Trump - I seriously have no words

Trump, talking about COVID-19 on the news just now - “Don’t be afraid of it, don’t let it dominate you“
How fucking offensive to the millions of people who are suffering, who have died, their families, people who have lost their jobs, their livelihoods, their homes.

I don’t know why I am surprised, the man is an utter prick, but for some reason this latest sound bite has just enraged me. AIBU?

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

One of the messages in Canada is 'be kind, be calm and be safe'

I feel like that was Canada's national motto way back before Covid Grin

Ha ha. True. I think of them a bit like Father Ted.
Trump - I seriously have no words
blueberrypie0112 · 07/10/2020 02:41

He decided not to shut down the stimulus check talk too. This mean people like my sister who rely on this money because they got laid off due to coronavirus will not get any money for food on the table. She have been using it to pay her own food while staying with us. .... all because he want to wait til after the election

danascully96 · 07/10/2020 03:08

I'm American and Trump is like a constant thunder overhead.. I'm deeply saddened that my friends and my neighbors and family members are more devoted to Trump than they are to civil and environmental rights.

If the ban is ever lifted, I'm yearning to leave the USA for a while. No place is perfect, but the worst of us is represented in our leader. I was so angry when he won because I felt betrayed. Frankly, I can't say I blame anyone on here for bashing Americans because we deserve it. The lack of empathy for the sake of political wins is the American way, as is preaching Christianity while destroying God's world because our true religion is capitalism.

:( I wouldn't trust my dog with Trump, let alone the USA.

Userzzz · 07/10/2020 03:19

A very small percentage of people die from Covid. We should not let the virus dominate our lives. He’s absolutely right.

Nancydrawn · 07/10/2020 04:04

I think it's worth noting that he is getting a lot of pushback from the American people. He is losing ground.

Polls out this week show that people blame Trump for not being cautious enough. He's lost favorability. The new CNN poll shows him down by a huge number of points. Key swing states are moving in the wrong direction for him.

It is all adding up. You can't touch his very core base. But he's losing suburban women and seniors in unprecedented numbers. (Biden's up over 20 points with those aged 65+; in comparison, Trump beat Clinton with those voters by 5 points in the same polls.)

So it matters.

Happytobeme123 · 07/10/2020 04:19

The thing is, on day 5 (or so), I could have stood and made a speech like that (as in I had the strength to get dressed and stand up).
200 odd days later and last night I could barely stand up due to the pain.
He shouldn't be so sure...

Serenity2020 · 07/10/2020 04:38

I've come to the conclusion he thinks he's Darth Vader in an orange wig. If this were a movie you'd have a rogue secret service agent who would have taken him out by now, after his wife gad slipped him a few grains of Novichok with his McDonalds. If this wasn't happening in America the military might also have deposed him by now, muzzled him, and stuck him in a cell in an orange junpsuit.

But since it is America his devoted and delusional fan base continue to worship him like the tinpot deity he seems to think he is. I don't think anyone had ever gainsayed him on anything in his pampered little life due to the fear of his toddler tantrums.

And apparently our own beloved Prime Minister Quockerwodger admires the Orange Lord Vader's way of doing things immensely...

Serenity2020 · 07/10/2020 04:39

Had not gad. I really must remember to preview.

Hmmm. Would you criticize the million plus families whose loved ones have died from Covid , of letting it 'dominate their lives' ?

What a completely ignorant cliche - "don't let it dominate your lives". How stupid can someone be?

  • My dd's A levels were cancelled and her University life is massively curtailed - it's dominated her life since March.
  • My other dc had no schooling for 6 months - teachers are being sent home, entire year groups ditto - it's dominating her education.
  • My dh''s work has been completely altered and WFH has dominated his life.
  • My db has been stuck overseas since January - it's dominated his life as well as that of his family.
  • I have lost thousands of ££ of work - financially it's dominated my life. And we are all lucky enough not to have lost any family members to it.

Therefore, this cliche of 'not allowing covid to dominate your life' is uneducated rubbish. Frankly Userzzz you should be embarrassed of saying something so dim.

BoobsOnTheMoon · 07/10/2020 08:10

Boris Johnson was giving video speeches at 5-8 days of his covid illness saying he felt much better but still had one minor symptom that meant he couldn't leave isolation yet.

