Cauliflower is an abomination full stop!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 18/10/2020 22:39

Oh and longwayoff - don’t knock it til you’ve tried it! I made a thanksgiving meal last year and it was absolutely epic! In fact a renowned splendid cook in our family said it was a meal he’d remember for the rest of his life!! Give it a go. Marshmallows and all.

Beaverdam100 · 18/10/2020 22:42

Wow, some very strong feelings for cauliflower cheese on here. Shame on you. You dirty, dirty people.

Tell your husband he needs to LTB!

Inastatus · 18/10/2020 22:44

Cauli cheese is the best and can be eaten wherever, whenever fullstop!

Spiderbaby8 · 18/10/2020 22:44

Never seen a clearer cut YABU, cauliflower cheese belongs with everything.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/10/2020 22:45

I’m in Scotland and as a child we used to have cauliflower cheese as an evening meal if we had been out for lunch - served with hot buttered toast.

I was completely bemused when it appeared as a side on Christmas Day at MIL’s.

PatMustardsBigTool · 18/10/2020 22:45

Thanks a lot. 14 weeks pregnant and just getting my appetite back and now I need to go make cauliflower cheese at quarter to eleven on a Sunday night. I needed a warning!!! Fuming.

BrummyMum1 · 18/10/2020 22:47

Fine by itself. Put on a plate with a roast dinner - what the actual f*ck why would anyone do that!!???

Blondiney · 18/10/2020 22:48

Don't serve it with lasagna whatever you do!

GuiltyPleasure · 18/10/2020 22:48

Tonight I did a cauliflower, broccoli, leek bake with cheese sauce & extra grated cheese on top to brown. It was delicious with a slow cooked lamb shank & rosemary & garlic potatoes. Proper home comfort food!

Ellie56 · 18/10/2020 22:49

It so does belong on a roast dinner. YABVVVU

52andblue · 18/10/2020 22:49

Cauliflower cheese is delicious.
On its own or with bacon or ham if you eat meat.
Sometimes I make broccoli and cauli cheese.
Serve with crunchy roast potatoes.
but no CC with a Roast Dinner - no!

Yanbu op! Never had it. Sight and smell makes me sick. Dp eats it every day the dirty bastard.

Blondiney · 18/10/2020 22:54

I used to love cauliflower cheese until I read about forensic scientists not touching the stuff because it smells like corpses. Never really fancied it after that.

BreconBeBuggered · 18/10/2020 22:56

As a vegetarian I'm staying out of the roast dinner argument, but those who say cauliflower cheese is a meal in itself, do you literally mean you just eat that, in the same way you might with (vile) macaroni cheese?

clevername · 18/10/2020 22:57

I've always loved cauli cheese... It was a staple when I was a (fairly fussy) kid... I used to be with you about having it with roast, though. We never did in my house and when I heard that this was a thing I was horrified. I mean, what about the gravy?

But now, I'm totally converted. It's the best. A roast is deficient without it. And the cheese sauce and my (frankly, amazing) gravy mixed together is literal heaven.

So yeah, YABVVVVVU. (especially because I now want to eat some and I can't)

QueenOfPain · 18/10/2020 22:57

Cauliflower cheese is the only redeeming thing about cauliflower really.

Tillygetsit · 18/10/2020 22:58

You are the most unreasonable person ever on MN! Delicious.

Pixxie7 · 18/10/2020 22:59

Definitely belongs with any meal.

sapnupuas · 18/10/2020 23:00

100% agree with you.

I do not understand cauliflower cheese at all.

I also don't understand why everyone loves macaroni cheese, either.

JollyYellaHumberElla · 18/10/2020 23:00

YABU

Also what’s with the ‘no gravy’ rule? Why are you all trying to keep them separate on the plate? Far too much gravy+cheese angst on MN.

(Chips with cheese and gravy also delicious)

friendlycat · 18/10/2020 23:06

OMG somebody mentioned lasagne and cauliflower cheese. JUST NO. That’s seriously unhinged.

AdditionalCharacter · 18/10/2020 23:06

Someone better tell Toby Carvery then.

Bloody love the stuff, broccoli cheese is even nicer though.
