To think this is too big an age gap?

22 year old female and 29 year old male. I think they're at 2 different stages of their lives and surely very different maturity levels. AIBU?

It’s absolutely fine Hmm

Clawdy · 21/10/2020 20:11

Doesn't sound remotely a problem to me.That is not a large age gap.

Francescaisstressed · 21/10/2020 20:12

It entirely depends on the people in the relationship/maturity levels etc. I know 29 year olds who still live with their parents and never had a real job and 22 year olds who've worked full time for years and have kids.
I don't think age should be that much of an issue, and if it is they'll have to work that out for themselves no good passing an opinion.

EdmundElephantIsACleverClogs · 21/10/2020 20:12

Yabu, I don't see anything at all wrong with that.

Betty94 · 21/10/2020 20:12

I mean no not really, my mum was 19 and my dad was 50 so I was expecting to see something as bad as that GrinGrin if two consenting adults want to be together then it's whatever

AFlockOfKnots · 21/10/2020 20:13

Backstory in the "two different stages" so let's wait and see what OP posts next.

BojoKilledMyMojo · 21/10/2020 20:13

It isn't too big a gap at all.

From the way you've written your post I assume you aren't one of the two people, in which case its absolutely none of your business either.

tiredybear · 21/10/2020 20:14

eh, what? My mum and dad have an 8 year age gap..married over 50years, met when she was early 20s, he late 20s.

I started a relationship with my OH when I was 19, 8 year age gap, still together 21 years later.

If you are both adults, age is just a number.

ExclamationPerfume · 21/10/2020 20:14

Different stages? They are 7 years apart which is hardly anything.

OHappyDay · 21/10/2020 20:15

It’s fine in my opinion, I was 22 when I met my husband and he was 29 and we’re still together 10 years later. We’ve been happily married for the past 5 years with a nearly 4 year old little boy.

Brighterthansunflowers · 21/10/2020 20:16

YABU

They might be at different stages. But two 29 year olds might be at totally different stages as well.

They’re both adults and capable of making their own decisions so keep out of their business

SimplyRadishing · 21/10/2020 20:16

I think you aren't necessarily wrong BUT it does depend on lifestage.
I know 29 year old that act like 22 year olds
But it's probably not your place if you arent 1 of the 2

MirandaGoshawk · 21/10/2020 20:17

Is it your DD? Have you met the BF? It depends on the individuals. It can just be a bit of fun, can't it - doesn't have to be serious?

Meepmeeep · 21/10/2020 20:17

What’s your interest in this? It’s only a 7 year age gap between adults 🤷🏻‍♀️

feministfemme · 21/10/2020 20:17

If everyone is a consenting adult then there's no harm IMO. Why do you think it's too big?

jennie0412 · 21/10/2020 20:17

It is absolutely none of yours nor our business what 2 grown adults do in their free time Confused

Oysterbabe · 21/10/2020 20:18

Completely fine and normal.

LST · 21/10/2020 20:18

Are you being serious?

Lulu1919 · 21/10/2020 20:18

My daughter and husband have a 13 year age gap ...they got married a few weeks ago and you wouldn't even think there was a gap at all.
She is 27 very mature and has always worked hard and lived independently from us since she was 19 .

ohidoliketobe · 21/10/2020 20:19

I was expecting 22 and 69.
7 years isn't an age gap tbh. Born in the same decade.

Not atall, I have a friend who is in a relationship with the same age difference, they are both at the same stage in their life and having a child.

Anyone at any age can be in any "stage" in their life. Not all people in their early twenties want to party all the time and not all people in their late twenties/early thirties want to settle down.

Snackasaurus · 21/10/2020 20:20

I was 19 when I met my DH, he was 28. Fast forward and we're now in our own house, married with a baby on the way! We don't notice the difference at all Smile

CressidaTheHeathen · 21/10/2020 20:20

What?!

I met my DH at 22 when he was 36, were still together 15 years later. I was an “old” 22 with a child, mortgage and career though I suppose.
