Someone else’s KNICKERS down the sofa - balance of possibilities?

This incident happened a few years ago but DH recently reminded me of it .

A pair of skimpy black knickers was found by me stuffed down the side of the sofa. I’m pretty thorough on cleaning and regularly wiped down and hoovered down the sides of said (leather) sofa so they couldn’t have been there long. Sofa was quite new and bought new not secondhand.

We’d recently had our DC’s birthday party.

DH’s ‘suggestion’ was that they had dropped out of one of DC’s friend’s mothers handbags while they were sitting there waiting for party to finish. Possibly no more than 10 minutes. Would you not notice that a pair of knickers had fallen out of your handbag while sitting on a sofa though? How much moving around would you have to do to get them wedged down the side of the sofa?

The number of times my wallet and the remote controls disappear into the depths of my sofa I can believe not noticing something has disappeared in a sofa ... I spend half my life extracting my phone, wallet and the remotes from the gaps..

To be fair though, if I was having an affair my knickers probably would be black and skimpy rather than the beige Bridget Jones-esque I am currently sporting.

My thought would be that someone had worn trousers from the dirty washing and they did that really embarrassing thing of waiting until you're in company to fall out the bottom of your trouser leg, so someone discreetly picked them up and tucked them down the side, probably meaning to take them with them when they could discreetly put their handbag nearby

If knickers fall out of handbags chances are they’ll just be lying around not shoved down the side of the sofa.

@muddledmidget or clean ones not separated before washing, and clean clothes grabbed off the airer with clean pants in one leg. Have done that before...

How old were DC?
If young Maybe one of them? Young kids are weird. My 2 year old carries around her knickers! (Not used yet, as potty training has failed so far). Or maybe knickers caught in someone's jumper or cardie in wash without them noticing, then they took the top off and put it on the sofa and knickers came off. Could've happened with kids or grown-ups.

Could dh have recently mentioned them to see if you really did fall for his suggestion and he is home and dry so to speak?

To be fair, I once had a spare pair of black pants fall out of my bag at a friend's house when I got something else out of my bag. Her teenage son found them. I keep spares due to heavy periods and mine are black and lacy but def not sexy to me. So it IS possible.

I have never in my life had sex and then left my knickers at the sex location because I unaccountably forgot to put them on afterwards. Is this really a normal thing?

Otoh I have had knickers fall out of my trouser leg once or twice.

Single person here, I have found mystery knickers in the flat I lived in alone. They weren't black and skimpy though, they were tiny football-patterned kids underpants... Still have absolutely no clue 🤷🏻‍♀️

She's not marking that hard if she stuffed them down the back of the sofa.

I think that someone who has shares in MN goes around hiding random knickers in people's houses and cars so that users have something to post about.

They probably also shout a people who park in parent and child spaces even though they don't have children.

I've never been the OW, but I could imagine a mistress, who wants the wife to find out, bringing a spare pair of knickers to the house and leaving them there. Leaving hints.

I once found a pair of giant old Matalan cotton Apple catchers in the shower tray after I’d been away for the weekend.

I realised that the relationship was utterly over as I found myself musing whether they were his or some random but either way, I didn’t care.

I didn’t even bother mentioning it and just broke up with him shortly afterwards.

There’s a myriad of obscure ways that another woman’s knickers could end up in your house though, so I guess it depends on what your DH is like, whether there’s been opportunity and if you trust him. It’s not great though!

I’ve never found another woman’s knickers before or since that one occasion, nor with any other partner or property. Plus they were discarded sodden in the shower 😅🤣! So context matters...