Next thing we know he's on oxygen and apparently having a close brush with death. Named his son after one of the staff who "saved his life"....

So it's a bit early for Trump to say he's beaten it, surely??

Nanny0gg · 07/10/2020 08:13

@hippohector

I’m not sure I really believe he actually had it to be honest. Seems like a massive publicity stunt conveniently timed as an election strategy
Going by the number of people in the White House who now have it I'm pretty sure he has. And don't forget, he should still be in isolation but he's still sharing
Krook · 07/10/2020 08:27

The man is a complete waste of oxygen in my opinion but I'd rather see him brought to account for all his crimes and misdemeanours then dead.

I read that the driver's part of his car is hermetically sealed separately to the bit where he sits, in case of biological attack, so with luck his security detail will be ok if that's true. Still a monumentally stupid publicity stunt though.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was re-elected. I'd love to take the kids to Florida but I don't think I can set foot in the US while that man is in power.

Krook · 07/10/2020 08:28

*than dead (although then dead would do) Grin

gingganggooleywotsit · 07/10/2020 20:35

Trump is so bad, he actually makes me grateful for Boris. Never, ever did i think I'd feel like that! (life long labour supporter).

Dasboot · 07/10/2020 23:20

gingerangooleywotsit. Trump is one of the only people who can make Johnson look the picture of calm, benign and well thought out leadership and decision making . I’m also a life long labour supporter.

flatpack1 · 08/10/2020 00:33

@gingganggooleywotsit
@Dasboot
Totally agree with both sentiments (also lifelong Labour)

stopgap · 08/10/2020 00:47

He gets worse with each passing day. I hope Biden takes him to the cleaners. I’m in a blue town, but nevertheless, it’s encouraging that 95 percent of lawn signs around here are Biden ones.

Emeraldshamrock · 08/10/2020 01:28

This thread has some hilarious posts and some horrendous ones from American citizens the man is an orange monster in a yellow wig. Flowers

Q: So why is Trump promising Regeneron for free to seniors, if coronovirus is all a big load of nothing?

A: Because he's got shares in it?

Door to door salesman.

Nikori · 08/10/2020 01:47

A very small percentage of people die from Covid. We should not let the virus dominate our lives. He’s absolutely right.

Tell that to the 4,200 children in New York who have lost parents due to COVID-19. Many of those kids are going to end up in foster care as a result. You tell them to get on with their lives like it's no big deal. What is wrong with you?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/10/2020 12:12

Because Trump is off his tits on steroids and God knows what else right now. He is absolutely tripping balls. Tweeting 'LOVE!!!!', describing COVID as a blessing from god, offering something for nothing?? Unthinkable normally.

This is how he would be if someone slipped him an E. Maybe someone has.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/10/2020 12:13

Sorry, that was to @JamieLeeCurtains (and good name btw)

Nikori · 08/10/2020 12:42

In the last press conference, his hands were so white and his face so so orange. It was freaky.

Serenity2020 · 08/10/2020 12:47

@JesusInTheCabbageVan Shame somebody couldn't slip him something a bit stronger while they're at it. And he was a demented enough creature of the night to start with. I honestly don't know how his doctors have the audacity to stand there and pretend they're representing a profession that is, overall, known for speaking - and writing - truth.

The Walter Reed docs were in a rather different position, being military folk, but I can imagine some of the expressions behind those masks. I'm wondering how many more CDC people are going to resign before this man is done.

He's always been a narcissistic, beyond vain, vile piece of flesh, but now he's downright dangerous. I honestly fear for the future of the world if he gets elected again. Or if he doesn't. If I was more superstitious and of the religious indoctrination bent I'd seriously think he was possessed. Those eyes don't look entirely human on occasion...

I used to worry when Bush was in power, but not like this. I'm just glad my parents didn't live to see this; they lived through WWII as kids and their parents fought AGAINST the Nazis. And now we appear to have a bunch of them in power, all over the world, including most of what used to be known as the free world....

AuntMasha · 08/10/2020 13:02

His followers have all the classic behavioural traits of members of sinister religious cults. Some of the creepiest people I’ve ever come across.
