Joules clothes...opinions?

Just browsing the Joules sale and some of their clothes look quite nice (a lot of Breton stripes and florals).

I've never bought from there before - does anyone shop there? Is the quality any good?

Not an AIBU but like hearing others' opinions.

Not particularly helpful I know, but cant abide their trademark breton stripe/ floral combo they have on everything..anytime I see someone wearing it, I think 'yep, Joules again' Grin
I have bought odd item for niece in sale though and quality seemed good.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 22:18

Thanks @Msfoxy17 - I know where you're coming from, their looks seem very distinctive! As long as the quality is up to scratch that's the main thing Smile

I'm wearing a pair of their cotton trousers and the quality is good. They were pink, but I dyed them and they still look good.

🙈 I love joules but tend to buy for my DD(4) rather than myself. Quality is great on the kids clothes!

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 22:20

Their stuff looks casual and good for perhaps working from home in?

I buy a lot from there but personally find their tops quite short and a bit on the small size, I’m normally a size 8 but get a 10 in joules tops. Line pp said I can easily spot a joules top or coat mikes away Grin

PrivateParty · 22/01/2021 22:21

I have 4 waterproof joules jackets and 4 pairs of their wellies (tall, short, shorter). They've all lasted well.. Not had any of their normal clothes.

Thecazelets · 22/01/2021 22:21

I like the polka dot stuff, but in my experience the quality is variable (fabrics pill and fade quickly - I had one cotton jersey dress that only survived one wash), and a comment from someone on here that a lot of it 'looks like the clothes you can buy from the garden centre' utterly killed it for me.

Terrylovesyogurt · 22/01/2021 22:24

I love their clothes! Think there's lots of snobbery about Joules on MN. They wash really well, children's clothes great, still look brand new with lots of wear and washing. And they're v comfy too, perfect for wearing around the house

WeMarchOn · 22/01/2021 22:24

Love Joules & Crew Clothing

sproutsnbacon · 22/01/2021 22:26

The quality is not as good as it used to be but the tops and sweatshirts are still good. Rydale sweatshirts are as good quality but not as attractive. The wellies are crap and they don’t give a years guarantee with the premium ones anymore so I buy rockfish instead.

peaceanddove · 22/01/2021 22:27

Joules clothes look jaunty. And, unless you're appearing in panto, jaunty is never a look to aspire to.

Africa2go · 22/01/2021 22:28

It's kind of Boden - identifiable at 100m. Good quality but expensive for kids, mumsy for anyone over the age of 8 (sorry!)

sproutsnbacon · 22/01/2021 22:28

I have a lot of joules clothing some 10 years old and still going strong. I like the designs just wish they’d make the quality they did 10 years ago.

Embroideredstars · 22/01/2021 22:29

My son loves their bright coloured coloured, particular the trousers. Not many places do bright coloured trousers for children over a certain age.

Sheleg · 22/01/2021 22:30

I was given some Joules bits for DD when she was born, and the quality is gorgeous. I wouldn't fork out for the adults' stuff though. stingy

SpaceOp · 22/01/2021 22:33

I buy a fair bit for dd in their sales and like the kids quality - mostly t shirts, shorts and dresses. I have a few things from there for me and while I like them, the quality is less good than I would expect. I have a pair of trousers and a pair of shorts in their thick cotton (like denim lite?) And while I love both items, colour has faded a LOT, so both feel more casual now than the slightly smart casual vibe when I bought them. Also have a vest top that I like but it's very flimsy and thin. I think I keep buying it for the a slightly smarter casual look but then finding the clothes really are for holidays and weekends.

SpaceOp · 22/01/2021 22:34

Oh, and surprised to hear someone else say sizing is small. I find the opposite. I am size 16 and find their 16 good because they are slightly more generous which, as at least 1 size of that is my breasts, is helpful!! [Grin]

IracebethOfCrims · 22/01/2021 22:35

I’ve bought the odd item from Joules. The quality is good, their clothes wash well but a lot of their stuff is a bit mumsy. I do like their patterned wellies though.

Loushome · 22/01/2021 22:35

Agree with a PP - their wellies are seriously shocking, don’t consider them if you’re actually planning on walking in rain! They’ll break within weeks....I’ve been given replacement pairs on 3 separate occasions by Joules now but they still deny an issue with them Confused

Kids clothing is great and has a good resale value on Ebay.

NotCornflakes · 22/01/2021 22:38

Their stuff is too bright, twee and expensive for me.

ktp100 · 22/01/2021 22:38

I like their gillets and have a couple of jumpers. Quality is good.

I also bought a long, belted shirt dress in their last sale. I was surprised how nice it was when it arrived.

I do tend to buy more for my son than me there but I'd definitely order things I like, no worries about quality etc.

Agree.
lastqueenofscotland · 22/01/2021 22:40

I have a couple of their shirts. I really rate the quality personally. Admittedly purchased about 6 years ago.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 22:41

I agree that their stuff looks "mumsy". But I don't see that as necessarily a bad thing.
I'm thinking more for just lazing around the house and working from home. Not sure what size I'd need to order though (I'm a good size 12 but sometimes need a 14 depending on the shop).

Is it similar to Fat Face quality? I adore Fat Fat stuff and find their clothes wash brilliantly.
