I asked husband to bring me a snack (crackers and cheese) and he stopped in his tracks, refused and said aren't you on a diet anymore. Aibu to be pissed off?
@SchrodingersImmigrant I thought that too 😂😂 I would club DH round the head if he spoke to me like that, I’m not 3 😂😂
Same😂

Have you ever complained about him not supporting you on a diet? Have you ever asked him to help you stop eating?

MichelleScarn · 07/01/2021 20:52

Where does it say the dh refused to let her eat a snack? He just didn't bring her one!

MrsGrindah · 07/01/2021 20:52

I was doing something with our child

Sorry but that does sound a bit martyr ish. Yes it’s not his place to regulate your food, but it’s no big deal is it? Get it yourself a bit later

Benjispruce2 · 07/01/2021 20:55

Sounds a reasonable question. If it was about something else, would it bother you so much? If you’d asked for a beer and he’d said “Aren’t you doing Dry January?” would it be an issue?

"I have a cheese as a snack on a calorie counting diet. It's healthy😁 It usually comes with apple."

I don't think it's very healthy, but it's true that you can eat anything on a slimming diet as long as your overall intake of calories is not too high. A diet with none of the foods you like is not going to be easy to stick to.

BubblyBarbara · 07/01/2021 20:56

In the good old days we only used to eat at meal times and eating a snack when you're playing with your child would be considered rude

Gwenhwyfar · 07/01/2021 20:58

"Cheese is very high in fat even the low fat ones and if you need to lose weight it's the last thing you should eat."

Oh dear. There's no rule that you can't eat cheese if you want to lose weight. I've always eaten a lot of cheese including when on a slimming diet and to maintain my weight. Cheese and veg makes a good diet meal.

Well, I think it's very healthy to have a balance diet and having 30g of stilton/comte/Emmenthal with a cracker and an apple isn't unhealthy...
toocold54 · 07/01/2021 21:01

Think it may be a case of dammed either way.

I agree with this.

If he had got you the food you would have probably moaned that he’s ruined your diet.

Candyfloss99 · 07/01/2021 21:02

If you've told him you're on a diet then of course he's not going to bring you an unhealthy snack.

toocold54 · 07/01/2021 21:02

Cheese is very high in fat even the low fat ones and if you need to lose weight it's the last thing you should eat

Half of the diets you do will say never eat cheese and the other half will encourage them.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 07/01/2021 21:05

Ffs. Today I have just an apple for snack and now I want cheese😂😂😂

As I said, you can eat ANYTHING on a slimming diet as long as you're not eating too many calories overall.

Ooh I’ve remembered I’ve got some Roquefort in the fridge.

😑 share or shhhhh
AnneLovesGilbert · 07/01/2021 21:08

Did you have dinner?

ApolloandDaphne · 07/01/2021 21:09

My DH asked me for a glass of wine yesterday and I said to him that I thought we were doing dry January and refused. He agreed I was right and that sometimes we had to be supportive of reach other by NOT doing as requested. I think OPs DH was just trying to help her.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 07/01/2021 21:09

😂 sorry. Roquefort is healthy too as it’s mostly mould Grin

Oh, you controlling arsehole😂 Who made you a drink police😁
TrailingLobelias · 07/01/2021 21:12

I'd love if my partner supported my weight loss efforts! He says I just need to exercise and brings treats home all the time.

Cheeseboardandmincepies · 07/01/2021 21:12

YABU. That’s not a snack, that’s like a lunch time thing.

Brefugee · 07/01/2021 21:16

blimey, OP, there's no way he could win here. He brings you a snack, you moan later about not losing weight. He doesn't bring you a snack and he's mean.

Get your own snack. And if you were so hungry that you couldn't wait and finish whatever the mystery child-related activity was - hand child to DH and get yourself a snack.

FWIW: if one of us is in the kitchen making a drink or a snack we always ask if anyone else wants something. It's hideously rude not to.
