas · 24/01/2021 19:43

On a sandyi use Clover. Ill pay whatever the price. I loathe Flora and Utterly Butterly will not be allowed in my house😂

But i use proper butter on toast. Welsh and very salted! I buy it at the local butchers for £2.40

LightDrizzle · 24/01/2021 19:45

Kerrygold!
It’s incredible.

loveyouradvice · 24/01/2021 19:46

We had the MOST delicious butter in a posh restaurant in Scotland a couple of years ago - all 10 of us demolishing two plates of it with their wonderful bread... we assumed they had made it themselves, it was that kind of place... and when we asked the waitress told us confidentially it was from Lidl!!!!! SO GOOD.....

adriennewillfly · 24/01/2021 19:48

Guernsey butter. DH used to be able to blind taste different butters, and his favourite was Guernsey butter from when he worked there. You can get it in waitrose. Sooo rich

DamsonBramble · 24/01/2021 19:48

I've got Tesco Butterpak £2.20 at the moment but going to try President

Sugarplumfairy65 · 24/01/2021 19:55

Longley Farm butter is the best in the world!

Twinkie01 · 24/01/2021 19:57

Lurpak Lighter Spreadable.

MiiToo · 24/01/2021 19:58

The Aldi one with salt crystals, in a black wrapper, it’s about £1.60

JaquelineBeanstalk · 24/01/2021 19:59

Love butter! But is has to be proper butter, what is all this lurpak nonsense?

Local Irish butter for everyday usage. Jersey or Cornish butter for great toast etc.

Calmandmeasured1 · 24/01/2021 20:01

Anchor spreadable.

movingonup20 · 24/01/2021 20:03

Salted Lidl butter is fine and £1.49

AnnaSW1 · 24/01/2021 20:04

Lurpak

FelicityMingington · 24/01/2021 20:04

Lurpak is lovely, also Kerrygold.

(These also have the big advantage of not being British - I avoid buying things from English farmers where possible ever since the brexity idiots shot themselves and the rest of us in the foot Grin)

AnnaSW1 · 24/01/2021 20:05

President one always taste a bit off to me!
