They are ultra tacky

SantaClaritaDiet · 27/09/2020 12:09

They were a fad, do people still wear them now?

Not sure why it matters if you like them or not. I do feel sympathy for those who did like them originally, but everyone jumped on the bandwagon and they became the lazy and unimaginative bracelet of the month - possibly year.

speakout · 27/09/2020 12:09

What an odd thing to start a thread about.

There are many things I don't like but others do- tattoos, golf, classical music, fast cars, line dancing, leather sofas.

Why does it matter to you if people like Pandora bracelets?

How does it impact you OP?

SpeedofaSloth · 27/09/2020 12:10

Well, I like mine Smile

BilboBercow · 27/09/2020 12:10

Oh well done on your superior taste op. Is that what you were looking for?

Macncheeseballs · 27/09/2020 12:11

Your post doesn't bring a great deal of positivity to the world does it op?

FlamedToACrisp · 27/09/2020 12:11

I don't like spinach or spiders

What's wrong with spinach, it is lovely veg. YAB utterly U

And spiders are delicious. what's wrong with you?

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 27/09/2020 12:11

i wouldnt say superior,
@BilboBercow.. just bracelets are a no go

Yorkshirelass04 · 27/09/2020 12:11

I do like them.

I have collected charms from different shops around the world and also received some as gifts.

I know Pandora is not 'posh jewellery' but you can like something for being pretty and personal rather than being the most amazing thing ever. We can't all afford Cartier love bracelets!

GoldfishParade · 27/09/2020 12:11

The charm bracelets I think are quite a sad commercialisation of something that's meant to be a but free spirited - you find charms, you collect them, maybe of different sizes from different places, made of different metals, like a patchwork quilt pieced together from a mash up of memories.

With pandora you just browse online and click "buy".

lunalulu · 27/09/2020 12:12

I like other makes of the same thing but yes don't like Pandora either

Chunky

C8H10N4O2 · 27/09/2020 12:13

so don't buy one?

Charm bracelets go in and out of fashion and are reinvented every couple of decades, just like pretty much every other fashion. There is no particular virtue in liking or disliking them.

OpEd · 27/09/2020 12:13

I don't think I'm the target market, they're for teenagers aren't they?

MashedSweetSpud · 27/09/2020 12:14

I like them.

I have a silver one and several colours of leather ones.

There’s things I don’t like that other women do but I don’t make threads about them. 🤷‍♀️

SBTLove · 27/09/2020 12:17

@Tomatoesneedtoripen
If braclets are a no go why choose one brand to snark about?
I don’t like him but I wouldn’t name one brand. 🤷🏼‍♀️

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 27/09/2020 12:18

If you don’t like them, you don’t like them....

DD loathes them. I love them and have several with different themes or colourways.

I loathe Ugg Boots and “sparkly” home decor... each to their own....

VictoriaBun · 27/09/2020 12:19

*52AnnaMagnani

YANBU but this thread will soon be full of people saying that every charm they have on their bracelet is memorable and meaningful.

It always looks to me like a scheme for extracting money out of men who have no idea what to buy as a present. Oh it's Christmas, another charm on the bracelet, job done*

One bead is in memory of my mum as it's the colour of her zodiac gem. One for my children , one for my hobby , and favourite animal and etc.
I don't care you are curling your lip in a sneer at that .

SmileyClare · 27/09/2020 12:20

I find all the They're Tacky comments a bit snobby and uncalled for.

Tacky means poor taste, cheap showiness, a publicity stunt.

I mean don't buy one but don't look down on someone else and assume Eeew how tacky and lower class like an uppity Lady of the Manor.

slashlover · 27/09/2020 12:20

This is always my answer in "What annoys you about MN?" posts.

AIBU to like/dislike this food/song/film/TV show/clothing/jewellery?

Well, no. It's a personal choice.

DollyDoneMore · 27/09/2020 12:21

I’m surprised some people see them as outdated. To me, they are just as beautiful now as they always were.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/09/2020 12:21

I don't like any Pandora stuff - my DD loves it, so I have to accept that she wants overpriced tat for her birthday.

A cross I bear because I love her.

JinglingHellsBells · 27/09/2020 12:22

@Tomatoesneedtoripen And you think it's worth posting this on a forum.
How odd.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 27/09/2020 12:24

I quite like them, but prefer the old-fashioned charm bracelets. They are a pretty collection of special memories - I find the idea 'charming' although wearing one is a bit scratchy and you worry if an expensive bit will fall off as they are quite fragile. Pandora seem to have improved on both of those problems.

I love my “traditional” charm bracelets with beautiful meaningful charms from places I’ve visited or to mark special events (graduation, wedding, babies etc) BUT I could never wear them because they would catch on things or I would worry about them coming off (getting them soldered on was expensive). Pandora don’t catch or fall off...

imnotimportant · 27/09/2020 12:24

Not my taste either but tbf it's just as well that we all like different things , it would be a sad boring world with us all looking cloned due our likes and dislikes plus new developments in fashion for any sector would not move forwards

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 27/09/2020 12:24

@zonkin

Does anyone really care who does or doesn't like Pandora bracelets?
nope, not me bizarre thread reeks of snobbery regardless of what the op 'intended'
