To be peed off with Tesco

My Tesco delivery was today. I had until 11.45pm last night to edit my order. I successfully placed my order at 10.30pm and received the order confirmation email. This morning only half a dozen items were delivered, which are the items I put in the basket last week when I booked the slot. Nothing I added yesterday has arrived.

I called to complain and there’s a recorded message saying due to technical issues if you added items to an order yesterday it wasn’t saved and you won’t be charged for the missing items. No offer of a replacement delivery. I can’t book a replacement delivery because there are no slots for weeks. No click and collect slots either. It’s literally the first day of lockdown and the first day of shielding, and god knows how many people haven’t received their food.

@MissBaskinIfYoureNasty
Lol I’m not actually moaning 😂
I’m just curious is all 🤷‍♀️
And I don’t have an opinion bout anyone going into a supermarket I can’t judge people if I don’t know their circumstances...,.,,

Londontown12 · 05/01/2021 16:00

@Givemeabreak88 no I wouldn’t I don’t take any notice of anybody I do my shopping lol not looking at who taking who to the supermarket I actually think these comments are quiet funny 😆

User27aw · 05/01/2021 16:10

I have a delivery due today I had a text this morning telling of the system problems. I amended my order last night the website was working fine and got an email confirmation with the changes. But my order is showing on the website without the changes. Luckily i recently realised you could add previous delivery to your basket and check out and then amend later i always used to just add one item and amended the night before.

Clarich007 · 05/01/2021 16:12

I had an Asda delivery yesterday, 7 substitutionsall fine, but what did havee scratching my head in puzzlement was my order of Encore cat food.Had ordered 2 cases which is 2x5x50gm pouches.They sent me 2 individual pouches One chicken and one fish, still charged me £6 though ! 😃

slashlover · 05/01/2021 16:13

Could you try Iceland if they deliver to you? I did an order last night and it will be delivered tomorrow. It's a smaller range than Tesco but they still do the basics.

Bookworming · 05/01/2021 16:13

I dont think supermarkets had placeholder orders in mind when they set up their delivery systems...rather they thought perhaps the amendment function could be for that last minute order of bread, or mince. Not suddenly changing 3 bottles of gin to a full weekly shop.

Well they should've learnt by now!

OP, they just can't deliver as they've no slots, it's shit but can't be helped.

Do you know anyone that can add some items to their order for you?

Marilla1966 · 05/01/2021 16:20

It also happened to me today. I went to pick up my click and collect at 7.30am and they gave me 3 bottles of gin. They had already had 3 people before me whose basket had not updated last night. I rang up immediately and the lady I spoke to said it affected approximately 50,000 people across the country. They offered me another slot in a weeks time but I already have one for then.

It could've been worse, you could've filled it with fresh veg or plant food!

@Hairobsessed123

Just out of curiosity who here absolutely has to get their shopping delivered and cannot go to their local supermarket because of shielding ect ? Because in my mind if your ok and safe to go supermarket why don’t u leave the slits for delivery for those that actually need them (just my opinion)
My opinion too. It feels really wrong that people who are capable of doing their own shopping are monopolising the delivery slots.
Peanutbutterblood · 05/01/2021 16:25

This happened to me in December, they brought 10 bananas and tried to charge me for the under £40 spend. I didnt kick up a fuss but did ask to be refunded the £4 as it wasnt my fault. I was kind and figured technical issues cant be helped but this happened to me 4 weeks ago so they should have it fixed by now

msby · 05/01/2021 16:26

Called Tesco and they have offered us a click and collect for 2 days time, refunded the charges and offered a voucher as an apology. It’s not solved tonight’s dinner but it’s worth a call if anyone else is stuck (I am a vulnerable customer)

Bookworming · 05/01/2021 16:28

So how would you police that @VinylDetective? How would you ensure that slots only went to people capable of not doing their own shopping?

I love these "but you shouldn't do that" nonsense, when it can't be policed!

I've
had an annual pass for three years! So am I more entitled! No it's first come first served!

Peanutbutterblood · 05/01/2021 16:29

@vinylDectective everyone has the same opportunity to reserve slots and most supermarkets still have priority slots for the vulnerable so I dont see the problem.

If I can book a weekly slot 4 weeks in advance vulnerable people can to

HUCKMUCK · 05/01/2021 16:40

I put changes through last night and they are showing up on the app. Does that mean I might be ok?

NotSorry · 05/01/2021 16:40

@IliveonCoffee

I wonder if there are now so little slots because everyone has done just what you have and held the basket with a handful of items, only to amend at the last minute...

Technical issues happen but why should someone lose out on their delivery because they've done exactly what you have.

As for people losing out on food, well it sound like its only going to be those that waited until the last minute...

Unless you think they should be cancelling these place holder orders....?

I dont think supermarkets had placeholder orders in mind when they set up their delivery systems...rather they thought perhaps the amendment function could be for that last minute order of bread, or mince. Not suddenly changing 3 bottles of gin to a full weekly shop.

Then they should make the checkout time earlier in the day if they don’t want people to put place holder orders in
LindaEllen · 05/01/2021 16:41

It's so shit but please don't phone anyone at Tesco and kick off at them. At least you have the luxury of online shopping whereas they're having to mix with other people on a daily basis to make sure you get your things.

Nobody can help a website issue, it's nobody's fault, and they also can't magic up a delivery slot out of thin air for you.

It's a lose lose situation.

I hope you can get what you need, either from elsewhere, from a family member, or perhaps go later tonight when it's quiet.

Cyw2018 · 05/01/2021 16:49

I've got 4 X 6 pints of milk in my basket for tomorrow morning. I always meal plan and full basket on Tuesday evening. Looks like a trip to Tesco for me tomorrow!!

You should amend your basket, it was probably just a one off problem last night for deliveries today.
GabsAlot · 05/01/2021 17:07

oh not good ive got a delivery coming tomorrow hopefully will all be there

GabsAlot · 05/01/2021 17:10

it actually states on their grocery page

no time to do a full shop then just add a couple of items and come back later-so they encourage it

GeordieGreigsButtButtZoom · 05/01/2021 17:27

You should be giving any and all key workers you see the clap.

I think we've got enough infection spreading around.

Rosebel · 05/01/2021 17:45

It doesn't say do an entire shop just before the cut off time though does it?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 05/01/2021 17:50

complain by tweet - they'll take a lot more notice

Whammyyammy · 05/01/2021 18:08

How awful for you, how will you cope Flowers

NotSorry · 05/01/2021 18:15

@Rosebel

If they’re going to give a cut off point that’s when it can be done by - if they want it earlier they should make it earlier
