Just found out that Billie Piper doesn't share social/political views as her ex H

I just assumed that she shared similar views as that silly man. I am not sure what attracted her to him; she seems pretty level headed and clued up.

I googled her as I saw a movie featuring her and I wanted to watch it but wouldn't have watched it if she was anything like that Lawrence/Laurence, or whatever he's called. I really dislike the man and his face, and unfairly, I had lumbered Bilie with him despite them being separated.

But I can't imagine marrying and having kids with someone who is on a completely different wavelength on such important issues.

I guess there's no aibu but had me reflect if he was always like this/only become like what he is after the divorce.

I would hate to parent with someone with views like him. I would be worried what he's teaching my children all types of intolerance. Plus he's just not very bright.

BP's great. Seems really switched on.

ShinyMe · 04/10/2020 16:17

I suspect he either hid his views better when he was younger, or more likely, his views have got more extreme as he got older, and after Billie left him.

Have you noticed how much uglier he's got in recent years too? He's the physical embodiment of that Dahl/Twits thing about ugly thoughts making you look ugly.

Duanphen · 04/10/2020 16:18

It's more likely he was once a normal person who then became a vicious racist in later life, about the same time a lot of men stop being nice and start becoming Grumpy Old Sods and shaking their fists at the sky.

She divorced him years ago. There's nothing to suggest she ever even knew he would fall down a racist Youtube hole.

User36258 · 04/10/2020 16:20

I do think his views have become more extreme in recent years, and they have been divorced a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were tolerably moderate when they were together.

moita · 04/10/2020 16:28

Didn't they have custody disagreements? I think we all look back on an ex and wonder what we were thinking...

AuntMasha · 04/10/2020 16:30

I wonder about his mental health. His latest grab for attention is that he’s boycotting Sainsbury’s because of Black History Month.

It's despicable to comment on someone mental health because they have a different view point. I don't agree with what he says but I agree with his right to say it.

zafferana · 04/10/2020 16:38

Maybe that's why they're divorced?

sst1234 · 04/10/2020 16:40

What has he said that’s racist?

AuntMasha · 04/10/2020 16:41

Perhaps you’d like to point out which part of my post says he has mental health issues because he has a ‘different viewpoint’?

I happen to question his mental health because he looks drawn, underweight and his behaviour is somewhat irrational and self defeating.

LittleRa · 04/10/2020 16:41

Would you really not watch a film/TV programme you wanted to see if you disagreed with the actors’ political points of view?

Why does it have to be a mental health problem? Maybe he's just a cunt? Hmm

AuntMasha · 04/10/2020 16:44

Well, indeed. Maybe he is just a cunt. I was just asking a question.

Christ, why is AIBU so fucking hostile?

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 04/10/2020 16:45

He's a very bitter and angry man about the divorce and custody issues.

I don't think his views were as they are now even a few years ago. I really believe he is unwell.

Tana433 · 04/10/2020 16:45

I dont question his mental health, he just doesnt have some of the same views as me. However, i completly dont think he is racist. He is just fed up of the "woke" brigade and, frankly arent we all?

IrmaFayLear · 04/10/2020 16:46

I definitely think he’s gone a bit batty. Actually he was a bit odd as Detective Hathaway !

Freddiefox · 04/10/2020 16:46

I think he’s a bit like Katie Hopkins. In the same way the more controversial she is the more air time she gets.
Mr fox is clinging onto his looks, he’s acting talent is a bit meh, he’s not really got a lot going for him. However the more sensational his views the more he stands to make out of it.

JellyFishSquish · 04/10/2020 16:46

So surprised at the hate here.

This is just another type of cancel culture. People have opinions. They may not match up with yours. Get over it.

aintnousernamelikenousername · 04/10/2020 16:49

People don’t need to ‘get over it’. Cancelling someone isn’t wrong if they have despicable and disgusting views like that fool does.

jessstan1 · 04/10/2020 16:49

I've obviously missed something because had no idea Laurence Fox had racist views - and can hardly credit it. I also think he is quite attractive and always has been. I was gutted when he and the gorgeous Billie P split.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 04/10/2020 16:50

Those sorts of married couples who say 'WE think' - as if they only have one mind between the pair of them - are rightly the butt of people's ridicule. We can thank the suffragists for the fact that these days women are at liberty to maintain an completely independent set of value judgements, belief systems and political convictions from their spouses (and hurray for universal suffrage. Now THERE would be a centenary really worth celebrating!)

Billie Piper is no longer with him, which says much. It's been reported that Emilia and Freddie Fox have been trolled and even spat at because of the stated beliefs of their cousin. It seems mad to me that family members should be tainted by association and expected to bear collective responsibility for the behaviour of one relative. It's a very Cain and Abel type of assumption, and IMO it belongs before the flood. No one can choose their family.

Agree completely with OP that parenting with someone like this would be hell. Also, similarly, on the point that the bloke is repulsive. It seems BP is well rid!

SentientAndCognisant · 04/10/2020 16:50

I do not that there is “woke brigade”, there are people who have rightly challenged the values and behaviour of tired moribund and entitled mass

ghostyslovesheets · 04/10/2020 16:50

I don't think even he believes half of it - he's just enjoying the publicity and rolling with it - he's a replacement Katie Hopkins - it made her money - he may as well try and ruin a third career!

BP probably divorced him because she realised he was a prize wanker - her was very unpleasant about her and I suspect not very nice to her during the marriage.

He's an egotisitical asshat really.

Cancelling is wrong in a free society. Where do you live, that people can decide how other people should think?
IcedPurple · 04/10/2020 16:51

I thought Lawrence Fox made some reasonable points when the 'controversy' over his Question Time appearance first hit the headlines, but since then he's revealed himself to be a bit of a tosser. He's not much of an actor, even worse of a musician and, it would appear, he's none too bright either. Lucky for him he came from a posh, well-connected acting family.

He seems to be loving all the attention he's got from being the 'anti-woke' poster boy, but I expect his new political party will crash and burn.
