Joules clothes...opinions?

Just browsing the Joules sale and some of their clothes look quite nice (a lot of Breton stripes and florals).

I've never bought from there before - does anyone shop there? Is the quality any good?

I’ve got a couple of the Breton tops and have found them good quality - thick fabric, reliable sizing and they’ve washed well.

SpaceOp · 22/01/2021 23:22

I'd say fat face is better quality personally but only slightly.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/01/2021 23:25

I got their slippers recently as now I'm wfh I can wear then 18 hours a day Grin

I've got 4 Joules coats and jackets - great quality. Got a couple of Bretons - wash well.

MotherOfUnicorns4 · 22/01/2021 23:29

I love Joules stuff! The wellies have lasted ages for my DD. Great quality fun clothing and accessories.

Honeyroar · 22/01/2021 23:33

I love a lot of Joules stuff, but I would only buy it in the sales. I like their harbour tops and jumpers. I’ve heard so much bad stuff about their wellies though. I agree that sizes are smallish. Although their slippers are like buckets! Their clothes last well too. I do get a little bored of the stripes/flowers though.

emotionalpuddle · 22/01/2021 23:35

I love their clothes, I don't find it mummsy. I'm a solid 12 basically everywhere (baring Hollister) and the 12s in joules always fit. I have numerous coats, bags, tops, dresses and tunics which I live in... everything washes well and hasn't faded, also super comfy! Hope that helps?

I really like their clothes, especially the knitwear but do find that they don't wash or wear very well. I've bought a lot recently but have stopped now, as the quality just doesn't seem great.

Jumpers get overly bobbly in no time, T-shirt's and tops fade and shrink.

alltoomuchrightnow · 22/01/2021 23:41

Frumpy in my view. I have a jacket that I got because it's waterproof and I needed at time to go away but stopped wearing it as it makes me look v mumsy. I'm not a mum and never will be, so...
I do like the odd dress though.
Quality is good

harknesswitch · 22/01/2021 23:42

Oh and I bought some wellies, looked lovely and were comfy but they started leaking in less than a year with moderate wear

alltoomuchrightnow · 22/01/2021 23:42

To me it looks like garden centre clothes, No not clothes you wear to the garden centre! Clothing that is sold there..

LegoAndLolDolls · 22/01/2021 23:43

Most of their stuff is good quality. I even only buy in the sale and haven't been disappointed.

I used to buy their stuff when they only sold outdoor / riding clothing. I bought some lovely breeches and a couple of polo shirts and jumpers are still going strong about 15 years later.

They dont make much proper riding gear any more and the quality is not so good. It's gone the way of Barbour and no worn as fashion rather than utility. It's a shame.

Shopaholic100 · 22/01/2021 23:50

I’ve bought two products from Joules recently, a pair of Cheltenham leather Chelsea boots which are really comfortable and needed no breaking in and a Shoreside coat which also looks very good quality (not had an opportunity to wear yet due to lockdown). The customer service was excellent when I had a query too. Delivery was quick. If I find something I like I’d definitely use them again.

5foot5 · 22/01/2021 23:50

I have bought a few Joules things and the quality has always been good and they have lasted well. I bought a hoodie sweatshirt about 10 years ago from there and its still in decent condition.

DH likes their Rugby shirts and they do wear well and look nice

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 22/01/2021 23:50

I’ve got loads of their T-shirt’s and sweatshirts and gilets, for some reason. And scarves. Have had some nice dresses. I don’t think it looks like ‘garden centre clothes’, their range is enormous on their website, there must be something for everyone.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 22/01/2021 23:51

So the general consensus is that they are good quality clothes, albeit a bit mumsy. I'm not a mum myself but I like the Breton stripe look!

I usually shop at Fat Face and I've always found their clothing to be great quality. I may order a couple of bits from Joules and see for myself what they're like Smile thanks everyone for your comments

I don’t think they’re dissimilar to Fatface really in terms of quality. If you see a style you like you’ll be fine. Some of the stuff is mumsy but a lot isn’t. It’s country set clothing.

1stMrsF · 23/01/2021 00:03

I only found Joules just recently and I really like. I also like Fat Face and Boden (so happy to read what a loser that makes me according to many of the pp Hmm)

I find the sizing very generous. Quality of fabric is variable - I have two identical skirts in different prints and one has faded and piled and the other looks good. Would probably not buy full price but think sale stock is good value for money. It's cut and finished quite well for what it is. I have a swimsuit I bought in the sale which I haven't yet worn but seems very high quality. I also like my short wellies, but don't really wear for long hikes, more tripping around a campsite (when you can do that sort of thing).

ichundich · 23/01/2021 00:04

I find it overpriced and boring, sorry! The quality isn't amazing either.

MarleyTheDog · 23/01/2021 00:20

I have waterproof coat from Joules which I love for walking the dog. It does what it says on the tin and has lasted years 😊

I have a jumper, Gilet and trousers from Joules. All good but size up.

However, I bought a pair of wellies in the sale last year - absolutely useless!

Coldilox · 23/01/2021 00:41

I’ve got a few shirts and jumpers, and this year I got a winter coat which is lovely and warm. Not so keen on the floral stuff, but I do like them.

toconclude · 23/01/2021 00:49

@SpaceOp

Oh, and surprised to hear someone else say sizing is small. I find the opposite. I am size 16 and find their 16 good because they are slightly more generous which, as at least 1 size of that is my breasts, is helpful!! [Grin]
I find them tight too. I have a broad back/broad shoulders, maybe that's the issue?
