Just found out that Billie Piper doesn't share social/political views as her ex H

I just assumed that she shared similar views as that silly man. I am not sure what attracted her to him; she seems pretty level headed and clued up.

I googled her as I saw a movie featuring her and I wanted to watch it but wouldn't have watched it if she was anything like that Lawrence/Laurence, or whatever he's called. I really dislike the man and his face, and unfairly, I had lumbered Bilie with him despite them being separated.

But I can't imagine marrying and having kids with someone who is on a completely different wavelength on such important issues.

I guess there's no aibu but had me reflect if he was always like this/only become like what he is after the divorce.

I would hate to parent with someone with views like him. I would be worried what he's teaching my children all types of intolerance. Plus he's just not very bright.

sst1234 Nothing that normal people consider racist. He believes that people are people and shouldn’t be judged on skin colour. He’s also fed up with wokeness and constant denigration of Britain.

Having said that I agree with the initial point. It’s one thing to have a different political opinion to your spouse but more strange to be activists for different sides. Billie Piper was on a BLM demonstration the same day as Fox was saying it was divisive.

Also there is another thread from a day or so ago where a number of people are confidently declaring that mumsnet is not at all left wing yet this thread surely suggests otherwise.

bp300 · 04/10/2020 16:54

@sst1234

What has he said that’s racist?
Nothing, there are despicable people here making unfounded accusations calling him racist and questioning his mental health purely because they disagree with his opinion.
AuntyPasta · 04/10/2020 16:55

Why would you ever assume Billie Piper held those kind of views? Just because her ex is a tosspot doesn’t mean she is.

Runningjump · 04/10/2020 16:55

He just seemed to turn up to Question Time one day where he said he didn't think those who haven't fallen in love with Meghan Markle hadn't done so because of racism.

A fair comment, but the barrage of abuse aimed at him after that seems to have tipped him into modelling himself as a full on racist.

Fromage · 04/10/2020 16:56

@LittleRa

Would you really not watch a film/TV programme you wanted to see if you disagreed with the actors’ political points of view?
I have lately been put off the gurnings and gaspings and am-drammery of eddie redmayne and daniel radcliffe. Not yet come across something with either if them in I would otherwise watch though.
VinylDetective · 04/10/2020 16:57

It looks as if he’s deep in mid life crisis to me.

SentientAndCognisant · 04/10/2020 16:57

He’s also fed up with wokeness and constant denigration of Britain
⬆️What’s that actually mean,it’s an inane stream of cliché.Truly worthy of Farage

Smileyaxolotl1 · 04/10/2020 16:58

So good to see the tolerant left out in force again too.
‘Cunt’ ‘tosspot’ - all because he doesn’t share your views.

And I don’t doubt that his family have been spat at and abused - that’s #bekind tolerant left showing themselves again.

Gancanny · 04/10/2020 16:59

He admits shouting "cut" at her during arguments and that he would deliberately wind her up in arguments but claimed it was okay because she never had any broken teeth, aka it was okay to shout at her because at least he didn't hit her Hmm

There were custody issues that ended up in court and he's been vocal about how unfair the family courts are to men, likening it to the Me Too movement, the things he says about it are all F4J/MRA style ranting.

I think its very telling that when you Google Billie Piper you get umpteen articles of "Laurence Fox says this about Billie Piper" and "Laurence Fox says that about Billie Piper" but from Billie Piper herself there is only silence about the relationship, the divorce, and the custody case with no newspaper rants or ill-worded TV appearances.

He has the right to his opinions. I have the right to think he comes across as an inadequate little tosser. The guy has had incredible luck in life purely by reason of his birth/ famous and more talented family, yet his whole persona seems to be based around self-pitying would-be victimhood.

Also, can someone supply an actual definition of “cancel culture”? Because what the guy is doing right now (trying to incite a boycott of a supermarket through social media because they support Black History Month) sounds pretty much like cancelling to me. Or is it cancel culture (and therefore Bad) if you take your money elsewhere because you’re pissed off by racism and bigotry, but just capitalism in action (and therefore Good) if you won’t give a company your custom because you’re offended by anti-racism?

CherryPieface · 04/10/2020 17:01

@JellyFishSquish but hasn’t he just ‘cancelled’ Sainsbury’s because he doesn’t agree with them celebrating diversity?

AuntyPasta · 04/10/2020 17:02

You do have to be racist for me to think you’re a tosspot but it helps.

AuntyPasta · 04/10/2020 17:02

Don’t

ghostyslovesheets · 04/10/2020 17:03

he's boycotting Sainsbury's for celebrating Black History month!

SentientAndCognisant · 04/10/2020 17:04

@Smileyaxolotl1 are you really so cliched & formulaic in your speech in real life?

*tolerant left out in force again
He’s also fed up with wokeness and constant denigration of Britain.

All very conspiratorial with a splash of persecution

Roussette · 04/10/2020 17:05

I would expect no less from Billie Piper.

Whereas 'Lozza' as he calls himself on Twitter is bloody awful and setting up a posh UKIP party.
He's a tw@t
An as for his singing voice, judge for yourself, not sure the musicians accompanying him can keep a straight face

AuntMasha · 04/10/2020 17:06

I first came across him in a film called ‘The Hole’, which seems appropriate.

IcedPurple · 04/10/2020 17:07

@VinylDetective

It looks as if he’s deep in mid life crisis to me.
Yep.

He really wanted to be a musician, but he failed at this. So given his family background, thought he'd give acting a go but that career never really took off either, especially when compared to his other family members. And he has admitted that his divorce and custody battle were traumatic - and ruinously expensive - for him. So my guess is when he started getting attention and praise (from some quarters) for being 'brave' and 'speaking out against the woke mafia', then he leapt on that as giving him some sort of validation.

So yeah, mid-life crisis played out in public. What a spectacle.

Roussette · 04/10/2020 17:07

Think he's digging a big one for himself Masha
Grin

LittleRa · 04/10/2020 17:08

@Fromage (sorry, quote feature not working for some reason)

I have lately been put off the gurnings and gaspings and am-drammery of eddie redmayne and daniel radcliffe. Not yet come across something with either if them in I would otherwise watch though.

Fair enough if you already don’t like that particular actor’s acting style. But the OP said she’d spotted a movie she fancied watching, but instead of just watching it decided to google the actor to find out their political views before she would watch it.

(I know my post has nothing to do with actual LF or BP I just found it an odd thing to do- does the OP research actors in any film she’s going to watch to find out whether she agrees/disagrees with their personal views?)

LittleRa · 04/10/2020 17:08

Bold fail as well as quote fail 🤦🏼‍♀️

SentientAndCognisant · 04/10/2020 17:08

@Roussette that’s one of the most unintentionally funny things I’ve seen in ages

Mr fox is clinging onto his looks
He's truly fucked then, he's a face like a slapped weasel.

nosswith · 04/10/2020 17:13

I'm disappointed the OP assumed a woman held the same political views as her husband, regardless of what they are.
