This is 1st Christmas with me and DP staying at home, so I suggested we could get pyjamas & chill, but DP wasn't keen on my idea.... which made me wonder - if you stay at home on Christmas Day, do you put on nice clothes and dress up, or stay in PJs?

Yabu= dress up
yanbu= pyjamas

@didireallysaythat I buy a new dress some years, not others. It’s not a special specific Christmas dress, it’s just a new dress I’ll wear for the first time on Christmas Day. It’ll then be my Sunday best/church dress/smart outfit for most of the rest of the year, until it gets relegated from smart to every day wear. And by dress I don’t mean ballgown, I mean tunic/sweater dress/something I can wear with tights or leggings. The smartness is mostly in the newness.

Single parent with children unable to buy presents for me independently, so nice new dress is my treat for myself when I’m shopping for them and for everyone else.

@SilenceOfThePrams sounds like you've got it sussed - apologies if I came across as critical.

I'm not a dress person as I have no occasions on which I need to wear a dress. I see all these sequin things sold at Christmas and I can't figure out where else people wear them. They're not work clothes and not something I'd wear at home. That said, I only wore my wedding dress once, so I can make an exception....

‘Slobbing around’ not just ‘festering’ now in pyjamas. 🤣 Is it not possible to just ‘wear’ pyjamas instead of festering or slobbing around? How odd. 🤪

I look all right in my pj's. Not everyone looks like Daisy & Onslow.

I have however, purchased a new jumper, jeans and boots for the day. I will also be wearing a nice pair of pj's later on.
