These are mine - and yes, even now, if I can get myself into focussing on the now, I can feel happy in the moment of drinking these in....

  • The four beautiful snowdrops that are now out in the garden
  • Our dog having a great dream, full of wuffles and twitches
  • The vaccination numbers each day - I can't believe we have now vaccinated more than 1 in 10 of the UK population! Phenomenal
  • Good food... yup, sitting down and eating something I enjoy like scrambled eggs or a bowl of good soup makes me feel so much better... and even cherished

Wine (I think this may have come up already actually).
Our pet rabbits.
Comfort reading (currently on Barbara Pym)
Now I’m about to light a fire and cook everyone a roast dinner!

Great idea for a thread OP. It helps to stay positive.

DH being at home more, and more relaxed from not working.
Going for slow walks in the morning, and coming home to have cooked breakfast and hot tea.
Cooking with DH and dancing around the kitchen.
Colouring in DH's tattoos with sparkly gel pens when he falls asleep next to me Grin

Posh cheese and biscuits

  • Making my working from home space cosy with nice cushions on the chair, scented candles and tidied files
  • Walking by the river each day with the DCs, followed by hot chocolate and an episode of The Chronicles of Narnia
  • The robin who visits our garden daily. I’d never had time to notice his routine before
yearinyearout · 23/01/2021 17:17

Got out for a lovely two hour walk in the sunshine somewhere I haven't been before (and the coffee hut was open 😁)

Had some nice cake halfway round that I'd packed to take with me

Fit in a good afternoon nap this afternoon

Noticed that it wasn't quite dark at 5pm so the lighter nights are coming ☀️

Listening to music from my youth with my DC’s. They were getting a bit restless earlier so I put on Music for the Jilted Generation and turned it up loud. Instant crowd pleaser! 😂

A lovely thread in a sea of froth, meaness and judgement.
Yes, indeed.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 23/01/2021 17:28

Watching YouTube videos where people slip on ice Blush

SugarMiceInTheRain · 23/01/2021 17:32

Watching live streams of Mischief Movie Night In - highly recommended this for a laugh when you're down.
Cuddling with DC. Even nearly 15 year old DS1 still comes and cuddles up and it just makes me feel, for a moment, like all is right with the world.
Walks with a friend in the fresh air. He has struggled so much recently with lockdown on top of family problems that he was self harming. I think we both really need those walks to just talk nonsense and laugh (and exercise of course)
Taking time to treat myself in silly little ways, like bubble baths, making frothy hot chocolate with cream on top or doing a sheet mask or painting my nails.

Sparklehead · 23/01/2021 17:33

Like many other posters, seeing the shoots from bulbs peeping through the earth. Also my broad beans and garlic are starting to grow.

Lighting the fire in the woodburner every afternoon, getting the sitting-room cosy.

Walking into work. I work in a big, busy hospital wearing PPE all day. The walk is 3 miles, almost all of it off road. I love and appreciate being in the fresh air before I start my day. I can’t do it every day because of childcare commitments but I really appreciate it when I do.

The first cup of tea in the morning, especially if no one else in the household is awake.

Board games with the DC. We got a few cooperative board games for Christmas and it’s so much more enjoyable seeing them work together rather than the inevitable fall-out when one of them loses.

Jagsy · 23/01/2021 17:37

A Spotify playlist I have made of upbeat songs that put me in a good mood.
Going to work, helps me escape the house and bring a sense of normality.
Biscuits! Or cake or puddings - you get the gist…

PyjamaFan · 23/01/2021 17:39

The people in my life; my partner, family, and my lovely colleagues (I'm a teacher).

Going for a walk every day and doing an online exercise class 5 times a week even if I don't feel like it.

Cooking and eating good food.

Escapism in the form of books, podcasts, radio 4, films, TV dramas.

winterinmadeira · 23/01/2021 17:40

Gin
A nice walk
Baking a cake
Chocolate!

Crispyturtle · 23/01/2021 17:42

@GigantosaurusRex your post has made me teary, it’s little traditions like that your DS will remember forever Smile

For me
Going on little rambles with my two DDs & spotting interesting things in nature. We heard a woodpecker pecking today in the woods.

Doing my make-up even though we’re not going anywhere or seeing anyone. I’m not particularly good at it but I enjoy the process.

Lighting the log-burner & turning on my heated throw on the sofa

Work is keeping me sane, as busy as ever & I get to talk to other grown ups

My Dad’s got his vaccination apt next Friday and I could cry I’m so relieved.

lurch3r · 23/01/2021 17:42

My little cat snuggling up to me in the bed at night.
A walk to the beach - it's 5 miles but do-able
The light coming back
Lie in on a Saturday after a 5am start in the week
Having a jigsaw on the go in the kitchen
