Just found out that Billie Piper doesn't share social/political views as her ex H

I just assumed that she shared similar views as that silly man. I am not sure what attracted her to him; she seems pretty level headed and clued up.

I googled her as I saw a movie featuring her and I wanted to watch it but wouldn't have watched it if she was anything like that Lawrence/Laurence, or whatever he's called. I really dislike the man and his face, and unfairly, I had lumbered Bilie with him despite them being separated.

But I can't imagine marrying and having kids with someone who is on a completely different wavelength on such important issues.

I guess there's no aibu but had me reflect if he was always like this/only become like what he is after the divorce.

I would hate to parent with someone with views like him. I would be worried what he's teaching my children all types of intolerance. Plus he's just not very bright.

No its probably because I have just had a text from a friend saying Sainsburys/Argos have decided to have separate/safe spaces for their black/ethnic staff. Is this not SEGRIGATION which thank god we have got rid of....or so I thought

Chicchicchicchiclana · 04/10/2020 17:27

OMG Rousette! that hilarious YouTube clip Grin.

VinylDetective · 04/10/2020 17:28

@IrmaFayLear

I’m not a fan by any means, and granted he isn’t that handsome, but if a woman’s looks were being discussed In these terms the posts would be deleted.
Only if some busybody reported it.
derxa · 04/10/2020 17:28

Do we know anything about Chris Evans' political views?

Roussette · 04/10/2020 17:30

@Chicchicchicchiclana

Don't sue me for the assault on your eardrums 😂

Tellmetruth4 · 04/10/2020 17:31

He came across as a proper MRA during their divorce. I don’t think he could’ve been a very nice husband.

Wherehavetheteletubbiesgone · 04/10/2020 17:31

And when Sainsbury's take down those silly posters or celebrate Asian history month or European history month or even ginger history month then I will return to their shop.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 04/10/2020 17:31

Mariel the difference is everyone knows the far right are scum. I would think they would almost categorise themselves as such but the left continue to consider themselves the good guys.

I'm compelled to agree with this, and admit to being quite bitter about it. The left is the ground on which social injustices and inequalities have traditionally been fought. When this side of the political spectrum is seen to propagate certain forms of hate speech against those they would once have championed - examples being the misogyny and homophobia once again being legitimised - it stings far more than the attitudes of the far right who have never made any pretence about what they were. I was given pause for thought when I saw a comment from a gay woman on this site that these days she'd feel safer at a BNP rally than Pride, because at least the far right know what a lesbian IS.

Betrayals like this seem so much more bitter when they emanate from the so-called 'left'.

Roussette · 04/10/2020 17:31

Yes and bearing in mind BP has remained firm friends with her exH Chris Evans

Smileyaxolotl1 · 04/10/2020 17:32

rousette
Yes fair point- I thought you meant you didn’t realise why she was mentioned at all.

The singing career does seem to be a rich white male privilege thing....others such as Alexander Armstrong have done similar.

HannahStern · 04/10/2020 17:33

Please, let's not refer to the racists on this thread as racists. It could upset them.

Roussette · 04/10/2020 17:34

That's OK Smiley I understand, I didn't make myself clear I realise that now!

Oh god don't mention AA... or Xander as he insists everyone calls him!

SourcePlease · 04/10/2020 17:37

I've obviously missed something because had no idea Laurence Fox had racist views

I've obviously missed something because I have no idea who the hell Laurence Fox is.

AuntMasha · 04/10/2020 17:38

It appears that Lawrence’s lack of musical talent could be the one thing on which we can all agree on - a force for unity!

Roussette · 04/10/2020 17:39

I've tried to avoid him meself, but he just pops up all over the place.

That’s such a good point. You’ve articulated so well something I’ve been struggling with.

