Trump - I seriously have no words

Trump, talking about COVID-19 on the news just now - “Don’t be afraid of it, don’t let it dominate you“
How fucking offensive to the millions of people who are suffering, who have died, their families, people who have lost their jobs, their livelihoods, their homes.

I don’t know why I am surprised, the man is an utter prick, but for some reason this latest sound bite has just enraged me. AIBU?

Having just googled the question of make up versus tan bed, it appears there is much speculation, but no clear consensus.

Heffalooomia · 06/10/2020 13:27

I think the orange makeup is a manifestation of the unconscious knowledge that he has to hide his true face 😶

knittingaddict · 06/10/2020 13:27
@knittingaddict ah, maybe. I tried looking it up and it seems nobody knows for sure. He said once it's because of energy efficient bulbs and everyone else looks orange too Hmm
Snap.

Rockbird · 06/10/2020 13:31

He's an utter twatbadger. He talks shite, rambles for ages and says nothing. What an arsehole.

LakieLady · 06/10/2020 13:32

@AmandaHoldensLips

I've spent quite a lot of time in the US and have absolutely no intention of going back if I can help it. It's a scary, scary place. Make no mistake - they might speak a version of English, but that's as far as the similarities go.
I spent 3 weeks there in 1983, and came to the same conclusion.

It made me realise that we have more in common with those across the channel than those across the Atlantic, despite having different languages.

It's entirely beyond my comprehension how a nation managed to elect this complete fraud of a man. He's nothing but a lying charlatan.

Spidey66 · 06/10/2020 13:33

I don’t want him to die. Instead I want him to have a long, protracted illness with every complication going. The guy who ran the hardware shop near me had 6 months in hospital with sepsis, CVA, heart attack and even though he’s discharged still had major mobility issues and has had to give up the shop he ran for 30 years. That’s what I want for Trump. I hate that man with a passion.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 06/10/2020 13:34

Googled what he would look like without all that crap and...

Not sure what to think about this. He actually looks human!

EscapingFromWorkStress · 06/10/2020 13:35

Dont believe for a second he has Covid. If he really did he would be screaming fake news and trying to hide it. With the time from diagnosis through hospital and out again i think this is all theatre for his electorate. Its embarrassing to watch if i am honest.

Notthemessiah · 06/10/2020 13:36

It's genuinely frightening how many stupid and\or self-centred Americans there must be that he still, even now, has a chance of being re-elected.

Anyone thinking that this all thousands of miles away and we don't need to worry about what happens there is sticking their head in the sand - what happens in America now will have short and long term consequences for Europe as well and especially the UK now that we have left the EU.

MrsDrudge · 06/10/2020 13:38

I don’t believe he is as well as he suggests - looked like he was struggling to breathe during his balcony appearance this morning.

OhToBeASeahorse · 06/10/2020 13:43

I just cant believe that out of a nation of that many people Trump became president. It suggests either the system is completely fucked and/or a much higher percentage of Americans are very easily taken in.

I'm aware we hardly have a great PM at the moment and I believe Johnson has really screwed the handling of Covid up but I dont believe he is in the same league as Trump.

DontBeShelfish · 06/10/2020 14:00

I suspect if he takes a turn for the worse his acolytes will simply assume he's been poisoned by the Chinese, or that the Clintons have had him murdered.

It always freaks me out that the name of the organisation doing drug trials is Gilead Science. America is in full-on Atwood territory now. I seriously think there'll be a civil war.

KenAdams · 06/10/2020 14:05

I mentioned on another thread that I don't think he's faking due to the number of people confirmed positive in the White House, but I do think he was diagnosed earlier than they're admitted and carried on as normal until he developed symptoms.

I do think he might win this election such is his loyal fan base. Someone on BBC News last night said a presidents job is to lead all the people, but he only leads his supporters. They're bang on - if he can appeal to enough of a majority, he doesn't give a shit about anyone else. He just needs enough to get him elected, which by some miracle, he was able to do last time. The thought of another 4 years of Trump is scary, particularly as a potential trade partner for our newly independant nation.

rosiethehen · 06/10/2020 14:12

Shame. I was hoping it'd see him off. He's a despicable individual.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 06/10/2020 14:14

I agree with posters who’ve commented that he’s drugged up to the eyeballs and that’s why he feels fine. He may also have a mild case as it affects people differently. I know a 90-year-old who’s recovered from it- absolutely gobsmacking as everyone assumed she wouldn’t. It’s also far too soon for him to assume he’s over the worst...but listening to experts isn’t his strong point.

His comments are so crass, no thought for those who are seriously ill or have died ( and their loved ones). 😡

Nikori · 06/10/2020 14:20

I seem to remember Boris Johnson also downplayed how serious his covid was.

Trump is an idiot. His opinion polls are way down and he is scrambling.

He's totally missing his mark. His hard-core supporters will support him no matter what he does, but he has alienated a lot of people with his antics.

YorkshireIndie · 06/10/2020 14:26

I have not read the whole thread but where is his wife? Isn't she meant to be ill?

1forAll74 · 06/10/2020 14:30

It does look like a stunt to me, all carefully worked out for maximum effect. His little covid speeches were rubbish, and like well rehearsed lines written out for him.. At first, he was seen looking suitably pale, with flat stupid hair, but when going back to the White house, he was back to an orangey face, with poofed up hair again.

It was all razzmatazz stuff whilst he was being driven away from hospital, like a movie star going to some premier. So not the usual sad sight of seeing a covid patient being driven away in an ambulance.

But after all, he says he now understands Covid, he knows all about it, he does not fear it, he has conquered it, because he is the greatest president.!

belinda789 · 06/10/2020 14:31

President claims '1917 pandemic probably ended World War II'
Says it all really.......
How awful to go down in history as the most dreadful president America ever had.

SunshineCake · 06/10/2020 14:37

I think he got in because the majority of the voters didn't want Hillary, as opposed to voting because they wanted him.

Why are presidents always so old? There has been few younger men. It is time for a middle aged woman to take everyone in hand.

Oh, yes. There isn't one.

MummyOfZog · 06/10/2020 14:38

I must admit I am gobsmacked by the whole thing! The fact he brazenly left hospital, removing his mask and also that absolutely pointless 'drive by' he did the day before. He has not isolated for the correct number of days - I get he is in an important role and wants to 'steer the ship' - but his actions are totally irresponsible and signal to others in the US that you don't need to self-isolate. What the US needs is a leader who leads by example. With Trump everything is a race to the bottom.

LondonJax · 06/10/2020 14:39

Our DS has a heart condition and one of the things we have to watch for is his breathing.

If DS was opening the rib cage the way Trump was when he took that mask off on the White House balcony, I'd be calling an ambulance as it's a 'gasping' breath rather than a normal one. It's the type you do when you've run for the bus - when your body is naturally struggling for breath. If he's like that when he's standing up, he's got a problem.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 06/10/2020 15:25

He was really struggling on the balcony. His breathing was bad in the hospital broadcasts and it’s not got better.

MarshaBradyo · 06/10/2020 15:29

That breathing does look forced
