For not making the bed

rosesareredxxx · 01/11/2020 22:31

I never make my bed and neither does hubby. Whoever gets out last just takes the cover off themselves, gets up and ready and on with the day. Are we tramps for doing this? Lol

Also does anyone else not make their bed?

I guess I figure no one comes into our bedroom and we are both too lazy to do it 😂

Each to their own.. I personally couldn't ever not make my bed.. But an ex work colleague of mine used to say why would I make my bed when I'm just getting back in it 😂

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 01/11/2020 22:34

I used to make it straight away but then saw something in a magazine that said it's better to let the mattress air a bit, so now it's pulled down to the foot of the bed while we both shower, breakfast, get dressed, then whoever is last to leave makes the bed an hour or two after we get up.

ItsNotPinkItsSalmon · 01/11/2020 22:35

I couldn't get in an unmade bed! Feels weird. Grin

GhostCurry · 01/11/2020 22:35

As above. You’re supposed to air it.

It does look depressing AF to come back to the bedroom hours later and find a bed in disarray as you describe, OP.

Sparklesocks · 01/11/2020 22:36

You’re adults, you can do what you like in your home. I personally feel cosier getting into a made bed, maybe it’s just psychological but it feels better.

rottiemum88 · 01/11/2020 22:38

Seems quite trampy to me, but I don't have to live in your home or sleep in your bed so each to their own 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bidl · 01/11/2020 22:39

I leave my bedroom door open, so I make my bed and lay decorative cushions. I would be terribly embarrassed if anyone saw my unmade bed! I also think it’s nice to get into a bed that’s made.

dementedpixie · 01/11/2020 22:39

I make the duvet look tidier but that's as far as my making the bed goes

ozymandiusking · 01/11/2020 22:39

I always air my bed. Pull the duvet back, give the pillows a good shake, and smooth the bottom sheet.
When I went to work, I would leave it like that all day, and just put the duvet back when I got in and went upstairs to get changed.

Lennie16 · 01/11/2020 22:40

I feel it’s just lazy, untidy bed, untidy mind.

LuckyAmy1986 · 01/11/2020 22:40

You’re not supposed to make it, it needs air. Look it up!

Mumsnut · 01/11/2020 22:40

I air mine, pulling the duvet back
Neatly over itself, squaring the corners and plumping pillows

But sometimes it never gets any further than that

LuckyAmy1986 · 01/11/2020 22:40

It’s actually quite trampy to make it

HeddaGarbled · 01/11/2020 22:42

How do you ‘make’ a bed with a duvet? Don’t you just pull it straight?

HelloDulling · 01/11/2020 22:42

Never do mine. There’s usually also a pile of clean clothes on the end of the bed, which I leave when I get into bed.

Iggly · 01/11/2020 22:44

I air the bed. DH used to make it as soon as we got up but I preferred to turn the covers down so he’s now given up.

Then I’ll make it before bedtime.

ItsNotPinkItsSalmon · 01/11/2020 22:44

@LuckyAmy1986

You’re not supposed to make it, it needs air. Look it up!
You're also meant to air your privates but I don't think many people walk around going commando. You seem a bit ruffled by other people's posts. If you don't make it that's your decision but calm down a bit.
doodleygirl · 01/11/2020 22:44

I air my bed for a few hours with the window open and then make it

SchrodingersImmigrant · 01/11/2020 22:45

Dustmites LOVE warmth and humid.
If you make the bed straight away, you just preserve the perfect environment for them.

I don't do mine, make sure window gets opened so it all cools down and airs.

Can't wait for freeze to put my duvets out!

nicerbeing · 01/11/2020 22:45

I'm a tramp Grin

But seriously? Trampy Hmm

ItsNotPinkItsSalmon · 01/11/2020 22:46

I assume when people don't make the bed they also don't change the covers.
That is my opinion and just how I view it.

LuckyAmy1986 · 01/11/2020 22:46

@ItsNotPinkItsSalmon ruffled?! Isn’t this all lighthearted? Was it the trampy that made you think I was “ruffled”?!!! I was saying it in a jokey way as someone upthread said it was trampy not to! So unruffled here...

LuckyAmy1986 · 01/11/2020 22:47

I’ve been told to calm down....wow

LuckyAmy1986 · 01/11/2020 22:48

@ItsNotPinkItsSalmon are you ok? You seem a bit bothered by the fact some people don’t make their beds. Chill out hun

Gatehouse77 · 01/11/2020 22:48

We fold the duvet back to air it and that’s how it stays! Mostly because, at times, it’s been difficult to do with a bedside cot or table being in the way and do got out of the habit. I couldn’t leave it as it was getting out of bed - it’s a half way compromise!

Kids used to make their beds but don’t any more. I shut their doors so I can’t see it. Along with the open wardrobe, washing not put away or in the laundry basket. 😖
