These are mine - and yes, even now, if I can get myself into focussing on the now, I can feel happy in the moment of drinking these in....

  • The four beautiful snowdrops that are now out in the garden
  • Our dog having a great dream, full of wuffles and twitches
  • The vaccination numbers each day - I can't believe we have now vaccinated more than 1 in 10 of the UK population! Phenomenal
  • Good food... yup, sitting down and eating something I enjoy like scrambled eggs or a bowl of good soup makes me feel so much better... and even cherished

Spending more time with my lovely dh

ZooeyS · 23/01/2021 17:45

Tony Chocolonely dark chocolate and pretzel bars

My lovely old dog, who still seems just ecstatic that his person is with him All The Time

Long baths with Neals Yard orange bath oil and Joni Mitchell on the stereo

Sunday film club - dd, dh and I take it in turns to choose a movie each week. It’s my turn tomorrow Grin

Buying secondhand books - gives me a real boost for the price of a takeaway coffee

Randomrebel · 23/01/2021 17:47

A local dog walk outside on a cold bright day improves my mood so much. Also enjoy seeing the dog running about like a crazy thing.

We eat together on a night which is lovely to have the teens in the same room as us.

Smiling and saying hello to someone from a distance and them being smiley and cheerful back.

Getting a really nice letter from DS’s school about how hard he is working at his subjects and inspiring his peers (this wasn’t always the case with him but I am so proud of him).

Relaxing with DH and feeling comfortable at the end of the day.

Oneearringlost · 23/01/2021 17:49

@SingToTheSky

My new piano. I have delayed the decision to change my much loved but broken upright of 23 years, but now I have a digital and I have played pretty much every day since it arrived, I’m back to playing harder stuff too because I can wear headphones etc. It’s making me so happy!

Being able to do some art with DD1 for school (she’s just started art GCSE) - nice to spend some time just me and her and to be creative

Mario U Deluxe on the switch :o

The fact our housing association is taking a cupboard out in the kitchen next week which means we can get a dishwasher! Both DH and I have disabilities and this will make a massive difference to daily life.

Can you tell me more about your piano, I want to get my DD one, she misses our one at home, small flat, super stressy teacher job... Do you mind me asking the price, how big it is and if it is as good, tone- wise as an upright traditional one?

Walks with podcast, coffee and croissant

My beautiful cat

Tidying up indoors and actually enjoying it & feeling a sense of achievement afterwards

Watching random TV with my OH, we have an eclectic taste and have dipped into all sorts in the past year.

With a cat...
And a cup of tea.

Also the bulbs coming up, the lighter days and my lovely colleagues, even if I don't see them in the flesh. And last but not least my lovely comforting DH Smile

Wine (I think this may have come up already actually). Our pet rabbits. Comfort reading (currently on Barbara Pym) Now I’m about to light a fire and cook everyone a roast dinner!

Great idea for a thread OP. It helps to stay positive.

Have you read "Excellent Women" Duck? My dad was a clergyman, I grew up with many of them!
Babymamaroon · 23/01/2021 17:59

What a lovely thread OP!

A long, hot bath with gorgeous smelling oils
A leisurely cup of tea first thing at the weekends
Much more family time thanks to WFH
Snuggling on the sofa with the DC watching a good film
The days getting longer
A Hawksmoor at Home delivery booked to look forward to
My electric blanket Smile

honeylulu · 23/01/2021 18:01

Exercise (am doing Millionaire Hoy's 100 day Breakthrough at the moment).
Walking in the woods (a weekend thing as have to drive a few miles).
Hugs - mostly get these from my six year olds who is very huggy.
Soaps - Corrers and Eastenders which I always try to watch in real time; helps add some structure and normality to those days, otherwise I'd carry on working into the evening.
Putting on nail polish. It really does cheer me up. I do lots of Teams meetings so it gets seen by others too.
When all of my family end up laughing uproariously at these same thing, which is rare as we dont all share the same sense of humour. This happened when the re-runs of Blackadder were on.

FolkyFoxFace · 23/01/2021 18:09

The way it's both trying to snow AND trying to be very sunny of a morning.
The pile of books my husband got me for Christmas.
The painting overalls I decided to splash out on, as I'm a very messy artist.
The way my baby is getting more and more active in my womb every day. Only a few weeks to go now.
Soft pyjamas.
Lovely smelling perfume.

@Crispyturtle thank you, I hope he does remember these things. We are trying to keep some sort of routine for him with nice things like this, Friday night is pizza night etc.

WantChewbaccaForGood · 23/01/2021 18:24

Taking FIL for his vaccine has made me very happy!

Selecting which pair of naice socks to wear.

Getting obsessed with a piece of music and playing it on loop.

Doing things I used to when I was a kid (including
pretending I own a horse and browsing pretty things online - Fortnum & Mason, Panama pantry or good old Ebay- I like choosing things).

SweetMeadow · 23/01/2021 18:26

This thread (such a lovely idea).
The 5 mins I have on my own to unwind as I get the bath ready for DD whilst she’s downstairs with DP.
First cup of tea in the morning.
Cuddles with my dog on the sofa.

Newpuppymummy · 23/01/2021 18:27

Being outside for a walk

VinylDetective · 23/01/2021 18:31

I bought daffodils today.
My little dog is currently snuggled up on my lap.
There’s pie and chips for dinner.
We had a Nest installed this week and the house is the warmest it’s ever been.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 23/01/2021 18:38

Right now I've got some really weird pregnancy cravings but none are food related, like the smell of the washing powder. I spend more time sniffing the clean washing coming out the machine than I do hanging it up.
The smell of the steam in the shower, and I like to have it quite hot and let in run into my mouth 😳.
Also love the smell of the hot water and fairy liquid when I do the dishes. I like to have that water pretty hot because I like it nipping my hands a bit.
Apart from those weird things, I've enjoyed watching quite a few series on Netflix, iplayer etc. Old and new.
We've had quite a few sunny frosty days here which I love ( not that I can go out when it's slippy because dp is always at work and I'm really off balance atm).
I'm spending a lot of time in bed because of spd and back pain, and I love it when one or both of the kids just come in and sit down next to me. They don't really come in for anything, just to sit with me. The dog is always at my side aswell. He even tries to come to the toilet with me, which can be a bit annoying, but cute at the same time.
I'm up quite a bit through the night and have seen quite a few foxes in the street, saw an owl the other night. That always makes me happy, like there's a different world going on at night when everyone's asleep and I get a wee glimpse of it.

Youreatragedystartingtohappen · 23/01/2021 18:46
