Trump - I seriously have no words

Trump, talking about COVID-19 on the news just now - “Don’t be afraid of it, don’t let it dominate you“
How fucking offensive to the millions of people who are suffering, who have died, their families, people who have lost their jobs, their livelihoods, their homes.

I don’t know why I am surprised, the man is an utter prick, but for some reason this latest sound bite has just enraged me. AIBU?

Everything he do is enraging.

romeolovedjulliet · 06/10/2020 08:40

tbh what else did you expect from a man supposedly with covid who leaves hospital to wave at people from his car before going back to hospital. anyone else in his shoes would have done a video link and had it broadcast on tv /social media. but this is trump we're talking about.

middleager · 06/10/2020 08:41

The man is pure theatre.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 06/10/2020 08:42

This is the worst possible outcome from his illness.

Akire · 06/10/2020 08:43

He’s in the top 0.0001% who have been given drugs. Million of Americans have no access to medical care as it is. It’s more than insulting. He’s still in the can kick his ass phase most people reach turning point at 7-10 days. He has mild symptoms for 5 and thinks he’s over it.

hippohector · 06/10/2020 08:48

I’m not sure I really believe he actually had it to be honest. Seems like a massive publicity stunt conveniently timed as an election strategy

OP posts:
Dasboot · 06/10/2020 08:49

I could barely watch him. It’s hard to know how to put into words how angry that show made me feel. Agree it’s the worst outcome - covid is a walk in the park so get out there and open up everything. I’m pretty confident that the cocktail of drugs he’s been given will mean he doesn’t go on to deteriorate after a week or so unlike the hundreds of thousands of US citizens that have lost their lives to this and who couldn’t access even the most basic of drugs and medical expertise.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 06/10/2020 08:52

The “I went to school” comment did my head in, like he bloody chose to get it for the experience. I suspect it will hit him hard week 2 and things will go very secretive.

Pinkglittery · 06/10/2020 08:53

Could not agree more. His ridiculous video made me so angry. There are people dying in his country because they can't afford asthma inhalers ffs and he is telling people it's nothing after being given a cocktail of cutting edge drugs?! What a despicable human being.

WilsonMilson · 06/10/2020 08:53

The man is a narcissist with an embarrassingly low intellect. Endangering the people who transported him back to the White House, removing his mask and professing this nonsense like he’s some sort of superhero?!
He’s a dangerous idiot. I believed he had Covid, but this showboating is starting to make me wonder.

I’m not sure Biden is the right man to take over the job, but he’s got to be better than this crazed imbecile.

ShebaShimmyShake · 06/10/2020 08:54

It is exactly what I expected he would say if he recovered, and being so rich in a place with commercialised healthcare, it was always likely that he would.

Babyroobs · 06/10/2020 08:55

It is absolutely beyond me how people can consider voting for him. His stupidity and arrogance is like nothing I have seen before.

Lonelycrab · 06/10/2020 08:56

I don’t think he’s faking it; lots are now testing +ve in the WH so unless that’s part of it too, it seems unlikely.

And I don’t think the cocktail of drugs will mean he walks it at all. Yesterday he felt 20 years younger he tells us. Well of course you do you’ve just been pumped to the eyeballs with steroids Hmm

How the fuck anyone can defend him when he puts all those around him at such risk, for the sake of his ego ffs.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 06/10/2020 08:56

Annoyingly, he will probably be feeling superior to Boris Johnson in his macho handling of the virus and, worse, superior to those who have succumbed to it.

Sunnydayhere · 06/10/2020 08:57

I wasn’t one of those who wished death on him. I’m not like that.

But some serious discomfort and illness, with a visibly slow recovery would help millions of Americans.

As others have written his dismissal of events does not help others.

I hope the two secret service men who drove the car on his ‘see the fans trip’ don’t fall ill - and if they do have the same level of medical care he had aimed at them.

Savemyusername · 06/10/2020 08:57

It’s quite unbelievable isn’t it? I can’t work out the timescale and how he or his doctors can be sure he has made such a miraculously quick recovery.

MarshaBradyo · 06/10/2020 08:58

Me too. It annoys me from far away.

Wish he’d go away.

LunaNorth · 06/10/2020 08:58

@middleager

The man is pure theatre.
Yeah, a clapped out, end of the pier show. Featuring Jim Davidson and The Black and White Minstrels. And a stripper.
MarshaBradyo · 06/10/2020 08:59

Plus it’s working - average people on R4 talking about how their leader can beat anything

LunaNorth · 06/10/2020 09:01

@OutwiththeOutCrowd

Annoyingly, he will probably be feeling superior to Boris Johnson in his macho handling of the virus and, worse, superior to those who have succumbed to it.
He’ll probably call them ‘losers’, like the soldiers who died in combat.
Threetoone · 06/10/2020 09:02

@hippohector I agree about the publicity stunt, no one is talking about his tax returns and his disgraceful behaviour at the debate with Biden now.

AlternativePerspective · 06/10/2020 09:04

I don’t believe for a second that he actually had COVID, but even in the event he did, he is just completely irresponsible.

And I would bet that he will use this to withdraw support for Americans on the basis that it’s just nothing to worry about... Hmm

I actually question the intelligence of people who vote for him, in the same way I question the intelligence of the kinds of people who vote for the likes of Nigel Farage and previously Nick Griffin.

AmandaHoldensLips · 06/10/2020 09:06

I've spent quite a lot of time in the US and have absolutely no intention of going back if I can help it. It's a scary, scary place. Make no mistake - they might speak a version of English, but that's as far as the similarities go.

MarshaBradyo · 06/10/2020 09:07

He’s someone who’d do and say anything to win, so I reckon it could be a stunt.

The messaging and how it looks have been so tightly manipulated for maximum impact.

AlternativePerspective · 06/10/2020 09:07

And while I certainly don’t condone wishing anyone dead, I think that if he doesn’t have it then I hope he catches it, and if he does have it I hope that he is ill enough at least to rethink what he’s saying to people. After all, even with flu you can be fairly unpleasantly unwell without actually ending up with long-term health problems, so that level of illness would suffice, where he can’t leave his bed for a number of weeks.

And the BBC should stop reporting on him and giving him yet another platform.
