To think this might be the end of the Tory party?

I’m not a Tory voter but do you think being known as he party “that stole Christmas” is going to finish off the conservatives?

So much faffing and changing of direction - how will anyone trust them again?

One can only hope!!!!

myhobbyisouting · 20/12/2020 01:12

If only

Umbridge34 · 20/12/2020 01:15

I doubt it. The economic crisis that will come out of the pandemic and brexit will likely be the worst this country has ever seen... and many people believe Labour cannot be trusted with the economy.

We can keep dreaming though... they've never had, nor will they ever get, my vote.

MichelleScarn · 20/12/2020 01:15

As long as is also the end of the snp too, bring it on!

pinbinpin · 20/12/2020 01:16

I hope so but they are pretty teflon. Having said that, even some life long Tories I know have dropped the party line about how great they are and I'm hearing a lot of "he thinks he still at Eton".

Not sure what anyone else could or would have done differently but at least the ego and personal agenda might not have been so rife - he was still banging on a about world-beating today! Something about we're the best at tracking genome changes in viruses and no-one else could have spotted this new strain - pathetic. He's starting to sound like Trump a few weeks back.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 20/12/2020 01:17

With any luck

HermannlovesPauline · 20/12/2020 01:17

I wonder if he wishes Theresa was still in the job

The Italians also imposed stricter rules today for Christmas.

No, it's not the end of the Tories, and I don't think anyone else would have managed any better. Starmer isn't a scientist either, so he too would be reliant on the experts

It's all very well moaning, but a balance has to be struck between lives, the economy, the spread of the virus, new info from Porton Down etc. If the PM reacts too early, he gets criticised; if too late in some opinions, he gets criticised - what do you want him to do?

Ha ha ha!

Another 'the Tories are just so evil' posts while conveniently omitting the fact that what they have just done is what Kier Starmer and the Labour party have been clamouring for since Wednesday.

Seventytwo · 20/12/2020 01:21

The end of Boris, yes. The end of the Tories? No, sadly. Far too many bigots in this country for that!

Jamiefraserskilt · 20/12/2020 01:21

Ffs, boris did not steal Christmas. A virus combined with people not following guidelines is what changed Christmas. New rules out and social media is crammed with people trying to adjust the rules to suit their personal requirements.
The virus is spread by people.
I guarantee those moaning the most are those who chose to adapt the rules and then wonder why they are in a tier 4 when the next town along is in tier 2.
Stop waiting to be told what to do and just do it.

feelingverylazytoday · 20/12/2020 01:23

Don't be ridiculous. This will be forgotten about in a few months when most people are safely vaccinated.

Covidnomore · 20/12/2020 01:24

I don't blame them for this..........

Now every other funking thing Angry

ViciousJackdaw · 20/12/2020 01:24

Now wouldn't that be good! The Grinch who stole Christmas. I shall remember them as the party who had to be shamed into feeding hungry children by a footballer. As for Theresa, sometimes I wish she was still in the job. Don't get me wrong, I cannot abide Tories but at least she could run a comb through her hair. Plus, she sometimes wore nice beads.

Spot on.
Crystalclair · 20/12/2020 01:26

I hope not. Yeah, they've mess up on some things - but no more or less than ANY other government would have.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.
They will still get my vote.

DBML · 20/12/2020 01:26

Hopefully the end of Mark Drakeford though, come the May election.

HermannlovesPauline · 20/12/2020 01:27

I’m not a Tory hater - I think they are probably doing their best considering the circumstances - kier starmer is a slimey twat too. I just wondered what the masses would think?

Who do you think will get in at the next election?

OP posts:
ChestnutStuffing · 20/12/2020 01:29

I think probably not.

Lots of people are unhappy about how things have been managed, but many also do not have much feeling that the LP would have been significantly better. So it doesn't tend to push them in that direction.

And many people don't really blame the government anyway. They "blame" the virus.

PhatPhanny · 20/12/2020 01:29

I didnt vote tory, but seriously, did I miss them riding round spreading the virus?

Noted 🙄

Impatiens · 20/12/2020 01:38

This cabinet is incompetent and dishonest but, tragically, there's no one else credible to vote for at the moment. The best we can hope is that they'll turf Bozo out as soon as possible and find someone less chaotic to steer the country through this Brexit/Covid nightmare.

MrsPeacockInTheLibrary · 20/12/2020 01:41

I don't see why it would. People vote conservative by a comfortable majority. As things currently stand, Labour does not stand a chance of being in government for at least two more elections, if then.

Smallgoon · 20/12/2020 01:42

fingers crossed

Googlebrained · 20/12/2020 01:45

No because people have short memories, vote in their own self interest and many people actually voted for Nigel Farage.

Sobeyondthehills · 20/12/2020 01:48

I live in a safe seat for the Tory's and this is the first time I have seen people saying they will never vote for the Tory party again.

But no, I don't think this is going to be the end of the Tory party, if people can honestly keep voting for them when they have continued to slash budgets for schools, benefits, NHS. Have made using food banks as an alternative to feeding families and are fine with children being homeless and living in poverty and they are pissed because they are now curtailed over Christmas because of a virus, there is very little hope.
