Joules clothes...opinions?

Just browsing the Joules sale and some of their clothes look quite nice (a lot of Breton stripes and florals).

I've never bought from there before - does anyone shop there? Is the quality any good?

Not an AIBU but like hearing others' opinions.

To twee for me :-)

BringPizza · 22/01/2021 22:43

@Africa2go

It's kind of Boden - identifiable at 100m. Good quality but expensive for kids, mumsy for anyone over the age of 8 (sorry!)
This. Not my cup of tea, bit grumpy and naff.
LibrariesGiveUsPower45321 · 22/01/2021 22:43

I like their stuff. Good nicer casual wear. Wouldn’t buy their boots though.

BringPizza · 22/01/2021 22:43

*bit frumpy Grin

winterw · 22/01/2021 22:44

There welly's are terrible they do not last at all there is definitely a issue with these as I've had mine replaced on several occasions. I love there long fluffy welly socks and boot slippers I not had many clothes as I'm not keen on some of the prints.

SaveMySkin · 22/01/2021 22:44

I buy for the kids when there is a decent sale and have wellies and a coat for myself. Quality is good but often I just can't stomach the price

Iloveacurry · 22/01/2021 22:44

I’ve got one of their rain coats from their eBay selling site. Much cheaper than their actual site, and no delivery charge! Really pleased with it.

SaveMySkin · 22/01/2021 22:45

ooh I'm going to have to look up their ebay shop

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 22:45

I get why people would think it is frumpy. But I'm not looking for a party dress (no point at the minute!) just some decent quality stuff that is comfortable enough to wear around the house.

Love their knitwear and harbour tops.

superram · 22/01/2021 22:45

I think the quality is good and washes well. I’ve got quite a few striped dresses that I haven’t worn as I sized down and now I’ve lost weight I don’t like the style. They are Mindy but I’ll wear to work (teacher) as I’m old enough to be their mum so they won’t care.

I'll check out their eBay site. Thanks for the heads up!

I find the fabric is thicker than Fat Face, so better quality in that respect.

I always size down one or two sizes. They changed their sizing about 18 months ago and everything is more generous now. Shirts/blouses in particular are very baggy for the size they are meant to be.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/01/2021 22:49

I wear it all the time. I love it. Really good quality, washes well. Some of it I’ve had for 10 years plus and it’s still going strong. Wellies, coats, tops, skirts, dresses...kids stuff too.

TokyoSushi · 22/01/2021 22:51

I have absolutely loads of stuff from there, I'm proud to say that I love it!!

If you're a 12/14 I'd go with a 14 but yes, great work from home wear!

witheringrowan · 22/01/2021 22:51

I'm wearing a pair of Joules pjs right now. Really comfortable and the trousers have pockets!

idontlikealdi · 22/01/2021 22:53

Loved it when it was an actual outdoors brand, now it's an ubiquitous mummy look. Depends what you're after. The Bretons are really boxy and thick now.

Amanduh · 22/01/2021 22:54

They’re ok. The quality is ok. Their price point is way too high and not worth what their outlets charge. Their kids stuff doesn’t last much longer than eg Sainsburys or Zara. So a ‘decent’ amount but not hardwearing.

HorseOfPhillipMoss · 22/01/2021 22:57

I like it, I work in an environment that's fairly casual, but not jeans (a colleague once described our dress code as 'teacherwear'), so their dresses, skirts and shirts are suitable. Also we sometimes end up pulling very long shifts and it's comfortable. Is it a bit mumsy yes, but I'm the wrong side of 35 and a mum, I can't be bothered with fashion and fads anymore. I just want things I like, that are comfortable, wash well and aren't just black or drab colours.

Besiegedbykillersquirrels · 22/01/2021 22:57

Their wellies are ridiculous. I was told that they stand by their disclaimer that they are sold as 'fashion items' and can't be expected to actually welly. Wearing Joules clothes is like wearing a club uniform; everybody knows where they're from, they're not classic or timeless or in any way unique. You can't really dress them up or down. They're just... Joules. I think as a brand it's become as naff as Cath Kidston became about five years ago.

Pawpatrollers2021 · 22/01/2021 22:58

Their baby/kids stiff is wonderful, I don’t think their ladies stuff is very good quality at all in comparison, sadly.

ParisJeTAime · 22/01/2021 23:00

I have a pair of wellies and a gilet from Joules. I like their things and find the quality good for the price. It is good for practical (but not full on agricultural) clothes IME.

Pawpatrollers2021 · 22/01/2021 23:00

Does anyone else think their baby/kids offering has depleted in the past couple of years - sorry OP list hijacking your thread!

Sholmit · 22/01/2021 23:02

I have a coat, its waterproof, warm, and I can sit down in it. I have had it for 2 years. What more could anyone want, it is not a fashion item but is wearable clothing that keeps me warm and dry.

SonjaMorgan · 22/01/2021 23:05

I think it is very expensive for the quality. Cos, Hobbs and jigsaw all have sales on and are worth a look if you aren't loving the patterns. Cos especially seem to be better quality.
