To think Mumsnet isn't any better than Tattle life?

The site claims to be "commentary and critique of people who chose to monetise their lives as a business and release it to the public domain"

From my time on the site I've found it to be just that. Honest, and well measured critique of someone who has chosen to market themselves and/or their families online.

The threads I've seen via Instagramers claiming to be bullied has just been people giving a perfectly reasonable negative opinion on them, or something they have done. Surely if you are putting yourself online to gain followers you accept the good and the bad, and that not everything negative is bullying, still just an opinion?

Mumsnet on the other hand claims to be a resource of support for parents, but I regularly see posters jumped etc usually on a perfectly reasonable post.

AIBU to think Mumsnet isn't any holier?

Tattle is waaaaay more polite than MN Grin

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 08/01/2021 20:44

I mean, they mostly target influencers who put their entire lives out there, yet block any valid criticism on social media. If you choose that kind of career, you can't expect to live in a happy echo chamber. They also expose some serious grifters, like a certain poverty campaigner who is always begging for donations online.

It's also where I found out what a Dubai porta potty is, so err, thanks Tattle.

Who literally even gives a shit !?!?
It’s websites
Like whatever

Womencanlift · 08/01/2021 20:53

Not so much content but the format of Tattle is better. You can quote sections of quotes much easier than MN (mobile version especially) and I like the fact you can respond to individual posts with just a like/love/angry etc.

And yes it’s opened my eyes to certain celeb scandals that I didn’t know about and the dodgy world of influencers

Womencanlift · 08/01/2021 20:54
  • quite sections of posts even
TopBants · 08/01/2021 20:58

Anyone else wonder if Tattle is using this MN thread to drum up new sign-ups?

I've never heard of them (not that that's indicative of much).

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2021 21:03

It sounds like a comparison between apples and oranges TBF. Unless Tattle is also a website also geared up to parenting advice.

EwwwwDavid · 08/01/2021 21:07

I flick between here and Tattle. Never posted on Tattle though and I only really read one thread about an 'instamum' who's local to me as I find it weirdly fascinating Grin. But as pp have said, it's a bit of a guilt secret 😂. I only discuss it with one friend who also reads the same thread.

Well, that's Mumsnet's tagline. But the site covers lots of topics- style and beauty, cat and dog ownership, property, legal stuff, celebrity and TV, politics.... It's a bit disingenuous to suggest it's all parenting advice.
Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2021 21:15

The Talk Forum bit of MN has lots of Topics, but there's also information in it's own right if you go to the home page @TopBants, I am not being disingenuous, but as I have said I can't study Tattle for any length of time because they have an aversion to ad blockers. i don't know what else that site has other than the Talk bit.

HmmWeSeeYou · 08/01/2021 21:23

Sure Sure. So everyone, make sure you head over to tattle to add to their traffic confirm or deny what OP's written.

Absolutely essential. Tattle is life!

ilikebooksandplants · 08/01/2021 21:35

@RolandSchitt I have a pretty good idea who you are talking about and I agree, eye opening. The best thread on tattle!!

Aspiringmatriarch · 08/01/2021 21:35

@RolandSchitt can you give a clue about the person you're referring too? Feeling nosy. Blush

WoooooGhoulsDoAFlit · 08/01/2021 21:40

The Hinch threads on there are absolutely insane. They are literally totally obsessed with her. There are people on there who spend hours combing through every single thing she posts, just desperately searching for something they can pull to pieces. According to them her son 'hates her'. (He is not even 2, so fuck knows how they've worked that out).

cherrypie790 · 08/01/2021 21:43

I found it by chance, and enjoy the site.

The ongoing threads about Meghan and Harry have been amazing to follow - really informative and not "sugar" coated like the ones on here. In fact I no longer comment on the ones on here as you get your arse handed to you on a plate.

Don't really think they are alike enough to compare though, really. I don't follow any bloggers or Instagrammers so a huge chuck of the site is somewhere I don't venture into.

Grin

That sounds like "free to be a total see you next Tuesday and "I'm well 'ard, say it like is, a spade a spade, me" and you're just narked as you (general you) get called out/challenged on here lol
No thanks

Everleigh2021 · 08/01/2021 22:00

opened my eyes to some of the MLM scammers

The Hinch ones are the ones I've seen when they've been linked here via the IG threads. The level of obsessiveness is absolutely crazy. I can never get the mentality of "hate watching", they're as utterly obsessed as "the huns" they laugh at for "being obsessed" Confused
EwwwwDavid · 08/01/2021 22:08

@Sparklingbrook what's an adblocker? 🤔

ButtWormHole · 08/01/2021 22:11

Tattle is not ‘commentary’ on influencers lives. It is full of absolute rubbish, downright lies and assumptions.

Scbchl · 08/01/2021 22:13

Its absolutely vile. Ripping womens appearances apart, slating their relationships, houses, their friendships. It goes too far. The Mrs Meldrum thread I looked at was disgusting. It reminded me of a bunch of immature nasty school girls ripping someone apart together to make themselves feel part of an inclusive group. So many bitchy uncalled for nasty comments I'd be ashamed to make as a woman teaching my children to be kind to others and about online bullying.

Mumsnet would remove that shit for not being in the right tone or something. Quite rightly.

noteabagsleft · 08/01/2021 22:13

I have posted so many times, genuinely looking for support and advice and have been totally jumped on by lots of posters and it's never been about anything controversial! Some mumsnet users are the worst and I feel so sorry for some posters who are in a bad place and get totally ripped apart by them.
Ur allowed to have your own opinion without being nasty or judgemental over it

thebear1 · 08/01/2021 22:15

On tattle posters tend to be pleasant with each other, whilst ripping apart everything about the insta person they are united in hating. Here posters argue amongst themselves.
