A group on facebook that I'm in.

Have never been accused of transphobia before and like to think I'm a tolerant and inclusive person. Quite socked and wondering if I am in the wrong here?

Clearly, I'm now close from being banned from the group. Just for context, it's a writing group.

Sexual development disorders are not proof of a 3rd sex or that there are only 2 sexes. Genitals are sexed.

Why do they hide behind 'numerous other factors' as if they are understood and accepted? Are they saying someone with both male and female genitalia can have a baby?

I'm sorry you've been woked on. It happened to me a while ago and I had to leave a lot of sewing groups. There were some really sick individuals on some of them, clearly getting off on women being made to validate their fetishes.

You can't win. Wherever you go they will turn up eventually. The best you can hope for is that if you state your case calmly, a few people will actually read and understand. One by one, the numbers will increase.

It still pisses me off though, I just wanted to talk about the bloody sewing!

"Speaking as an HCP" can mean almost anything OP. They might have worked as an HCA for a month 10 years ago, they might work supporting people with disabilities in their homes, anything. I'll bet my life this person has never met a person with differences of sexual development (intersex is actually quite an out of date and, to many, offensive term), much less studied their conditions. More likely she'll have seen a meme on Reddit saying something 20% true and now she thinks she's an expert. Even money says she has no real experience with medical science post "9th grade". Speaking myself as someone who has actually been to medical school and studied genetics and DSD conditions in detail, you're right, she's wrong, and it's not transphobic to say so. Now get on over to FWR so you can see how not alone you are.

The 'health professional' is probably a physio or an OT, not someone with specialist knowledge about biological sex. I was told I was 'dripping with transphobia' when I said that people shouldn't criticise J K Rowling's latest book before they've actually read it.

Intersex advocacy groups have repeatedly asked for people with DSD's to be left out if the trans debate, the two issues are not related. You are correct that gender identity and biological sex are two different things.

I darent mention this to my writer friends - one is full on TWAW, another just wants to "be kind", one has a young trans rellie (MTF naturally - as always I find myself thinking "in an increasingly pornified, barbie-fied world where men literally get away with murder by claiming sex game gone wrong, and rape is effectively decriminalised, why is no one making the obvious connection as to why young women might want to identify out of womanhood?")

I do not understand how such a small percentage of the population is causing so much upset. My advise is not take notice and leave that group. Probably easy for me to say because I do not work in a place where people are oppressed from their opinions. Do not have to be force to take unbiased courses or any of the things they try to make you do these days. Even if you are not even remotely bothered about other peoples race or gender but their character.