Then you must not pay attention very much because I’ve seen women’s appearances get ripped apart on here regularly. Especially if a woman has dared to have any cosmetic procedures. There are entire threads calling women who have Botox or fillers ugly, hideous etc
But yeah.., heaven forbid we dare criticise a man!

carreterra · 04/10/2020 17:43

Regarding a PP saying that Lawrence Fox is bitter about his divorce, i read an article that Billie "rinsed" him, ended up with the house, maintenance payments and a hefty lump sum, which left him with nothing. And he had to endure having his mother in law, Mandy living with them while they were married. Nice.
Strange that she didn't rinse Chris (Ginger) Evans when they divorced. This article said she took nothing from him, don't know whether he had a pre nuptial agreement drawn up? Chris Evans could have afforded to cough up, but significantly they had no children, i suppose that is why she was entitled to so much, but it sounded like Lawrence had a breakdown afterwards, not just financially but emotionally, he really loved Billie, so please don't be too harsh.
There's a track called "So be Damned" by Lawrence Fox on Spotify, which I quite liked, sounds like a ballad, worth a listen.
For the posters who called Lawrence ugly, Billie always reminded me of "Bingo" from the Banana Splits, remember them from the 70's?
Anyway, their 2 sons are absolutely gorgeous, so how could either parent be ugly?

Love & Peace to all.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 04/10/2020 17:43

Rousette
I have a theory (which is probably partly inverted snobbery) that anyone who uses the ‘wrong part’ of their first name for a nickname is probably a bit annoying. See Xander for evidence or Victorias who like to be known as Tori....

Fucket · 04/10/2020 17:43

The fact that Laurence Fox has become so popular is depressing. Every time someone mocks his looks, his opinions, and his acting etc. There is probably twice as many people reading this thread and thinking Laurence may have a point. They don’t comment because they don’t want the grief that would follow. If we don’t treat people with respect for having a different opinion will we drive people into the arms of the Far right wing and lose that persons support in future elections. Treat Laurence with respect and let him make a fool of himself, which I am sure he is quite capable of. Treat him in the usual nasty way if the left and we turn him into a political martyr. Has no one learned from Boris, Farage and Trump?! These idiots have been helped by the lefts attitude to them and their supporters... I just want to bang my head against a wall...

We need to stop shouting racist every five minutes because it’s losing it’s intensity as a word. Having doubts about segregating staff at Sainsbury’s in the basis of ethnicity is not automatically a racist thought. A lot of us remember racial segregation in the 20th century and are worried about where this may lead, no matter how well intentioned.

derxa · 04/10/2020 17:44

I'm not interested in cancelling Laurence Fox. We've come to weird pass when we talk about 'cancelling' people. What happened to respectful debate? It all came to a head for me when Germaine Greer was 'no platformed'. This week Jenni Murray revealed how she was 'cancelled by the BBC'.
www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-8799931/DAME-JENNI-MURRAY-cancelled-BBC-adore.html
I think Laurence Fox is having a bit of a public breakdown

mum2jakie · 04/10/2020 17:44

Laurence Fox was in a long term relationship and was living with a woman (Martha Swann - another actress) who he ditched weeks after meeting Billie Piper. I don't think he's ever been anything other than a dick.

thepeopleversuswork · 04/10/2020 17:46

Maybe I'm missing something but isn't boycotting Sainsbury's over supporting Black History Month the ultimate in "cancelling"?

Those of you railing against "woke" and "cancel culture" seem to have overlooked this.

As far as I can see his party is just a kind of UKIP for posh thickos who want to be able to continue to go to dinner parties.

EddyF · 04/10/2020 17:47

No I wouldn’t; especially as a Black person. I wouldn’t watch a movie knowing someone has views like that he holds. I barely watch TV so I feel my time is very precious and I won’t give it/support that person (no matter how small their part is).

I have always liked Billie (I’m slightly younger than her) and I enjoyed her singing back in the day, haha. Plus I've always thought she had a nice unique/pretty look to her. She just hasn’t been on my radar for a while.

I was quoting someone who asked a question if I would watch a show with a person who had political / social views I do not agree with.
