Just that really. I neither like nor dislike him I don't feel any emotion towards him.
AIBU to ask why so many people on here hate/dislike Boris Johnson?

shame there's no option to vote on the thread.
can't imagine many posters going for the "Boris is a wonderful chap" option

skidadle · 08/01/2021 15:40

@TheWhalrus I've been busy looking after 2 children under 2!! So not had time to watch or read anything.
I come on here for anything I need to know when I get a spare 5 minutes Hmm

I hate Tory politics. I don't hate Boris, I wouldn't waste the energy.

TheWhalrus · 08/01/2021 15:40

@Icanseegreenshoots Could I politely ask you to explain this view. What is there to like about Boris exactly?

MilkMoon · 08/01/2021 15:40

@skidadle

No I don't watch the live press conferences or updates from him or read the papers. Before anyone asks
Can I ask whether you vote, or do you just live under a rock, emerging occasionally to ask crashingly stupid questions, out of a position of complete disengagement with the rest of the world?
snowy0wl · 08/01/2021 15:40

How on earth did he get to be prime minister then??

Because at the time of the general election the alternative was Jeremy Corbyn and the Lib Dems were not existent. It was a one horse race.

@Icanseegreenshoots - I can assure you that there are plenty of people IRL who are also frustrated with Boris and his government.

IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 · 08/01/2021 15:42

Well, BoJo was good to me, because he lost the previous election to him being elected, 2 people betted with me that he would be the next PM - I betted "no way" , the bet was for a bottle for each of my favourte champagne ! Theresa May was elected and I won! One betting partner promptly delivered the champagne (suitably cooled and which we, of course, shared). I' m still waiting for the second bottle but the 2nd. bet partner maintains that because BoJo DID become PM I owe him a bottle! He, the second bet partner, does not understand the principals of putting your pocket where your mouth is!

Fair enough....I only have an 11-month-old to keep an eye on. I ocasionally surf the news websites between sleeps

LakieLady · 08/01/2021 15:42

Mendacity, misogyny, racism, laziness, pomposity, opportunism, sexism, sexual incontinence, self-aggrandisement, lack of empathy bordering on psychopathy, and that's just off the top of my head.

Oh, and he's a Tory. Nearly forgot that bit.

skidadle · 08/01/2021 15:43

@EmbarrassingMama

Because the rest of us watch his live press conferences, read the news and listen to what he says. It's very easy to develop an opinion if you pay attention. You should try it...

Hmm

Good point! When I get the time I may try it

Are you serious!! I have no words!!

FatCatThinCat · 08/01/2021 15:47

I've never liked him. I watch Question Time and when he was on it it became the Boris Show. He was rude, he interrupted everyone else or just spoke over them. There was only one opinion that mattered and that was his. That was the high point. Add in the racism, sexist, lying, and blatant incompetance and it amazes me that anyone doesn't hate him. His failures have resulted in the unnecessary deaths of thousands of people. And the worst bit is, he doesn't care. 70,000 deaths, 100,000 deaths or whatever, his only concern is how it affects him and his position. He's a monster.

skidadle · 08/01/2021 15:48

Totally serious! I knew people disliked him and I'd heard a lot of bad about it but never paid much attention to it!

He represents the worst of this country. He has come from a position of huge privilege, which he has used to doss about and manipulate people for his own advantage. Mark my words, there’ll be some right wing Brexit billionaire giving him a bung when he leaves office as he was just there for that - to use his education and privilege to con ordinary working people into voting for a libertarian agenda that was never in their interests. He is an intellectual lightweight, who isn’t up to the job at the best of times...and we are currently in the worst of times. Awful. Just awful.

skidadle · 08/01/2021 15:52

@MilkMoon I live under a tick and occasionally emerge. You got it in one!

unmarkedbythat · 08/01/2021 15:53

He's a self serving liar who is not capable of doing the job he schemed his way into.

LakieLady · 08/01/2021 15:53

@skidadle

How on earth did he get to be prime minister then??
He got to be leader of the Tories because almost all the real talent was on the Remain side of the Brexit argument (and most of them had been chucked out) and so there wasn't much in the way of competition

And when it came to the GE, the Tories got elected because a) they were pro-Brexit and b) because Corbyn was unpopular.

I'll make no comment about the piss-poor level of political literacy in this country.

ListeningQuietly · 08/01/2021 15:54

His first name is Alexander, not Boris.

NataliaOsipova · 08/01/2021 15:55

Spot on, @LakieLady

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/01/2021 15:56

@Icanseegreenshoots

I like Boris! I think he is doing well - very well in fact given everything that has happened in the last year.

It is only on MN where I hear such hatred for him, in RL everyone seems to understand the gov are doing their best under extremely difficult circumstances.

Oh yes, because the majority of the country are sooooo intelligent, understand that vile pig’s game, look further than their borders, are cosmopolitan and think internationally. So many free thinkers out there. That’s why “What is the EU?” was the no 1 search the day after the EU referendum. I’d rather be on this side of the discussion thank you.

And don’t come wailing when the U.K. is split up and the anarchistic rich like JRM and other ERG members make even more money out of it, then the class divide becomes an unscaleable chasm. This is their long game. Boris is their pawn because they’re the ones, who helped him to get the top spot and he’s only concerned with what they think. Not what is good for the country or its citizens.

Mia1415 · 08/01/2021 15:56

I don't hate him (unlike Trump who I despise). However I think he is utterly useless as a leader as his inability to make decisions have cost lives.

notangelinajolie · 08/01/2021 15:58

The vocal Boris haters on mumsnet don't like anyone Conservative. He just happens to be their leader so is the current target of their venom. They would find fault with whoever was in charge.

Toilenstripes · 08/01/2021 15:58

My biggest problem with him has been the cronyism. I don’t care what he does with his dick. I don’t particularly mind his press conferences, but then again I’m American and Boris seems like a safe pair of hands compared to dump.

amusedtodeath1 · 08/01/2021 15:59

I don't hate him, I don't know him. I can imagine he has some good qualities and he does seem to want to do the right thing. BUT, he's clearly not the right person to be PM, especially during this situation.

HighNetGirth · 08/01/2021 16:01

Read what other Tories and conservatives say about him, and you will get a view that is not motivated by political partisanship but damning nonetheless. Max Hastings , for example.
