My 14yo does this most days through choice tbh!

Assuming they were waiting for a COVID test and trying to avoid passing it on to the rest of the family, not unreasonable

Many 14yo (including mine)would enjoy self isolating like that.

This is from a report about people who were wrongly told they were covid positive because of faulty test chemicals.

Better than spreading it to the whole family, who then passes it on to other people, them to their family, etc etc etc

Impossible to tell without any context. If they were waiting for a covid test presumably they had to be at home anyway. Given they were 14 not 4 they might have been more than happy to stay in their room.

I agree, he had to stay home anyway so why not just be in contact with her, he would still have to isolate for the same length of time if she got a positive test. Seems like they didn't really think it through. Unless there's someone seriously vulnerable in the house.

We know a family who's daughter self isolated in her bedroom for 14 days as she had been on holiday with her father and upon returning to the blended family home they needed to protect the other vulnerable daughter.

It hasn't scarred her for life

Literally nowhere in your quote or in the link that another poster helpfully provided, does it say it was done to the child.

At 14 she's perfectly capable of deciding to stay in her room for fear of infecting her family.

I would have loved to spend two weeks in my room as a fourteen year old.

Assuming it was the result of a covid test not the result of a pregnancy test it's fine. I'd rather stay in my bedroom for four days than pass it on to my family. Imagine how a 14 year old would feel if they passed it to their sibling or parent who then died from it. Not their fault obviously but they'd feel so guilty.

It was only 4 days anyway, not two weeks.

Most families are self isolating their teens this way if they can. I’m assuming she still went to the bathroom.
