But not pursue it as it’s almost certainly very very haunted. It’s beautiful, I love it, but I just cannot cope with the number of ghosts that it looks as though it contains. AIBU?

Surely op you will login and report back the price on auction night?

Wellsbells · 10/10/2020 20:34

@Nenevalleysigns I’m not an estate agent Hmm

I'd expect at least 3 of them, sitting on those chairs in the bedroom, watching as you sleep👻

Wellsbells · 10/10/2020 20:35

@Didicat sure!

Bit near the Shepton Mallet Sewage treatment works for my liking..

Dongdingdong · 10/10/2020 20:36

It is remarkably cheap isn’t it! You have to ask yourself why! (ghosts)

The fact that it’s located on an A road is more likely to be the reason why IMO.

Also, it doesn’t look haunted in the slightest!

It's beautiful! I do hope that whoever owns it next is respectful to the original features. Lots of old houses on rightmove now just look like every other house inside Sad.

LooseMooseHoose · 10/10/2020 20:38

Doesn't look haunted at all! Far too bright and airy!

It looks to me like it might have been used as a b and b? Hence chairs in the rooms?

They will absolutely have to since it's grade 1. Any refurbishment is quite a pain in the arse on listed buildings (which is actually good because they are kept properly)
LovelyLovelyMe · 10/10/2020 20:39

Great way to publicise a lovely house. I'm sure the owners will be pleased that some random decided to do them this favour! Grin

Mollscroll · 10/10/2020 20:40

Beautiful. Stunning rooms. The desk by the window ..😍

So why start with a picture of a substandard utility area ?

LeSquigh · 10/10/2020 20:40

It is beautiful. I normally prefer modern houses but that is LOVELY.

PolkadotGiraffe · 10/10/2020 20:40

I do think it looks creepy. The only photos that made me feel happy were the ones taken outside.

Bluntness100 · 10/10/2020 20:41

@SchrodingersImmigrant

And why it’s being sold at auction. There must be a structural fault or something,,,

Rather than that it will be because it is difficult to sell. I don't know anyone sane without super deep pockets who would touch grade 1 listed. I would steer clear even of grade 2 after previous experience.

Meh, I live in a grade 2 and wouldn’t worry about a grade 1 unless structural issues. It’s as likely to be the listing as it is to be the “haunting”

This isn’t about the listing, there is something else going on with this house. It’s either the road, the sewage plant od there is a major structural issue. Houses like this don’t go to auction for no reason.

My money is on a structural issue as auction is sold often without even a survey.

Lovewinemorethanhusband · 10/10/2020 20:43

Its beautiful, i get a.Ghosty vibe and defo would not furnish it with rocking chairs!!

CloudyGladys · 10/10/2020 20:43

Rather than ghosts, is there a history of flooding?

Bluntness100 · 10/10/2020 20:44

Actually if you look at the photo angles they seem to be slanted. I’d wonder if this house has subsidence.

Mrsmadevans · 10/10/2020 20:44

Gives me the heebie jeebies, something definitely going on there . I felt really cold when looking at it.

JanewaysBun · 10/10/2020 20:44

@Aquamarine1029

Too close to the road and why do the bedrooms have so many chairs directly facing the beds? Confused
So the ghosts can watch you sleep obvs
SchrodingersImmigrant · 10/10/2020 20:45

It's that weird modern auction. They have 28 days so they can get a survey done. I am not sure if they would lose the reservation fee if they backed out due to structural issues, but it would still be cheaper anyway👀

StanfordPines · 10/10/2020 20:47

I grew up in a similar, but nowhere near as beautiful, house.
It was haunted as all fuck.
We had 10 cats who gave not a shit.

VinylDetective · 10/10/2020 20:50

It’s beautiful. Bet it goes for ££££ more than the guide price.

Madcats · 10/10/2020 20:51

Oh I know where that is!

Bits of Croscombe flooded last week after stupidly heavy rain.

That is quite a busy road, but we don't drive through there very often to feel confident it is horrid at rush hour. I wouldn't like my house to be sat as close (and I don't think there are any plans for a bypass).

I've not been to the village pub for years, but it used to be pretty good.

I wonder whether it used to be a large Airbnb or the previous owners were elderly (which excuses the ridiculous number of chairs).
