I think it would be really sweet and bring the country together if we played this US vietnam war era psy ops soundtrack at 3AM in the streets everynight

Angel2702 · 03/11/2020 14:05

We will be doing it. It’s a couple of mins fun for the kids during a pretty shit Christmas. Mine like looking out for the sleigh on Christmas Eve but the International Space Station won’t be flying by on Christmas Eve this year.

Mascaramademehappy · 03/11/2020 14:21

Awww what a load of BahHumbugs on this thread! What harm can it do? Little ones have a bit of extra excitement after what’s been a really weird year.

ramblingsonthego · 03/11/2020 14:42

Cor there are some miserable buggers on this thread. Its like someone has pissed on your Christmas Dinner.

We will be taking part for our 3 year old. Its for like 2 minutes on Christmas eve and will be lovely.

Fluffybutter · 03/11/2020 14:49

Nah .
Didn’t clap and I’m sure as hell not ringing a bell .

Londonmummy66 · 03/11/2020 15:37

Would be lovely if it was just all the Church bells but not a general racket. Having said that the Olympic bell ring in 2012 was quite good fun.

lazyfecker · 03/11/2020 16:25

@Flavabobble

I've trained the cat to come for his food at the ringing of a bell - he's going to be a bit confused, or think all his Christmases have come at once (See what I did there?)

Santa, not seen once during this pandemic. Has certainly not earned himself a bell ring.

JK, we'll be joining in. Esp if the pub is closed. Our cul de sac is really sociable so it'll be nice.

VettiyaIruken · 03/11/2020 17:01

I won't be doing it. My kids are in their 20's and they'd think I'd gone nuts 😁
But yes, if they were little then why the hell not? This year has been really tough and it would be nice to do something a bit fun with small children. I don't see why that's such a bad thing.

Laiste · 03/11/2020 17:03

Skimmed thread -
So where is this idea coming from? I've heard nothing about it till this thread.

Laiste · 03/11/2020 17:04

< lives under rock doesn't use FB>

Laiste · 03/11/2020 17:04

that's better :)

5foot5 · 03/11/2020 17:21

I will proceed with caution.

I remember there being a similar idea for the start of the Olympics, or the start of the running with the flame or something like that. The instruction was to ring a bell or make a similar noise outside your house at 8 am. I grabbed my biggest saucepan and a metal spoon and ran out of the house on to the drive making as much noise as I could. Then looked up and down the street to see who else was joining in.... Nobody! There was just a very startled looking passer-by who hastily crossed to the other side of the road.

housemdwaswrong · 03/11/2020 17:36

@5foot5 funny as. Much needed laugh.

Must have been absolutely mortifying.

lioncitygirl · 03/11/2020 17:59

No. No no no no! Not this! Gahhhhhh.

PhilSwagielka · 03/11/2020 18:36

Anyone else thinking of The Polar Express?

NetflixWatcher · 03/11/2020 18:39

Not in this house.

thisyearsuckssofar · 04/11/2020 19:41

It's a lovely idea. This year has been gloomy enough so I want every bit of joy I can get. My DS is a bit old for it now, but I'm going to ring a bell and listen to all the other bells being jingled by excited little children.

myhobbyisouting · 04/11/2020 20:41

I feel this needs to be in bold home bargains have jingle bells for £1.99 Grin

Twilightstarbright · 04/11/2020 20:44

I've ordered a bell especially for this.

Holothane · 04/11/2020 20:44

Ffs no won’t be doing it.

GenevaL · 04/11/2020 20:50

What a load of guff. Sick of this shit now.

Brown76 · 04/11/2020 20:52

No, Bell ringing and elf on a shelf can bog off! We have our own Christmas ‘traditions’ and we’re 6 years deep into the Santa lie now and the kids will want to know how santa managed to deliver the gifts last year when we didn’t ring any bells.

Daphnise · 04/11/2020 20:55

A very silly idea, and will not be followed by anyone of intelligence.

myhobbyisouting · 04/11/2020 20:57

It's easy to answer kids questions about Santa though @Brown76

You just say "I don't know, it's magic isn't it?" Wink
